120m for a kid is just ridiculous. Good luck to Felix, he’ll have some real pressure on him. Honestly, I hope he doesn’t live up to the hype so that we can laugh at Atletico and so it serves as a lesson for a club to never pay this kind of money for a kid.

He's one of the better CB's in the league. Granted, he's not VVD but he's shown that he belongs in the United back 4. He's definitely better than Bailly and more consistent in his performances.
He was just behind Luke Shaw in the United Player of the year votes and if you ask me I think he deserved it over him.
Just because the team, in general, has been poor doesn't mean that you can't distinguish quality when you see it. Fact is he's been pretty much starting every game when fit whilst most other CBs have been in and out of the XI because of their lack of quality/form.
The main discussion over who we should pursue as our CB target for this summer transfer window has been in regards to who should play next to Lindelöf, which says a lot really.

Massive gamble from atletico. If i were Diego i would have gone to Inter this summer. Losing Godin, griezmann and rodri are huge, and the recruitments of players the last years have been sketchy. I could see them missing out of CL next year.

That is certainly part of it and also the fact that you could see a measurable improvement from his first season to his second and that leads to hope that as a young player he can still get better, particularly if we find a strong partner for him. Smalling, Jones and Rojo have peaked and could even be said to be declining and Bailly seems to have run out of chances between his wildly variable form and continual injury issues.

Bailly is truly utterly terrible. Lindelof is prime Vidic in comparison.
Biggest issue with Bailly right now is he only has 1 year left on his contract and so we are already at the point where we need to extend him if we don't move him on. He really has not shown enough to earn an extension and because of his age and the notion that he still has potential he is a more saleable asset than Jones or Rojo for example.

They've already signed Felipe, wrapping up deals for Ceballos, Hector Herrera and Joao Felix in addition to the addition of a new LB likely to be Tello or Tagliafico. Possible/probable they add a new RB and maybe someone extra up front too. Players like Giminez are quality and more likely to step up further in the absence of Godin for example.
Lindelof could play half as bad as he was in his first season and that's still better than Bailly.

If his improvement keeps on the upward for the next couple of seasons then yes. I do prefer he had a stronger, dominating partner next to him. I like Lindelof though and think there's good potential there.
Yeah, they need someone who can score goals consistently. I think they will continue to be really hard to play against and now with a bit more youth, be faster but will need a consistent scorer. I like Morata and hope it's him but I think he's better suited alongside someone who's more prolific.

We don't prioritize winning the youth league. If we did, Felix, Gedson, Florentino and others would have played it. Our great young talent gets to play in the B team and the main squad. I see Lindelof as someone who could be on the level of Henning Berg, a solid, good defender. He’s never going to be world class ala, Stam, Ferdinand or Vidic. The real shame is that we don’t have the WC player beside him. Given he’s probably our best CB is, quite frankly not good enough.

I used to see him play when he was 14 in Padroense (I played there as well and live nearby). All your real academy products are average and just media hype, with Bernardo (great player) and Ruben Diás (good but rough) being the exceptions. I would love for my club to play youth but that only works if you're Benfica. 4-5 friendly teams means you have almost half the games where you have no real pressure and it's guaranteed wins. You can play youth and manage the team for the real games where refs will help in case you need like with Braga, Feirense, Rio Ave, to name a few.Porto sure is to blame in many things but we just can't afford to play kids like you do, we have 34 very difficult games where there's very little room for error. 3 defeats is fatal in this crap league.

*Allegedly this guys friend works for Atletico does all the written stuff and he says that 30% Mendes is paying then Atletico are selling Correa for 50M to Benfica. So the offer would be 40M + Correa for 70%. Mendes has the other 30% BUT they have to do the Correa deal on the side so that Vieira (The Benfica President) can justify and save face by telling the fans Felix got sold for 120M and say "they payed the buyout clause we could not do anything".

I never said we didn't want to win the Youth League. I said it wasn't a priority. If its was we would held back our best youth talent like you guys do. Our best young players are in the main squad already. We could have several of them play in Youth League if we wanted to.
