Maguire looked better alongside him
Other than welbeck I agree with this.Evans, Welbeck, Nani, Raphael. They could have helped us for many years.
Welbeck and Rafael? Really?Evans, Welbeck, Nani, Raphael. They could have helped us for many years.
It was like the De Gea/Onana thing.. selling him wasnt the worst decision at the time.. but we replaced him with some truly awful players..
I am happy his is back.. very happy he is doing well. Not going to be a starter, but glad to have him around.

Every person has up & down during their career and family life. You are saying anyone has a few bad games or a bad spell should be sold? It’s FM childish mindset. Pure ridiculous! All of them had fairly miserable or average spells when we sold them. It felt time.

In fact, the reason they were sold is that LVG thought either they were not good or they were not suited to his football philosophy. It has nothing to do about they had bad spells or not. It’s just a damage LVG’s judgement and decision making inflicted on the squad which was left to Jose to rectify by Jose’ own judgement and decision making. Then, it was rinsed and repeated from Jose to Ole and now to ETH. Cleaning the deck, what the hell it actually achieved?

Obviously, but that's with the gift of hindsight, and only really applies to Nani and Evans. Welbeck and Rafael might have been better than their replacements (though that arguable), but both also have woeful injury records.Their replacements were worse.

No, he wasn't. Falcao was signed a whole year later. Welbeck was considered expendable enough that he was sold on deadline day, without replacement. He saw himself as a striker, and LvG disagreed. That disagreement is what lead to him opting to leave. Could he have been a decent option to have out wide? Sure, but he didn't want to stay and be a decent option to have out wide, he wanted to go elsewhere and be a striker.Weklbeck was replaced by Falcao (sure he never missed a game) and Rafael replaced by Darmian (who might as well have been injured every game), nothing arguable about it mate.
Both were atrocious for United.
They used to play at Leicester together and had a very solid partnership. I remember quiete a few Leicester fans were telling me at the time that we are getting the worse of their 2 CBs. I thought they were just bitter cnuts, but now I can see what they meant.Maguire looked better alongside him
Hopefully he can be our Thiago Silva. But I wouldn't play him every game. Just have him play no more than once a week, otherwise we are going to run him into the ground.Calm and making defenders better. Should be first choice.

Zaha says hi. He always was and still is a menace to play against.Strange to look back now, we should never have sold Welbeck and Evans, amongst some others. We’ve really made some bizarre decisions over the past few years, Welbeck would be a better option than Martial and people are (rightly) saying Evans form has been better than any of our other CBs. Makes you realise how special SAF was.
Yeah, you’re right that it’s not my native language. That’s the reason I misread what you meant after a quick read. Not sure if English is your 2nd language, so i'll give you some allowance for your really patronising ridiculous tone here.
Rewrite the history to prove your opinion that they are garbage players? No, he wasn't. Falcao was signed a whole year later. Darmian was bang average, but he was at least available most of the time. Rafael wasn't, and was also in decline. At age 25. Tony V had basically already replaced him as starting RB at that point. Darmian essentially replaced Rafael as back-up RB, even if that wasn't the intention originally.
You're right, I was looking at the transfer tables wrong. Still, don't really see how Falcao was supposed to be a Welbeck replacement, given that he was explicitly a striker. Welbeck left because LvG was reluctant to play him there, and preferred him on the wing.Welbeck was sold the same day we signed Falcao on loan
Agreed, Welbeck was actually even worse after leaving United, his highest ever league tally since leaving us was 6 his highest for us was 9.Weklbeck was replaced by Falcao (sure he never missed a game) and Rafael replaced by Darmian (who might as well have been injured every game), nothing arguable about it mate.

Surprised that he still seems fairly quick.
At this rate i wouldn’t mind keeping him as a squad option for another year.
Rafael absolutely. Selling him for peanuts (£2.5m FFS) and replacing him with fecking Darmian was criminal. That dinosaur Van Gaal did so much damage in just two years. He deserved to be sacked in the undignified manner he was and it makes me happy that he's still seething about it to this day.Welbeck and Rafael? Really?
Yep, you could reverse all of LVGs transfers and we'd be in better shape. Plus he vetoed signing Kroos.Rafael absolutely. Nah, I just looked at the transfer tables wrong and confused myself about when we signed Falcao.Rewrite the history to prove your opinion that they are garbage players?
Stating the reason for his departure to a direct rival, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said "Welbeck doesn't have the record of Robin van Persie or Wayne Rooney. We let him go because of Falcao, but also to allow the youngsters to fit in. That is the policy. That is why I am here."
Rafael was ignored from the start. It’s apparent that LVG had formed opinion on him during the game between Bayern Munich and us. They eliminated us by the help from continental referees as it had been so often the case.
they are good players but LVG thought them not fitting to his philosophy. It’s as simple as that. LVG is an appointment we all regard it as failure.

I loved Rafael, Evans and Nani. But hey - at least his signings in their positions (Darmian, Rojo, Depay) were worthy replacements.Yep, you could reverse all of LVGs transfers and we'd be in better shape. Plus he vetoed signing Kroos.
