If we sign two new CBs and let go of both Lindelof and Maguire, that would make Evans 4th choice, which is way too high. I expect we'll sign two CBS and look to sell one of Maguire and Lindelof. Maybe both if we somehow end up getting Branthwaite, De Ligt and Yoro, but surely that's unlikely.

I suspect Shaw will cover Martinez at LCB whenever possible too.

Watching the way he plays and reacts last season, I hope he has a player-coach role here.

Hope this is an insurance policy that we never have to use. We won't become a top team unless we have a CB pairing that can start at least 30 games a season.

The strangest thing is that in my opinion he is very close to be our best ball playing CB, he is the one that is most likely to take the right decisions and he is comfortable with both feet. It's a shame that he is far from his best physically.

Also only player left in the team with premier league medals on him. What coup if he can give 20 games a season. Good role model too.

I suspect Shaw will cover Martinez at LCB whenever possible too.

He'll have to be fit - and have cover at LB - for that to be possible.

But really, it would be healthier if we don't move our starting LB to another position because of injuries.
