The others are more fun but yea that's good too.

I still stand by those comments, he's been poor throughout his United career until recently. Apart from a goal or two in a final and that 1 pre-season where he scored loads he hasn't shown anything.

He's on Pep's PEDs as of December.

Believed in his ability to be a good player for us and provide quality as a squad player. He's surpassing that so far. Long may it continue. Hopefully, he becomes a Lampard/Mueller for us.

Well he showed enough to have faith shown in him by a number of managers and have plenty of people on here rate his potential.

Late boomers do exist. I really, really hope this isn't a purple patch. I have been convinced on him since the Arsenal game but I am still not sure if he can be our starting player for years to come. On current form? Hell yes.

I can't just be form though can it. Constantly scoring worldies... the answer was Jesse!

Pure bollox fella. Despite being played out of position he’s shown that he is a big game player. Not many players have his record in finals. He’s shown plenty of promise if you’d looked properly, the difference now is that he’s being played in his position and gained consistency because of it

*Round of applause*

Will finish his career as United faithful servant.
Will have more ups and downs but i guarantee he'll keep improving; Could be our own version of a more mobile Sheringham.
I'll tell you what, playing with Mata may well have had an impact.

Another MOTM performance.
When all our other players are flailing around, trying to score...but can't, this guy comes along and scores a vital goal.
Some are not convinced that he really can't be this good and that this is just a purple patch.
But I am beginning to think that this guy is the real deal. He just happens to be a late bloomer. I remember Shearer bloomed late, but when he bloomed he was awesome and perhaps Lingard is also a late bloomer.

At this rate it will be the RIVAL FANS that will HATE HIM.

((Sorry about the caps)).

Lingard is currently our second highest scorer and fourth most productive attacker overall(goals+assists), who'd have thought. Major step up from last season.

Not really. Lingard has simply came into his own. What the poster you quoted said wasn't necessary false, in fact he's right.

Nothing to really argue about, happens to many players where they come into their own and improve their game while bringing in consistency despite having previously been known to be average to poor.

I love these posters that come in and state as cooly as you like ‘well players just sometimes get better etc, doesn’t mean we were wrong about lambasting them.’

If you are so aware of how players mature and suddenly turn better all of a sudden then why call them ‘championship level, not good enough, never will be, not a top 4 number 10, shite” with so much conviction 10 weeks ago?

You can’t have it both ways!

Acknowledge that you were wrong with some grace, continuing to act superior in your unequivocal footballing knowledge is an absolute spoof.

This thread is now on the extreme in the other direction. He was never a championship player but he isn't amazing either. Truth is that he is somewhere in the middle but in a good patch of form. People will soon be calling him average all over again unless he goes Harry Kane on us.

Good squaddie. Scores great goals.

Can he really be that much of a late bloomer, or is it just the purple patch of all purple patches?

He always had it, the coaches love him and we can see why now. Only the haters didn't have any clue.
Can I just say, as President of Lingard FC - that membership registrations club are being delayed at this moment.
We hope to process all of your applications in due time.

shut up and take my money!

Fairly pointless stat but pretty cool.

More surprised by the low Pogba to Lukaku stat. Thought that would be much, much higher seeing as they link up constantly.

Apart from the two goals against Arsenal, every other goal of him has been excellent.

How does he have the frame of mind to keep scoring these highlight reel goals in pressure situations?

Lingard: £0
Lacazette: £52,000,000

Lingard has scored 6 times since Lacazette last scored

Surely Barca should be in for him? They will really benefit from Messi linking up with his idol.

Haters will say it’s photoshopped

...8 goals in his last 10 appearances what a player!

Giggs once said that Lingard in training has nothing to criticize for because every movement, passes, shots, and crosses were made with right timing.
His hard work on training is finally paying off.
Lingard and Pogba are the next two players to represent our academy in the first team. Axel and McTominay we would have to wait and see.

Excellent post.

What i love most about Lingard's play is that it's almost impossible to mark him out of the game due to his constant movement. He involves himself in the match with his touches and is very slippery when moving with the ball and then there are the goals. Tactically a defender's nightmare.

It's a very good question. Some players just have "it," and some players don't. Mental fortitude? Maybe some can't cope with the pressure.

Ronaldo sure as feck didn't have it at Madrid until Ramos ripped the weight of the world off his shoulders (scoring the game-tying goal in the CL Final against Atleti in the dying moments). Then, suddenly he's smashing clutch goals left and right for the last four years.

Absolutely. And completely tireless. Never stops moving and sprinting around
