It's the usual Caf cycle. Players that don't play for us and are linked to us are always overhyped by muppets, just because of the new toy prospect. With us he has fellow compatriots, its a bigger club, it's a club that showed persistent interest since the summer and a very good chance of a cup (for example, we are still in Carabao Cup whereas Arsenal exited). Perhaps even more, without a threat to gametime given we are very short in the striker department.

Worth noting that whilst we have the Glazers, it will be near impossible to beat a rival to a signature. We move so slowly due to their reluctance to release funds that we can't expect to swiftly close these sort of deals. It's another reason why the "you've spent £xxx" argument doesn't reflect the full picture.
