I presume he’s talking about the season straight after his West Ham loan spell. Where the team was utter shite and he barely kicked a ball.
But he did and he was terrible when given the chance.
Juan Mata finished the season as a first team player. And the sad thing is it wasn't his passing or his touches that got him in the team, he showed more energy and defensive discipline than about 6 other players who got chances before him. Lingard wasn't dropped because he's a pretty mediocre player, he was dropped for being half assed and unprofessional.
