In my fantasy world

Sell Pogba(if reports are true that he wants to join Barca) for 200mil //Martial for 80mil // Rojo for 25M// Smalling for 20 Mil // Shaw for 30 Mil // Herrera for 20 Mil // Mata for 20 Mil // Valencia for 10 Mil// Darmian for 25 Mil // Blind for 15 Mil ---

In total +445 Mil returns on sale

Sign

SMS for 90 Mil // Dembele for 90 Mil // Vidal for 20 Mil // Toby for 40 Mil // Sandro for 50 Mil and a quality RB for 50 Mil// Pulisic for 65 mil = -405 Mil and 70 mil already spent on Fred and Dalot !!!

-475 + 445 =-30 Mil for 2018

On a 30 mil budget, It would give us a good mix of young and experience plus a balanced squad may not sulk too much or think they are bigger than UTD

Next year replace Ashley with another left back and integrate Chong/Gomez/Mason into first team !!

FW= Lukaku / Rashford
LW =Alexis/lingard
AM = Fred/Fellaini
RW =Dembele/Pulisic
CM = Matic/SMS/Vidal/Perrera
LB= Sandro/Ashley
CD= Toby/Eric/Jones/Victor/ALexT
RB= New signing / DD
GK= DDG/ Romero
FM alert!

Not sure if already posted but does JM think he really needs 6 players to complete his Man Utd first 11 ?If the board granted his wish who would he sign ?
1.Fred.
2.Perisic ?
3.Sandro ?
4.Centre back ?
5.Dalot (I think Young and Valencia will groom him for Right back).
6?

CM #1 - Fred
CM #2 - ??? Fellaini
RB - Dalot?
LB - Sandro?
CB - Alderweireld?
W - Willian?

That's what I think anyway

What a curious transfer window.

Only the terminally negative would have thought we'd be 4 days from the end of the window, with only the pre World cup transfers banked.
We are literally clinging onto the hope that we can force a player out of Tottenham in time!

Let's hope Martial somehow gets happy and decides he can and wants to play on the right.

Hard to say if JM would prefer Perisic over Willian as he might know he would never get him from Chelsea ? Not sure about Fellaini and he wouldnt be a starter Id say.

I'm wondering if he wanted 6 first team players or a mix of first 11 and squad based players.

Pogba doesn't look like he wants to be here anymore, especially with Mourinho. Juventus willing to deal in Pjanic according to reports. Get Pjanic + cash for Pogba. Matic is injured for the moment.
Then, with that amount + extra, get SMS (do a similar deal to AC Milan's 1 yr loan + buyout next year offer).

Sell Martial as he wants to leave too, get Perisic. Inter wanted Martial last year, send him this year.
Sell Rojo and Darmian, get Toby or Harry or Boateng.

Yeah, it's fantasy football and there isn't much time. At least, this looks like it can compete with the likes of Liverpool and City. Looks more like a Mourinho team with all these hard workers.

Judging by Mourinho's interview post-match vs Bayern, I think that Mourinho did want to sign 6 first team players in the positions mentioned (and he has only so far got one of the CMs and the RB).

The key part of the interview is from 23s, when he mentioned that at the end of the match there was:
Lewandowski on Tuanzebe at CB,
Robben on Mitchell at LB,
Goretzka on Garner in CM,
and Süle on Song at RW/CF.

Mourinho painted this situation as: "that's fantastic, that's absolutely fantastic", but he said this in a bit of an exaggerated/perhaps tongue-in-cheek manner. Given the comments he has been making about being in for a tough season without more signings, and considering the 4 kids he played were in the 4 positions he has been supposedly still wanting to strengthen, I reckon this was him sending another coded signal to the board that it's not actually "fantastic" he's having to use a bunch of teenagers against Bayern's first team, but is actually a big cause for concern.

We can't secure 3-4 complex deals in 3 days

It’s genuinely incredible that’s your interpretation of that interview.

Key information you have missed out is he mentions those players are Bayern’s first team and that it’s ‘fantastic experience’ for the boys. He knows he has most of the first team unavailable to him at the moment.

That would have been more relecant had we not had

Young and Shaw in Mitchells position.
Five players at least ahead of Tuanzebe at CB
Seven ahead of Garner.

It’s not depth we lack in those positions. It’s arguably top, top quality.

Fantastic experience for the boys, but not for Mourinho and his chances of success this season.

