Lingard did have some good moments under van Gaal and Mourinho but pretty much all of that evaporated afterwards. I don't really remember him doing anything positive after Solskjaer's interim spell as manager.

He should've been sold to West Ham in 2021. Maybe Lingard would've wanted things to end differently for him but I don't know why he felt that was owed to him. He hadn't been a prominent member of the squad for a very long time before he left and plenty of players were leaving at the end of last season. As Gary Neville said at the time, plenty of high profile United players down the years didn't get a send off.
 
That's kinda sweet.
His brother's post afterwards was idiotic but to be honest he probably should have gotten the chance to come on in the last 5 mins.

Scored 3 league goals in his last 4 and a half years as a Utd player but yeah it was just politics, that's why he wasn't starting every game.

Academy product who used his academy product status as an excuse to get away with being a childish twat and leaking stories to the press. Not sure why he was expecting the red carpet to be rolled out for him when he left.

Says it all when he thinks merely doing well in training and being an academy product is enough to be a regular starter.
 
Players who did so much more in the shirt and loved it arguably a lot more than him didn’t get the perfect send off. Move on Jesse.

Why do we seem to be the only football club where players and managers hold grudges forever after leaving? Liverpool ex players adore them regardless of how they were treated.

Not the whole video, but he has pretty much said what everyone has been talking about for seasons now, that -- particularly during the Ole era -- it was a free for all, there was no control. John Murtough was the guy to call him up and ask him if he wanted days off with the Rangnick thing, Lingard said he just wanted to play football which is why he wanted to be loaned out.

He also said what Ronaldo said, facilities are way behind others like City and it saddens him because he wants United to be the best of the best, he wanted to help the club be more modern and with social media and YouTube too because they were miles behind and he wanted them to stay relevant.

He seems to almost say that the players didn't care about the owner discourse that was going on with the fans and such - but that they definitely wanted upgrades.
 
It’s hardly the Ronaldo interview in terms of tone, timing or intent but it won’t be difficult for tabloids to take the bullet points and turn it into such.
 
The biggest problem with him is that just because he was an academy player he felt like he's special that deserved special things.
He forgot about Cleverley, Januzaj, and dozen of others who were a much bigger talent than him and had to leave the club because they didn't fit in the club's plan. And no, they didn't get a send off either.
Lingard is a decent player, I would love to keep him as a squad player if not for his questionable attitude and leaks to the media. If he had a decent personality, I wouldn't mind him playing at United until he retires.
Blaming alcohol is basically blaming himself for a lack of self control. It's not like he's 15. And I'm fairly certain drinking is okay as long as you're not overdoing it.

Thanks for this @Wittmann45 , I may watch the vid anyway but it does seem to be just dragging crap up just when we seem to be turning a corner. Will forever be grateful for his FA Cup final goal and its good to see academy players coming through but some of his antics like the dances and all that nonsense drove me mad at times!
 
The bit about internet content being miles behind shows hits real focus. Glad he's gone... wonder if he'll ever grow up.

His mother was unwell and led to himself becoming unwell because he was having to cope with several high pressure situations at once (A sick mother, being his siblings guardian and playing for United). Many people turn to drink in those situations. Obviously it isn't the answer but he isn't the first and won't be the last.
 
Even before his difficulties he was a little piss ant.

We all have troubles - Life is fu*king hard.

His job was to perform on the pitch not do bleedin youtube or review the facilities and how shiny the fu*king tiles are.
