Probably, but at least with Mateta his best football has been in a similar system and if you splurge on Amorim players and he fails, Glasner could be a decent option to take over? We'd probably get the Mateta that played his first four seasons in the PL rather than the last two.
Two years on his contract and his former club have a big sell on clause so Palace will demand way more than we will be willing to pay.
Transfermarkt says contract is up 2026?
Crystal Palace have triggered the option in Jean-Philippe Mateta's contract to extend his stay at the club until 2027.

I mean Liverpool also signed Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum from sides who were lower down in the league. (Although we wouldn't be doing that with Mateta, funnily enough)We're in our Liverpool Rickie Lambert era.
Im only kidding anyway mate. The doom and gloom around everything we do lends more to Lambert/Konchesky era rather than Mane/Robertson era.I mean Liverpool also signed Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum from sides who were lower down in the league. I'm not saying Mateta would be out equivalent to any of those but this attitude of dismissing players out of hand because "oh, how embarrassing - we're signing players from Palace now" is ridiculous. The guy scored 16 goals in the Premier League last season and looks on pace to get around that many again; I really don't get why so many are convinced he's a clogger.
Nothing like a striker about to enter his decline phase who's never scored 20 goals in his life to get you excited for United's future....Turns 28 in the summer and whilst we need a recognised striker, doesn’t seem like the age profile Ineos are interested in.
You're not wrong there. I get the feeling that had we gone for Mane the season before Liverpool got him (we were quite strongly rumoured to be interested), he wouldn't have made nearly the same impact.Im only kidding anyway mate. The doom and gloom around everything we do lends more to Lambert/Konchesky era rather than Mane/Robertson era.
Didn't Liverpool finish in top half with Ricky Lambert? We have way surpassed well and beyond that eraWe're in our Liverpool Rickie Lambert era.
How many years to go until the Klopp era? Fingers crossed! We're in our Liverpool Rickie Lambert era.
Not long. We're dragging it out though. We'll lose in Europa League final this year. 8th next year. Then we win it all over the next 4 years. How many years to go until the Klopp era? Fingers crossed!
Bubz....don't get my hopes upNot long. We're dragging it out though. We'll lose in Europa League final this year. 8th next year. Then we win it all over the next 4 years.

yeah think it was 26+ years or thereabouts! Hopefully ours don't last anywhere near that longHow long were those lot without a league championship ? 30 years?
20 more to go then sigh.
They’ve got an option of an additional year so in effect he has 2 years left. He won’t be anywhere near 25m. You can double that at leastIf we can get him for around 25m or less, I think its a decent signing for 3 years. I believe his contract is expiring next summer so CP may be looking to sell.
Takes the pressure off our young strikers. Hopefully, by then, Chido or someone else would be ready to take-over.