Well yeah - and it seems pretty clear that Mourinho has been wanting upgrades on the current players at LB, CB and RW.

I’ve gone off the ‘interpreting Mou press talk’ a bit, partly because it’s clear he hates them himself, partly because it ruins my lunch, and partly because it’s an echo chamber of ‘journalists’ second guessing each other and fans second guessing the ‘journalism’. And partly because its so much that - guessing, rather than talking about anything very concrete.

I guess all your guessing is likely enough, for me I don’t see the point in bringing in a CB or a LB unless it’s someone that is clearly one of the best in the world or a perfect fit. If not, I’m not that bothered.

A RW I think would do angreat deal of difference, but again, if we rotate it between Mata, Radhford and Chong, that would be interesting enough for me to tolerate the risk of another year fighting for CL places. Not sure it will to Woody or most here, though!

How is Bailly getting in people's first 11? He's been dogshit for a year.

Most of the posters (including me) wanted something like this:

CB - Alderweireld
RB - Meunier
LB - Sandro
CM - Fred
CM - Milinkovic-Savic
RW - Bale

A couple of months later, we will continue with Valencia and Young for all the season and Mata as our RW... At least we signed Fred who can bring balance to our midfield. Sadly, it seems that Pogba wants to go, I guess this would be his last season with us.

It seems that we are not going to sign a RW, so I really hope we change our system with Sanchez and Lukaku up front to get the best of our players.

We came into this window needing upgrades in five areas (RB, LB, CB, CM, RW).

Five hours of the window to go and four of those problems still remain.

Not to mention that our most urgent positions were RW and LB. If we do sign a CB we didn't upgrade much on RB (if at all), CM or CB...

the sad thing is that there are so many players that have done transfers that would have instantly made us better i.e. Witsel, Vidal, even Dembele but we ended up with no one. But no, we kept Fellaini instead

We signed Fred...

We don't need another CM. We have Fred, Matic, Pogba, Herrera, Fellaini, Pereira, McTominay.

Unless it was a world class player (e.g. Kroos or Verratti) that became available, there'd be no point going for them in that position.

Pressing concerns are obviously LB, RW and CB.

Jose looking to sign 6 players in the Summer.
Sure, but how many players is Woodward looking to buy in the Summer?

Fellaini was kept, in order to save money. He has no transfer fee attached to him.
Imagine if he left and we had to sign another midfielder? That would've been a cost of £70M or thereabouts.
In fact, thinking about it, had Fellaini not re-signed, I don't think we'd have got a replacement. Woodward probably would've told Jose to make do with what we have.

OMG really? :lol: get back on ground, that might have been the most money spend in a single window by a club in the history, we are not an oil club, no galacticos and this is not a football manager mate
That would be:
60m
50m
50m
50m
100m
120m+

that is 430m+ spent in one window:lol: please I know that people are frustrated but that's like seeing Real madrid fans here... if we had a manager who can make his players play better and who wouldnt spend 300m himself over his time here already we would be fighting for trophies easily every season. Not talking about the fact that half of the players on the list are not for sale/ absolutely tough to negotiate for anything decent...

Not to mention that our profit this season was circa 150m, and we owned 70m or so to other rclubs from last season(s). So, unless we sold Pogba and De Gea among others, there was 0 chance anyway to sign all of them.

Not really. Mourinho himself said we'd not go after attackers and that we'd only need another CM if Fellaini left. Carrick retired so we got a replacement. Same would have been done if Fellaini left.

If you look early posts in this thread, you will see that those players were the most repetead. A lot of of people thought that we could have bought Alderweireld and Sandro.

I mentioned time ago that we would be able to buy 6 players in 2 transfer windows in order to improve those positions. But to be honest, I didn't think that we would continue with Valencia and Young as our fullbacks and Mata as our RW. I thought that we were going to sign Willian and Sandro.

Yeah, you are asking people to get back on the ground, then you come up with this : "if we had a manager who can make his players play better and who wouldnt spend 300m himself over his time here already we would be fighting for trophies easily every season".

Which manager can do that ? Go on.

The only ones who competed are Conte (£320 million over two seasons) and Pep (almost £500 million).

Edit: i agree with the fact that we were never gonna sing any of them. i don't agree with the cheap dig in the bolded part.

Ed can still claim we signed 4/6 though, Fred, Grant, Dalot and Fellaini. Great window. :drool:

Biggest disappointment since summer of 2013, I honestly can't believe we just made one signing for our first XI in Fred.
