Send them Phil Jones and cash. Surely Martinez will bite, especially if Stones wants to leave and makes it known well in advance.
He was so good today. Not just his composure on the ball which always stands out but his defending too was very very good.
Except physically he looks really skinny, all players have a few good games , I think seeing how this season goes will be a good indication of how good he is, still a bit early for all the hype
He absolutely back pocketed Chelsea today and looks a class apart to Chelsea's defenders.

Is he likely to outgrow Smalling and become a even better player or he is around that level? Smalling so far over the last year has shown enormous progress and seems to be one of the better defender in the premier league. Stones is more that likely to join City or Chelsea in a few years time. Are we going to lose on a potential world class player or is he going to be not as big a miss as Hazard?
Severely overrated in my opinion. Very good young defender with obvious potential to be one of the best around but Jones and Smalling to name just two players looked similarly promising at similar ages when we (a big club) snapped them up. Playing at the top level is a totally different beast and for me, Stones is more likely to take a Smalling development trajectory if he moves than a Shaw for example. All of a sudden his mistakes will be magnified and pressure will be on his back.
Fair enough. I hope its true because we look more likely to miss out on him that not. I just don't want him to be as much of a miss as missing out on Hazard seems to be currently. Plus I always thought Jagielka is better defender at Everton than him though. (at the moment)
Still think Laporte is the better player.
I'm sure he could adapt to playing LCB as a right footer the same as Hummels does, I just think he's too good for us to miss out on.

I agree. For example vs Barnsley he made one mistake which led to a goal. Gave away 2 needless dangerous freekicks IIRC and got sucked into space in front on few occasions.
If Say Jones had done that here would have been held against for atleast 10 games. The freekick that he gave against WBA that led to one of the flukiest goal they scored at OT was magnified for a while.
I don't think he's overly rated though, he's been rated pretty much just as a good defender with a lot of potential, it was just yesterday he had a proper world class performance against the defending Champions so of course you'll see his name everywhere today. I for one haven't changed my view on him.
Nah, I feel like on this forum especially he's rated incredibly highly. I.e "let's give them 40 million + Jones". Which is ridiculous

More talented than either Smalling or Jones imo.
Obviously he needs to keep improving as he still has mistakes in him but that's normal for a CB his age. Rio made plenty of mistakes in his time too but it was still obvious that he had outstanding talent.
Also, it seems like a few people here have only really noticed Stones this season but he's actually looked very talented since his debut for Everton.
I reckon he's the dog's bollocks and personally I'd love us to do whatever it takes to bring him to Old Trafford. To see a centre-half playing with that much confidence and ability on the ball at that young age is both very rare and so important to how most of the top sides in Europe play these days.
I think Jones will be a world class defender by the time he peaks but Stones' qualities are very special for a young English centre back. That composure and technique is genuinely the kind of things that comes along once in a generation for English defenders, and if there's one thing England know how to produce it's top class centre backs. If we're set on Smalling as half of our long-term centre back partnership then there are few defenders around that complement him better than Stones. Jones will never be the perfect partner for him.
I've not seen enough of him but I'd be interested to see how regular watchers would compare them. Stones looks the part but also plays on the right of the two, while Laporte probably has another year's development and always plays on the left.
Can't see that Brwned he's not bright enough and physically not big enough to not be clever enough. He will always fall short.
Laporte on 13-14 has been better than Stones has ever been IMO. But then, Laporte had some difficulties last season, while Stones improved quite a lot. I haven't seen Laporte play this season, while Stones yesterday had a fantastic performance.
I think that Laporte is still the better player, but then I think that Laporte is better than Varane too. It might be that I slightly overrate him. Anyway, if Laporte is still the better player, the difference is getting decreased with each Stones' great performance.
Think he will leave Everton next summer but it won't be just Chelsea who are interested.

Certainly! Counts as homegrown, doesn't need time to adapt (although many players from EPL adapt easily too, just look at Darmian), already knows English and less chance of wanting to join some club in Spain. Add to that, I see Shaw, Smalling and Stones as starters for England soon enough (no idea who will be the RB, probably Clyne), so it would be a nice bit of continuity.
Give em the crock + cash, they won't refuse.
Another transfer request in January? He's probably pretty happy he wasn't allowed to join Chelsea at the moment but I can see a few of the other bigger clubs being very interested.

Stones should be our main priority next summer. Him and Smalling can make a pairing for club and country for the next few years. Don't really want Jones to go the other way, but if that is what it takes to get him, then i would not hesitate a moment.
