John Stones | Everton say they will reject all bids

He'll stay this season. With Distin and Alcaraz gone we only have him and Jagielka who'll be 33 at the start of the season. Desperately need reinforcements in that area let alone lose our best young player who happens to play in that position.
If at all he was available, how much do you think Everton would want for him?

What a world we live in when £30m is the going rate for anybody that's had a season in the Premier League and looked half decent.

He's had two seasons from the age of 19-21 where he has effortlessly slotted into a side with a changing manager and looked very good actually.

More a reference at the state of modern football and inflated "going rate" prices. Not a dig at the player per se. I started this thread. I like the kid.

I think he has the most transfer value of any CB in the Prem. I would have maybe thought Koscielny but he's apparently already 29, as is Kompany.

He's already better than Hummels despite being younger.

I don't disagree that he's a brillilant talent. I am really impressed with him and would be very happy if we signed him. I just think we should sign someone at their peak too, but maybe that's just being greedy lol

He is not that far from his peak.

Can we bid for him pls....seems Chelski want him to replace JT now :(
We'll regret not signing him if we don't IMO (ala Aguero, Cech, Essien, Robben, etc)

Apparently £20m bid from Chelski rejected. We should so get involved. £20m + Evans should seal it...

I know we have quite a few young CBs - but this guy different class IMO

We should be all over this.

I'd argue he's better than any of our present defenders, and can kick on a lot higher. Only perhaps Evans out of our CB options has as good technique, but Evans problems lie elsewhere.

Would be a great replacement for the outgoing Evans. Just the kind of squad upgrade we should be aiming for. He can then fight it out with Jones and Smalling for the CB spots alongside Ottamendi :)

Him and Smalling would be the best defensive partnership in the league, have no idea what we're playing at here.

If he's as good as everyone says he is, I think we might lose out on a huge British talent for the simple reason that LVG is on a 3 year target to win the league and needs immediate results. Otherwise we tend to go after the biggest English talent unless those at Liverpool.

We can't have them all. Was starting to think Mourinho wasn't going to address the future centre back issue. Good move for him if it happens.

Would be great business for Chelsea but terrible news in the short term for England. He needs to play games not watch them for 2 more years.

Testing the waters with that bid. I really really hope he doesn't leave but it's probably inevitable at some stage in his career, i don't think it will be this season though. He's just too valuable at the moment to let him go.

Would love for us to sign him. Good on the ball. Solid overall. This lad will be great. Not much room for him though.

Nah, Laporte would cost the same and they are at a similar level.
Laporte is the better player. However Stones is very good too, counts as homegrown and is already experienced in the league.

Laporte has a clause of 50m euro (35m pounds). Stones will probably cost a bit less.

They already have Zouma who is insane talent and will get more games this year imo, Ake and Kalas decent talents as well

I very much doubt it.

Can you buy a player from another PL side and then loan them straight back? That would be the best scenario if we buy him this summer. Get him and then loan him back to you for the season so he plays every week.

I very much doubt we would like to do that either on the off chance we get into the Europa League and try even harder to keep him OR he has an amazing season and we could get a bit more for him.
