Joao Felix / on loan to Chelsea

Sounds like he doesn't fit Simeone's system, mind you no option to buy suggests they don't want to sell him permanently
That is strange as it is not as if it is a new coach. I think Simeone would have to be one of the longest serving coaches in a top club that I can think of and their system is based on everyone working their arses off. Erik demands high standards so the alarm bells would be ringing for me if we bring in a player that is not prepared to put a shift in for the team.

You don't "take a punt" for 20 million for 6 month loan. Or 15 million for 6 months. Thuram is a punt. Depay is a punt. Felix is the furthest thing from that. He also plays in a role we not only have players already, but a role that is arguably more complex than that of a traditional 9 and dependent on good team play. By the time he gels with the team enough to be useful in his position, he will be going back to Spain without having done much at all. Unless Atletico Madrid massively reduce the fee, we should be going nowhere near him. And we also don't have time to play their games either. We were pulled into the same game in the summer with De Jong and where did that take us?

He isn't worth the money nor the wait. Pretty much what @yumtum said. A played that failed in La Liga is suddenly going to come for 6 months and do well in the Premier League. Right.
Agree with everything you’ve said in the first part. However, he’s failed in La liga because he’s playing under a very negative manager who can’t get the best out of him. His style of play doesn’t suit simeones. Ten Hag is working miracles with halve of our squad at the minute, if he sees something in Felix then he’s gonna try and do what he can to sign him, he obviously feels like he’ll bring something to the team. ETH is all about team play and Felix will be good at that.

not because of that, because it gives us another option.

Antony hasn’t set the world alight, and we don’t have another competent right wing option at present.

He’s moved bruno to the right wing quite a few times lately so he clearly likes the idea.
Bruno has been moved to the RW due to injuries rather than ETH preferences. He wouldn't spend 100m on Antony just for him to quickly seek another option without even playing a full season yet. Not to mention Antony is one the players he's coached before.

There is also Sancho whom Ten Hag is going through great length to improve mentally and physically who can play on the right.

When the squad is fully fit, Bruno isn't going to be played on that right side.

I am a watcher of Utd Peoples TV and Sam off there is convinced Erik wants more of a fluid front three rather than pure penalty box number 9

We need to pay €12-13 million to pay his wages? how much would that be in total for 6 months? €30 million?? feck off ye bunch of twats, club filled with thug players.

Utd will push this until 31st Jan,will be forced to make do with current options for City and Arsenal

I do not remember reading anything regarding Real pimping out the two mentioned players for loan deals
Have you got the source?

So it has to be a 1-to-1 situation for you? There's like no nuance in your world? Calm

it's crazy amount just to loan. Many clubs will laugh at us if we pay them.
Glad chelsea not want to pay for crazy amount Benfica want for Enzo.

I can see this dragging on to the final day and no deal will be made, as Simeone and Felix kiss and make up.

Just like you, I've no idea how Antony will fare here, but I'm pretty certain that Felix would be excellent because he's a high level player with a very high ceiling. He'd be one of our best 2-3 players, it's just a matter of whether he would be what we need in terms of a forward.

Is he? Like, where is this coming from? What's he done to warrant such high praise? Flashy highlight reels? Been good at Benfica? So was Darwin Nunez, and I doubt anyone would argue he is tearing the Premier League apart. Back to Joao Felix, he's done nothing in La Liga for 3 years. His stats are woeful. The excuse is he's been playing under the wrong manager and in the wrong system. Excuses very reminiscent of one Donny van de Beek not too long ago, who also needed the right manager and the right system and he would definitely come good. He also has flashy highlight reels and was good at Ajax, mind you. I digress. The point is, Felix has done absolutely nothing and proven absolutely nothing to be given such extreme levels of praise. Or be worth the money being thrown around for him. He is not a 9 and is not a prolific goalscorer either. Which is what we need. We don't need a lesser Bruno Fernandes or Christian Eriksen, to create chances no one can convert. And definitely not at even half the quoted fee.

Silly amount to pay for a short loan. There isn't even an option to buy?

People seem to think he's a huge talent but I'm skeptical of his goal threat and dynamism in a team (us) and league (PL) that needs / demands ot.

If we’re going to be paying 13m then there should at least be an option to buy where the loan fee is deducted at the end of it. Why would we just pay them a fee for a player we won’t keep?

Nah, it’s only 6 months so I think we only need to pay 6-7m for his wages. Still the transfer fees is still too much. If we want to, we can try to make a deal with them that we will pay 4m loan fees plus his wages and if we get champions league spot then we will pay another 6m loan fees.

I think United should negotiate close to the demands of Ath Madrid for the loan maybe incentivise a purchase for summer as by then the new owners should be running things. If Felix is good trigger the purchase, if he's bad don't follow up the deal.

The upside is that he's a good player to have on loan in a situation where the club have next to no financial outlay that can afford anything other than a stop gap which isn't necessarily efficient when the only striker is injury prone.

Felix is the best of a bad situation. It's a shame how useless the Glazers are because some investment in the squad would show some real ambition. I think that ETH is capable of taking this team to the next level.

I think going in at €4M is just to get the ball rolling and they will hopefully meet in the middle at around €8M

Makes sense but we should really be getting this done before the next league game.

The month is too busy with fixtures to mess around.

I’m sure we want to get it done ASAP hence why we’ve bid but they’re currently asking for an extortionate price that no team will pay. Until they realise no team will pay it the price isn’t coming down. Outside of “we’re not paying you 11m quid plus his wages for 5 months work with no buy-option because that’s just absolutely absurd” there isn’t really much we can do to quicken the process is there? Although I’m sure someone somewhere will blame Darren Fletcher.

If we didn’t have a history of being rubbish with a summer filled with trips to Europe coming back empty handed I’d also be completely rational about what you are saying.

Well we tried everything to sign FDJ because he was the manager’s first choice then moved on to Casemiro when accepting it definitely wasn’t happening. Not convinced it was quite the disaster and hysteria the internet made it out to be - actually I’d argue the appointment of ETH combined with the players we did sign in the summer was rather fecking good.

A simple 'No" would have sufficed

"If he's all that why do they want rid?"

despite reports saying his relationship with the manager's broken. I mean, you're right. I should have known better

Atletico play Barcelona in the league on Sunday evening.

Surely if he's not in the squad, that'll be a big indication that he's trying to leave?

I’m not sure he’ll be a hit at United but I certainly would like to find out :)

People don't like to admit this, but he is a huge flop. And he's going to come to a more physical league, mid season. It could take him his entire loan to adjust to the league, just for Arsenal or Chelsea to sign him up in the summer and reap the benefits of us paying for him to adjust.

Felix is sex. Anyone thinking he's not a good fit can do one.

I think this one will happen. I cant see Ten Hag wanting Choupo-Moting. But whatever he DOES choose to do, we must back him all the way as fans

If Atletico is really holding up for that 12-13M they're going to keep him. No one's paying that much for a 6 month loan deal for an out of favor player.
It’s a 5 month loan and Atleti can whistle if they think we’re paying 20% of the transfer fee they paid when buying him. They’ll flog him in the summer for a profit as well.

The problem is that this money comes out of the summer budget so we best hope there’s new owners by then or we’ll be back in for Choupo-Moting in August
