Never gets appreciated despite 2 pages or so of praise for his display today? Sigh, some are obsessed with this kind of shite talk in threads about Fellaini, Lingard etc. Grow up.

Players getting praised after scoring a great goal isn't something unheard of or is it? Read the other pages where people were constantly calling for him to be sold, not after when he scored a goal or two. And then come back. It won't take long for this to wear off and the same fans to start clamoring again, 'sell him, he isn't United quality'.

By the way, don't put Fellaini and Lingard in the same bracket.

Never understood the hate for him, nor the calls for him to be sold. Brings much needed pace and good link up play, and chips in with important goals and assists.

Rubbish. Player performance threads are about commenting on what has just occurred. Why did you feel the need to come in here with your waffle about him never being appreciated when he has just received praise from pretty much everyone who has commented?

Yeah, when he has poor performance, it's fair game to comment on it just as it's fair to praise him when he plays well. It would be pretty biased if people on here only commented when players played well eh..

Who compared Fellaini and Lingard as players? I commented that their threads often take a similar trajectory.. Which, y'know, they do..

To be honest with you guys I think we have to give credit where it is due. Just because he is one of our own and due to the fact we have talented players who can play in the same position we 'play down' the value of our 'own'

:(

As long as he brings to the team exactly what Mourinhio is asking him to do, better than the other players he will keep his place in the team.

We don't need to worry, the quality is here, which is the most important thing, we can make changes when they are needed to be made

:)

A little fortunate, his turn of pace was nice, great balance and fantastic composure. It pleasures me that we will be watching Pogba playing along side him, they already know each others game, the runs to make, I believe we could be into a new era

:D

Come on Utd, aOouuuuu

Oh and welcome home Pogba!!

Do I have to answer to you what I do and don't on here? Get off your high horse!

There is a reason I did what I did and I already explained that. If you don't like, just ignore.

I love how he splits opinions and keep getting picked despite the signings made and other players who fans thought were better.

Looking sharp yet again, seems to have an extra burst of pace off the mark and his roll over to go past the first tackle before dodging Morgan was class. I think he definitely does his best work when he can drift centrally.

Pleased to see him get another brilliant goal at Wembley, he gets a fair bit of flack on here and most of it is unwarranted.

Surely the doubters are starting to be converted

It is very clear to see when he is on the pitch versus when he isn't. When he is we look a bit more lively and pass the ball around a bit better IMO. Admittedly, he still has a lot to improve on but I like that the reason he is in the team is not so he can fill the home grown quota, more so because of merit.

Wouldn't be shocked if he plays as a ten for us, I was genuinely impressed with his link up play in the first half when he came infield.

I only worry that this stupid injury might set him back once again, especially if it's serious. If he is going to be even useful squad player at OT, he needs game time now desperately to progress, his skill and decision making does improve when he is playing regularly.

Squad player at best for me. Loves a goal at Wembley though

Should be the first name on the teamsheet for every England home game

I don't rate him as a starter but he's a local lad, seems to have a knack for scoring on big occasions and works hard for the team. He can have a decent career here a la Wes Brown or John O'Shea.

In terms of quality he's probably a Jesper Blomqvist or Jordi Cruyff

Lingard looks as though he could end up being Mou's Willian at Man Utd. He is not just a willing runner, he is an intelligent runner. His positioning is very good. He pops up between the lines going forward, and tracks back to cover Valencia when he commits. He does everything Jose likes a winger to do and he's no slow coach. Can see Lingard being a big part of Jose's plans.

No one forced you to put your head there to find out what is coming out of where!

Grow up! It's a forum after all.

Exactly so try reading it instead of wading into this thread acting like Lingard is some sort of victim that gets nothing but abuse. You came in here saying he never gets credit despite two pages of praise. Why not just come in and praise him instead of trying to stir up shit? You're the only one that needs to grow up.

Did not expect much of him besides being a useful squad rotation but it seems that being in the first team has brought out the best in him. His attitude also helps so he's a great player to have around.

Genuinely thought he was/is a nothing player. But there's some quality there when the ball is moving. Much better when involved in quick tempo team play. Very good goal.

Has the potential to be as good as Aubameyang. Pretty similar strengths and weaknesses
Don't really see the comparison? Aubameyang is insanely fast and quite a bit taller. Lingard is very slight and short.

Agreed.
But wait until the next game he has a poor one, there will be a lot of "told you hes not good enough" or "get rid" etc.
Im glad we have him in our squad.

He pops up with goals but he doesn't do enough for me over the course of a game to be a starter for Manchester United. Squad player.

He looked sharp today and all-in-all it was probably a 7/10 performance. His goal was very impressive and he showed good composure once he got into the box when some players would have snatched at it. I'm happy to have him as a squad player and I'm hoping Mourinho will work with him and improve him. It's going to be a long season with the EL, so he'll get plenty of chances.

For me he's a limited footballer in many ways but he can carve out a niche for himself here, especially under Mourinho. His movement is generally good and he finds himself in good positions quite a-bit. The problem was his end product was often frustrating last season and he missed a few very good chances having found himself space in the box.

I don't get why people get so offended if anyone dare criticise him, though. The amount of childish rubbish in here like "take that haters" after his goal, was quite frankly, pathetic. Especially given that plenty that had criticised him last season had just posted positive comments in this thread. Let's call it what it is, he was good at times last season but he had his fair share of rubbish games too. A-lot of the criticisms were warranted as he was absolutely anonymous in far too many games. Let's also remember that our play was so shit last season that the majority of our players were slated on here. It's not like poor Lingard was singled out.

I'm hoping he keeps improving as he does need to improve. For now, he's a good squad player to have and I feel that's exactly what he'll be once Mkhitaryan settles in. Being a squad player is an important role.

Both are very fast, agile with and without the ball, intelligent runners, good at shooting, but not too clinical in finishing.
Both are bad at heading, both are not the best in technique, they don't have the best vision or passing skills. Both are not the strongest either

His career path in our first team is mirroring Darren Fletchers. I remember a lot of fans - me included - being unconvinced by Fletcher but Fergie kept faith and continued to select him and he became one of our best big match players in recent history (his CL semi final performance at Arsenal remains in my opinion one of the best individual performances I've ever seen from a United player).

Lingard is a bit the same. He's been inconsistent but has really come to the party in some big games (Chelsea and the Cup final). Today wasn't the biggest game in priority terms but the stage was and he delivered again.

A big season for him but I definitely wouldn't want him to move now. Could very well become a Fletcher or Park - not the most naturally gifted but one who doesn't hide.

Honestly I'm not sure why we hate our own players so much. If theses goals came from Depay we'd have said he's potentially warranted the large fee yet a lad from Warrington from our own academy is seen so negatively. What you want from a young lad is progress year on year which he's shown, if the other lads of his gen showed the same potential, they'd equally would be starting and scoring in cup finals....
