Brain-dead performance from Lingard. How difficult is it to realise we needed width in that situation ?

Miss was one of those things, not really sure you can blame him for that. With how Martial and Rashford are playing he surely won't be starting vs Liverpool
Not sure how you can blame him for missing an open goal? Lol

Not just because of how wel they are playing, also how badly he played today

He wasn't expecting it to come back, he stuck out a leg instinctively and fecked it up. He was average during his time on the pitch but those things happen.

The irony of Jesse Lingard. One match he can dribble off three players and score a screamer, and the next match he looks like a U18 player who ended up in the starting XI by mistake

His fullback wasn't even a full back but Jesse didn't even try to take him on once I don't think. Rashford showed how uncomfortable he was with players running at him.

That said, I don't rate Jesse in tight games like that. He needs more space to be effective.

He's a dencent player but when he's not playing well, he's dog's turd awful.

He was alright. In tough away games I'd rather see Mata or Martial.

A typical Jesse performance if you ask me. He's either on form and everyone thinks this is the match where he finally kicks on and he's going to be a good player for us, or he has a match where he misses a sitter, misplaces passes and looks like he's concentrating on his next goal celebration than the task on hand.

I simply think this is what we're going to get from him. The guy won us the FA cup and is not a bad player to have in the squad, but that's about it I think as I don't think he'll be the next Robben or Ribery...but I wouldn't get rid of him just yet.

You're a waste of space who follows my posts around all the time  fecking loser

I think I've only ever had one interaction with you  I only know who you are because after I had a previous debate with you I got a few PM's telling me to avoid you at all costs. No idea who you are apart from that.

Still only 19 so plenty of room to develop but at the moment it's difficult to see how he's starting ahead of Mata/Rashford or Martial.

Rashford sub changed the game, another bloody awful game from Lingard.

Maybe a loan in January would allow Jose to asses if he's worth keeping, especially with the current contract dispute (Jesse wanting £120k+ and the club 'only' prepared to double his wages to £60k/week).

120k+? Sheer madness that. How on earth does he expect to get that? - Because he scored the gamewinner in the FA cup final? :wenger:

Re todays game; utterly pedestrian performance, but he probably needed some game time, so getting 60 albeit lacklustre minutes on the pitch could have done him some good I was just happy see Rashford capitalizing when he finally got the chance.

I'm a big fan of his, but his performance was disappointing overall. Don't think the miss was as easy as it's being made out, Valencia missing was more shocking.

I still don't get the extreme reaction though, either we love our players or they're shite and need to be sold.
Lingard wasn't on his game today, other players will have or have had similar performances this season, that's why you had a squad and continuous competition. That way everyone continues to improve.

Here me out first. Thought his movement was good and he really worked well with our front three. All in all, could've been better but not as bad as some people say here.
His movement was the biggest problem haha he kept moving away from the flank and needed a 19 striker to show him how he should of done his job!

He has more games like this than others tho unfortunately, that's the problem

He was 19 5 years ago mate, in that five years it's difficult to see what has actually improved

Yep, today he was actually quite poor (rather than anywhere between great and average, which is what normally earns him criticism). That said, they all struggled with the situation, not only a determined bus-parking but a passionate one because of the injustice of the decision. It's not even surprising any more, either - red cards rarely seem to do either team any favours these days.

He had a bad game, yes. Just like pretty much all the players had a crappy 45mins. Valencia missed as big a chance btw. Love it how United fans can't wait to post here when he has a bad game.

He needs to improve his consistency for sure, but it's still his second full season in the PL? It's not like he's been in our squad for 5 years and he's just making up numbers.
I personally think he does best when coming off the bench. Martial, Mata, Rashford & Mhiki have all improved and provided more competition in recent weeks, now it's Lingard's turn to improve in the upcoming cup matches. It's a good situation to be in, hence why I don't understand the extreme reactions.
