Adams was no oil painting either.

It's just that his ugliness was overshadowed by the missing link playing beside him.

And as for Steve Morrow.....

Martin is jolie laide as they say, Bruce is pug-ugly. And Kos has been very good even at emergency RB.

Ah yeah, I was joking really. He's done pretty well. He still relies on his pace to cover positional issues a bit but he's looking a decent player and he's improving quickly. He'll take Mertesacker's place, I imagine. Never been much of a fan of Djourou.

Personally I thought Evans had quite a good game in the second half and extra time. Might get flamed for having an opinion, but a lot of people right him off because of the goal. Harsh really considering he was shoved out of position.

Before that, and I'd like to see the stats.... How many one on ones and good tackles did Evans make? Quite a few if you ask me, he mopped up well and his timing was precise. Being a defender it's a super urge to dive in. I think if anything one goal doesn't make a player shit, it makes the fans into dickheads!

He does the job but hey every fan needs a scapegoat?

Evans had a decent game on the whole and I've lost count of the times Rio has been "bullied in the air".

Scapegoat time.

I don't why he's scapegoated though, he came through our youth system we should be supporting him all the way. He's very comfortable on the ball and great reader of the game, with a consistent run of games and the right partner he'll prove an excellent defender.

Has he ever been good?

I know he had a good spell at Sunderland but i have never seen him play well in a united shirt.
I guess you started supporting United in 2009/10 then, otherwise you'd probably remember a 15-game-run without conceding a single goal, with Evans (21-yo) and Vidic being our centre-back partnership for most of the time (in fact he was excellent throughout the 2008/09 season)

Or more likely you just chose to ignore the obvious potential Evans has and the fact that centre-backs usually do not reach their peak before they are 27, 28 years old. Either way your statements above are just ridiculous.

He's so frustrating sometimes. He can look the best player on the pitch but you never quite feel safe with him there. You always feel he's going to get caught out at one point or another which a massive brain fart.

His lack of real pace is often the real problem but if he can sort out the silly mistakes he'll go on to have a great career at United but he'll be behind both Jones and Smalling. The latter looking like the dogs bollocks at the moment.

He really doesn't do headers. Liability. End of

 fecking hell, I honestly feel for Evans, he is getting blame for absolutely everything nowadays.

Smalling didn't clear the ball when he easily had the option to do so.

He should hav cleared the flick on. Even the commentator said how did the ball end up getting there. I fecking wonder!!

Did he complete a pass to a teammate? Not the reason for us losing, but it didn't help that every pass out of the back went out for a throw or to Basel.

I'm disappointed but Jonny Evans as starter. No Thanks. I hope i regret my words in the future but at this time. No No No No!

How far off the ground was he for a simple headed clearence, 6 inch? Had vidic been on the pitch the ball would not have made it through to the scorer. Yes Smalling was at fault too following this but Evans is one big liability. Accept it.or just live in your all is fine at Utd world!!

If you cannot see that Evans should have made that header or at least admit vidic would have done. Quite simply watch another sport.

This thread...

Smalling ultimately to blame for the killer goal but Evans should have not let it get to him in fairness.

Why he refuses to jump in the air I don't know

Yes Smalling should have read what unfolded before him but he wrongfully assumed(mother of all fecks ups) that his team mate might actually jump in the air(above 6 inch) and head the fecking ball clear. Apparantly that is to much to expect from the lad that showed more prospects than Piqué.

Anyone blaming Evan's is a fecking idiot. Smalling ball watched like an amateur. Costing us a goal for the second time in the same game.

It's not about blaming Chief but Evans looked scared and created lot's of panic in other situations. If you don't see this I'm stunned. Blame Smalling for the goal but don't forget the rest.

feck johnny evans stood by him plently but the lad just chokes

Both at fault but those defending evans need to look at what he did in lead up to the goal, he didnt challenge the ball coming in which should have been intercepted with a strong header, you cant keep excusing his feebleness. He also kept losing the ball which gave us no tempo. He is a mess and for some odd reason was put in defence when its obvious jones and smalling are much better and more aggressive central defenders.

Smalling is not a natural right back and has been doing a great job in an unfamiliar postion, should have done better but his versatility is going against him. Same as jones.

Smalling was at fault for both goals. Going over to his thread to give him some abuse, I only see 3 comments today. Coming back to this thread, at least 10.

I give up.
