Joe Rogan

Rogan is terrified of the Trump base tbh, he initially endorsed RFK jr earlier in the race only to reverse course when all the MAGA snowflakes started raising their pitchforks and threatened to cancel him. So this comes as no surprise.

Smart from Kamala not to go on I think.Trump was locked in as his pick, her going onto the pod would have given him a kingmaker (shudder) kind of role, a legitimacy to this endorsement of Trump.

He's definitely drifted further right so it's not really a surprise.

Question is, does he have anywhere near as much influence as he did several years ago? There's millions of podcasts these days, I'm sure his viewership has dropped off.

I wonder if this was the reason for the shift towards trump in the betting in the last 24 hours

On poly market Harris went from 44% to 37%

Don't think Joe Rogan or that Tony Hinchcliffe bloke care one bit about Trump. What they care about is aligning themselves with people like Musk who have money and will enable a platform for their shitty views.

I was just about to say something similar. Tony "hungry puffer jacket wearing wolf" Hinchcliffe feeds off this stuff and the more people subject to his & the Austin "comedy" scene's shallow attempts at humor the more it feeds his ego. "The whole comedy is free speech" horse manure as an excuse to spout racist or homo/transphobic vitriol wears thin very quickly.

As for Rogan, I've recently given up listening entirely. I used to learn stuff listening to the guests but the whole thing has devolved into a 2-3 hour Joe Rogan appeasement excercise. When he gets high profile guests like Musk on, the dynamic seems to shift in favour of the guest. It comes across as if they're letting him be part of the gang and he's now happy to morally bankrupt himself line to maintain his status within it.

Rogan is all over the map with his views. He's an avid hunter, is into mixed martial arts, supports UBI, recreational DMT, and now Trump. This endorsement is pretty luke warm and incidental; almost as if it was done because Musk or Trump himself asked him to (obviously in exchange for future favors).

But we were told he was in fact a centrist and it was just us lefty loons, for whom nothing is left-wing enough, who though he was right-wing :(

It’s just recency bias. He talked to Musk recently and swallowed his bullshit, hook line and sinker. So he’s all in on Trump. When was the last time he talked to anyone from the other end of the political spectrum? Those earlier quotes came from a time when he wasn’t cashing in on the right wing grift dollar and was exposed to more diverse opinions.

I get the sense it's much more than recency bias. Had Harris decided to go on last week, he would still have endorsed Trump. He has just gone full right-wing over the last 3-4 years driven by a mix of his own version anti-trans, anti-establishment, and pro-conspiracy world view.

He spoke with John Fetterman literally like 3 days ago.

Roided up meathead who is conspiratorial by nature and high on his own supply of bullshit and ego become a bona fide right wing nutjob, shocker!

It also has a lot to do with becoming very wealthy after his Spotify deal in 2021, which he just renewed for $250m. People with a lot of money tend to gravitate towards politicians who advance policies that keep their taxes as low as possible and those that don't (like Harris) generally don't get their support. There are of course outliers like Cuban and a few others.

I agree in principle, but wasn't he already very, very wealthy before that Spotify deal?

He was doing well by way of his comedy, UFC, and podcast gigs, but his net worth skyrocketed after the $100m Spotify deal three years ago, and is going up further now that he's renewed for even more. If the figures quoted online are accurate, his wealth has gone up $8-9x from roughly 27m in 2019 to $200m this year.

Ah. Well that makes more sense than recency bias alone!

Such a weird way to start a tweet. It’s almost as if he was hacked

Joe Rogan is a fighter and not a "good boy" like for example Bernie Sanders is. Rogan supported Bernie even after his 100m deal with Spotify. Bernie is a good boy and tolerates being cheated twice out of winning democratic primaries. I myself voted twice for Bernie in democratic primaries as I am indipendent (and will forever remain independent), but did not vote for Hillary and Biden. feck them. Trump, as flawded as he is, is still a far better option than zombies like Hillary, Biden and Kamala.

I used to like Kyle Kulinski. He was frequent guest on Rogan's show and I did like those episodes. Now he is trying to get YT views by shitting on Rogan. If it wasn't for Rogan, I'd never even hear of him.

Bernie ran in 2019. The Spotify deal was in 2021.

Voting for Bernie Sanders and Trump is like... actually I can't come up with a sufficiently stupid example. In any case "Joe Rogan is a fighter, unlike Bernie Sanders" is a fascinating take. I have to assume you know nothing about Bernie Sanders' history.

Let’s not get into this. Let him be cause it’s going to be a bullshit excuse anyway.
I'm already aware that that poster is a poster of idiot posts, I was just curious to see what they come up with this time.

Again with the homogenous echo chamber. So sad this place has no room for shitty unfounded takes :(

What state are you in? I thought you lived in Serbia!

Well, John Fetterman went on there prior and did an absolutely terrible job at explaining how the border should be fixed, or how elections should be made more secure.

We always apreciate some context on The Caf. If you are calling people "zombies" it would be good to know what forms these opinions?

@ExoduS - a pic of Bernie Sanders not fighting for civil rights for African Americans…

Bernie is the man. I really wanted him to win democratic nomination. It was so satisfying when Hillary lost. Disgusting fraud of a person.

@ExoduS - a pic of Donald Trump being a fighter for the execution of innocent black teenagers…

Joe Biden and policies he promoted have put more black men in prisons than Trump will ever do.

I wish I looked that good.

"these voters composed an estimated 6%-12% of Sanders supporters"

Or in other words: a small fraction of an already small group of voters. Some would maybe call them a group of idiots.

Some.

You are making a very dumb point while calling other group "idiots". Bernie's following was huge and organic. 6-12% of voters who said "feck you to blue no matter who" probably won election for Trump in 2016.
