Joe Rogan

Don't know anything about Terrence Howard and I'm not going to listen to the podcast, but is he a nutjob or something? Just reading his Wikipedia page he sounds dumb as feck. Apparently he's convinced that 1x1=2 using the following logic:

"How can it equal one?" he said. "If one times one equals one that means that two is of no value because one times itself has no effect. One times one equals two because the square root of four is two, so what's the square root of two? Should be one, but we're told it's two, and that cannot be."

Wtf? Who told him the square root of 2 was 2?

Let's say you have one organge. Then you multiply it with zero. You're left with one orange. Same principle applies here. You have one orange, then you multiply it with one. You'll get two oranges, not magically remain with one. It's really not that hard. The question is what happens when you multiply it with two. Some think you get three, but I think it's actually still two.

Oh my. He clearly skimped on his primary school homework.

What happens if you multiply 2 flannels with a duck billed platypus?

The grifters have mastered speaking at a level that people know it’s bullshit but don’t have the understanding to disprove or argue against it.

I got about 10 minutes in when he started mugging off Einstein

absolutely batshit but it's impressive he manages to deliver it with such confidence and assurance

I see Rogan’s managed to get a reputable scientist to debate graham hancock so I’ll listen to that… can’t imagine Hancock fairing too well in that one
I managed just long enough to become aware he didn't mean his birth shtick metaphorically.

You’re not serious, are you? Because in a week of time travel parody threads, that’s still the dumbest thing on here.

I'm sure he's a decent actor.

Can't believe I missed this. Surely this is a wind up? 1x1 = 1 because 1 is singular. Also 1 x 2 = 2 which should be enough to explain exactly why your reasoning is wrong. You're confusing addition with multiplication. Maffs is hard innit?

I did A level maths and I can’t work out why 1 x 1 = 2 no matter how hard I try

One once.

TH must have had 2 doses of meds that day.

It was a great episode. One of the few ones in the past few years worth listening too. I was throughly entertained.

It's my favourite party trick, but it's significanty harder to get the delivery right in person

Well you got it well here. I was 50/50 tbh. I thought it was a wind up but it was convincing enough to not be sure and not sure enough to fall for posting a reply, so congrats. Well played.

I dont mind Terrence Howard, he just sometimes becomes a bit like the characters he plays

Joe Rogan keeps platforming and encouraging both frauds and actually mentally ill people. How can anyone still claim he's a "good interviewer", or has "interesting guests"?

These are putting me to sleep ffs at least Terry was interesting.....

The follow up to Terrence Howard’s JR podcast for those that found enjoyment in the first. Can’t think of many people better than Eric Weinstein to come on and be the knowledge to counter Terrences acid trip philosophy. He handled it really well IMO.

Genuinely entertaining podcast, ramped up to almost surreal levels when the whiskey comes out.

I do not need to watch any YT videos on this to realize Howard must be one of the dumbest persons on the planet. The main problem with the US is that utter debility is financially rewarded (and watching it on YT is financially rewarding it) and thus has becomes a desirable condition.

It’s funny how the Joe Rogan subreddit is just about shitting on him now. Most posts are about how they used to be fans, but now it’s just repetitive UFC/stand-up comedy bullshit or right-wing nonsense.

I think he’s probably smarter than you dude to be fair. Misguided? Definitely. Mentally ill? Possibly. Dumb? That’s a really stupid and lazy label.

Whatever you need to think chap but what I do find interesting in this podcast are 2 people totally disagreeing, one a dude at the top of his field and the other a naive dude with big and unruly ideas being schooled. Both doing it with dignity and good nature on display.

Weinstein could have smashed him to bits and chose not to. He showed patience and compassion and didn’t throw all of THs ideas out because some are of value. If only all modern day disagreements were solved with such dignity and understanding the world would be a much better place.

The world would be a better place if idiots weren’t given platforms to spread their nonsense, just so the host can make a buck.

Excellent

dumb seems like quite an appropriate label someone who thinks 1x1=2 to be fair

1 x 1 = 2 is obviously wrong in isolation for sure. Kind of a problem though assuming that because that is dumb, everything else he says is dumb right? We all have the capacity to say dumb things but are we all actually dumb? Of course not, well most of us anyhow. And can’t it just be labelled as ‘wrong’? Why do we always have to use terms like dumb?

Aside from that though dude, the podcast, in my view was very entertaining and educational with some lovely moments of real spontaneous comedy. Both Eric and Terence were very good together … after a few whiskeys.

Anyway, only posted it because I enjoyed it, I wasn’t promoting JR or TH especially but joyless fecks always swoop in like dementors, sucking any joy out of life.

Who’s the arbiter over who are idiots and what is nonsense dude? You?

Personally I don’t think either TH (for all his incorrect, wild and loose claims) or EW are idiots.

Ideally Joe Rogan would set the lower limit somewhere above “1x1=2” or conspiracy theorist calling grieving parents crisis actors. But he apparently doesn’t have the integrity to do that.

he says so many things that are dumb though, I only listened to a part of the podcast and it was relentless

1x1=2 is just the easiest example to pull from as people don't particularly want to spend time debunking his streaming piles of horseshit

I thought the episode with Terrance was interesting and it was equally interesting seeing how EW thoughtfully went about trying to understand where he was coming from and what his ideas were based on. The ideas were shown out to be what they really were but the key point for me was how to deal with people who have headed off on a weird tangent

Again, does that make all of his being, everything he is saying dumb? No. As Eric pointed out, he knows his stuff but he used a blackjack metaphor which worked well. ‘Terrence, you keep hitting when you have 19’.

This, and the genuine laughs too. There were some lovely good natured moments from all 3.

It doesn't. But nobody is claiming that because that's just absurd. And it's pretty disingenuous to suggest that calling someone 'dumb' because they consistently say dumb shit is inferring that.
