I have a personal grudge against players who celebrate by dancing, but he's proving to be a very useful squad player.

Lingard's positional play and intelligence is top class. Reads the game very well. Could be an excellent season for him and I think Mourinho loves his attitude and ability to learn. Quality goal too.

Agree.

He's never a right winger though. We'll have to find a different role for him to make the most of the abilities you've pointed out.

You're right. I'm not quite sure what the name is for this one. Cowboy lasso into some sort of slam?

It's called 'hit dem folks' look at some videos of Pogba, Chris Brown or O'dell Beckham Jr doing it.
Lingard's was a little weak, if I'm being too critical

Yeah agree. Think he is much better centrally but not sure how he can find a starting spot there.

Good goal. He brings so much to the team. All he needs to do is change his name and nationality so some fans will think more highly of him

Well put.

By no means do I think he is a star. But I don't underrate him for a minute and I believe his belief, willingness, and love for Manchester are things this team needs.

Just keeps looking better and better.
Never expected him to be more than passable cover but I can see him keeping a few bigger names out of the team this season.

The dance is called hit' dem folks, Jesse needs to watch more Meechie videos though.

Today saw Jesse Lingard score a great goal in a big game again so just wanted to see what everyone's opinions on him are ? How good actually is he in your opinion ?

To me he's a proper first team squad player and his even though Jose said he likes specialists I think Lingard's ability to play across the line in the three behind the main striker or either side in a front trio is a genuine plus.

He's showed in our last two competitive games he can score when needed and you can go as far back as the Chelsea game last season to see further proof that he can chip in with important goals.

Obviously he's behind Rooney, Martial and Mhkitarayan as the first choice three behind either Zlatan or Rashford but I think he's as important as Mata is in the squad even if he's probably seen as a much lesser player.

I can see Lingard chipping in with 10 goals or more this coming season and he's also very important to Rashford's development with the two being very close, I'm sure I saw or read somewhere that Lingard is seen as an older figure of the local lads amongst the academy players that came through last season.

Will still get dog's abuse from the fickle bunch on here.

Never gets appreciated despite being a good little squad player who unlike others always puts in a shift, cost us a big fat zero in terms of transfer money and United through and through.

Absolutely delighted for him. I love this guy.

He' got alot more to offer this side than Van Gaals. Could become a key player for us.

That's a big negative in some people's minds.

Never gets appreciated despite 2 pages or so of praise for his display today? Sigh, some are obsessed with this kind of shite talk in threads about Fellaini, Lingard etc. Grow up.

I think he will end up being a solid squad player/impact sub for us, filling in across the line behind the striker (as you said). That is unless Mhki becomes the #10 instead of the RW, then he could end up a starter out wide. He's definitely proven that he deserves to be in the matchday squad ahead of Memphis. Plus, he's from the Academy, so it makes it even better.

The only way he'll be an important player for us is if Mkhitaryan doesn't settle or Martial struggles with second season syndrome. For that reason alone I hope he doesn't. He can be a very useful player for us like Park though, and that's great to have.

We could play Martial, Mkhitaryan and Lingard as a three behind Ibrahimovic or Rashford.

Or are you expecting Rooney to be as undroppable for Mourinho as he was for Van Gaal?

Have great faith in Jesse. He was an inch away last season from a very good debut season. Great finish for his goal. He had a bit of luck in that the save didn't push it wide - and so maybe he'll get a bit more luck this season.

Squad player but an important one. A bit like Blind really.

The kid knows nothing but score important goals. United may not have any attacking cohesion, but they're blessed with several individuals that can come up with a moment of magic to decide a game - over the past few games, that includes Lingard. I'm genuinely baffled at people who think that him picking up a knock is a good thing, as far as I'm concerned, he has deserved his spot in JoMo's United, be it in the starting XI or as an impact sub.

Reminds me of Ashley Young, a very good squad player to have and right now i would say hes a starter on that right side.

TBH you need players like him in a team, his runs alone open up space for people around him which is very useful

I'm expecting Rooney to be undroppable but even if he wasn't, I think Rashford and Mata are better players so if we were to move things around I'd look to them as soon as I would to Lingard.

our best attacking player in the game without a doubt. I am putting him in my FPL team. What a bargain... The thing with lingard is that he always puts in a shift and I think he's consistently getting better, slowly but he is..
