Despite his mistake yesterday, Still think he's a good player to have in the squad.
His next move will be slashing the price of his JLingz brand aftershave for the 10th time, which I imagine is now about as marketable as raw sewage.
Think he'll be sending his esports team giftboxes of Jlingz merch just to get rid of some of it.
He probably has a room or two in his house full of the tat.
I wouldn’t start him over any of the attacking players we have and that includes the likes of Amad, Elanga and Mejbri. He isn’t signing a new contract so why give him a chance when he is going to leave for free anyway. That time should go to a younger player so that player can develop.
But knowing Ole he will start him against West Ham cause his argument will be he needs to get his confidence back and he knows West Ham.

Big question here was are Ole's words during pre season about Lingard just diplomatic or true. Well, there were true. He is the one who wants Lingard to stay (and by that to get new contract). And that was the reason why Lingard refused WH. This is basic logic, ffs.

Something like that would have been nice. Instead it seems like he genuinely wants him to stay here and even play. Which is... not great news.
I think with Jones, Bailly, Pereira and now Lingard this club is demonstrating that it has a very clear policy of not wanting players to walk away for free so long as being contracted to the club means they can appear on the balance as an asset of some value.
The fact that it ends up costing more money to keep them (money that is wasted if they are not playing) or the fact that it probably influences the manager’s selections as he wouldn’t want players to become disgruntled and negatively affect the whole team’s morale, do not seem to be strong enough disincentives for the practice to cease.
The practice seems beyond stupid to me, but then I’m not a suit in the boardroom so what do I know? It might be genius.

Because the past has proven that to be that case? That´s why he left on loan to West Ham? What an idiotic, absolutely no sense comment. Lingard looks to be in the form of his life and sure he´ll get game time.
For the people who dislike Lingard, what would make you happier, him signing a contract extension or him rejecting one? We're going to assume time machines don't exist and he can't move to West Ham last month.

He’s been in good form other than the cock up! Useful player to have in the squad. But depends on the price of a new contract
Of course he should sign, but not on stupid wages that makes him unsellable. There will be plenty of buyers if he fails to get playing time at United.
Continuing to reject contract offers and leaving on a free, but we all know this will never happen.
It's United's fault for not being insistent in the summer and forcing him out. An adequate offer of £10-15m would have come in and we should have just taken it. If he refused to move, then a season in the U23s it would be.
We will offer a new contract and he will accept it. Ultimately making him unsellable for years to come due to no clubs suitable to his ability being able to afford his wages. It's all a PR exercise right now to make him look like he's considering what is best for his career. If we stuck to our guns and only offered contracts with a salary decrease, he would no doubt agree by the end of the season. United is the greatest stage for his ego and 'brand'. He won't walk away easily.
The problem is not what Lingard wants, or what Lingard does, or even what *we* think of Lingard.
The problem is that our club does not know what it wants. If the club wants to keep Lingard (and Pogba) they should have signed new contracts in May. If they don't sign, or if the club does not want to keep them, they should have been sold last summer, for whatever money.
It is a major problem that such a great club lets players run into the last year of their contracts. This is the root of the problem. We can't blame the players, they just want the best for themselves. We should blame the club management for these situations.
I would he delighted to see him leave even if its on a free, hell, I'd pay his contract out and boot him out now.

For both Lingard and Manchester United, him staying is not a good move.
For Manchester United, he is not good enough, and for Jesse Lingard, he will be found out more often than not.
