-Pizzi is not Zidane but his best season, when he was the best player in the league he showed regularly a good level of football. He was nowhere near worldclass but was much involved in the team and played really well. Who, for you would bem considered the best player in the league instead of him?
-Fejsa is a really good player, although he is decaying right now. He played a fundamental role in the midfield along the past seasons and for me, considering a full season, yes, I consider him the best DM in the league. If you don't see his importance i suggest you to start watching the games with more attention.
-Rafa is not world class but how many players do tou think are on his level or above on the league?
-Jonas was a better player then Pizzi in 15/16 if that is the season you are talking About as was Slimani as was Joao Mario. Adrien as well was a better player then Pizzi (still is).

- The Rafa comment was based on what was said on "SerBenfiquista" because they say some shocking stuff on there. Rafa was better than any winger at Sporting because are team is horrible. This is small samples my overall point is Benfica fans overhype A LOT of there player. Gaitan was "World Class". Renato Sanches was the golden boy of Portugal , so was Nelson Oliveira then Andre gomes was going to be one of the best midfielder in the world etc etc. They also say Pizzi is better then Bruno Fernandes

@Rei Eusébio the only great player that was really formed in Benfica from that list is Bernardo Silva. Cancelo is good too but has fundamental positioning issues, his physical capabilities are more natural than nurtured.

My friend Seixal will never provide to Portugal what Sporting has. All the biggest achievements in our history was with the base of Sporting's academy. The greatest Portuguse player of all time is from Sporting. 2 of the top 3 are from Sporting.
We have dropped off but its in our nature and we will dominate all youth classes as we have for a majority of our history.
Players do most of their development from childhood (7/8/9y old) until 14-15. At Junior level +16 you're working in polishing your game especially tactically. Anyone that played football understands that but whatever fits your delusion pal.

Most of the good ones in his list had professional games before coming to Benfica like Lindeloff who has 41apps for Vasteras according to Wikipédia. Hardly a product from their youth academia.

Like you said Semedo was 18 and Oblak was 17. That is hardly a product of there youth academy. I can give a bit of a slide with Ederson who was 15.

I agree and for someone who has not improved enough yet. He was not even close to being the best player in his league. One more year in Portugal would have done a world of good for him. Benfica could have got the same price next year.
If he’s grossly overrated (like lots of posters are saying) - then they will do well to sell him for that price this year - why wait, if his form drops off a cliff he will be worth a hell of a lot less in 12 months.
Why should they risk another season to get the same price. That's just bad business.

He's our best defender.
Overrated in the sense that he is no Generational talent like he is being made out to be but I think he has the 'ceiling" of say a Bernardo Silva.
So since he is still young and would certainly play well in the Portuguese league again they could still get the same price based on the hype.I think.
I see mixed opinion on here. Bailey fully healthy could be argued as the better defender but Lindelof could be considered a better defender at United based on the fact that all your CB options are frankly terrible.

I think that it compensates them to have to pay 30 or 40 million more.
