Be nice if he starts against Bayern.
Would be a potential indicator that DM is starting to understand how to be a winner.

Kagaway, Chico, Januzaj...three players who should have played a lot more than they have. Combined with Mata today, they've made the team look like Manchester United.
Can't link up outside the box, can't control the ball, Inzaghi mk2 yada yada
I couldn't think for a worse game to start him. We will have around 20% of the ball in that game and our striker will either be completely isolated or will be in our half of the pitch helping the defense. Chicha doesn't do well in either of those scenarios.Be nice if he starts against Bayern.

Was he happier after his goal today? Would love him to stay but can't see it happening.
I think at least one of our strikers will be off in the summer, seeing as how it won't be Rooney its a toss up between Chicharito or RVP. I hope neither leave but if one of them do I just hope it will be the one where we can get a greater revenue from.
The team played well today and I think some of that is down to Hernandez.
You can't look at players in isolation - Hernandez stretches the opposition defence, plays on the shoulder of the last man and generally forces them to drop deep. In doing this he opens up space for the players behind him.
Previously we have had Rooney behind him, who isn't a particularly technical #10. With the likes of Mata and Kagawa playing however, Hernandez creating space for them leads to far better attacking play all round.
They can then return the favour by supplying Hernandez with balls and chances that he thrives on.
Simples.
The bizarre thing is these rumours linking us with Cavani. As far as I can tell we've got more than enough number 9s. Buying Cavani would make zero sense even if one of our existing strikers left.
It's very obvious that he's unhappy. Why is he meanmugging these days when he scores? He used to celebrate like a fat kid in a candyshop.

I agree. It makes little sense for us to go after Cavani when he's too similar of a profile compared to one or two of our current strikers.
People talk about selling either RVP or Chicharito, but what about Welbeck? I'm just throwing his name because it has been an ongoing debate of which we just can't find an answer saying where he would fit unlike our other strikers. I think Chicharito fits the bill in spearheading a side that plays quick passing football in midfield while Rooney and RVP can perform as more traditional number 9s.
Decent game but he should have scored the one-on-one.
Agreed. I think the Kagawa-Mata axis looked really good not only because of their quality but because of Hernandez constantly stretching the defence. Dare I say Hernandez suits the Mata-Kagawa partnership more than Rooney would.
What's his role in the team when we need goals? At Chelsea his cameo included playing long passes from the midfield, last night he also had a stint at left back. Don't we actually have a real plan when chasing games?
Is there even a remote chance he won't be sold next season unless we somehow get a different manager? Moyes has shown absolutely no confidence in him. Yesterday's game was a great opportunity to put faith in him with Rooney's injury and on the back of his performance over the weekend. The contrast between the amount of faith Sit Alex often put in him right from his debut season to his position in the squad today is honestly terrible for Chico.
I think the only chance he stays is if we sold RVP and could convince Hernandez that he would then get more playing time.
If we are to play Mata as a 10 behind Rooney, then it would make far more sense financially to have Hernandez on the bench rather than RVP (RVP's wages are about 9m more per season, plus Hernandez is 5 years younger too)
I'm not sure if Moyes has the bollocks though. Selling Hernandez is the easier option.
You're talking about the manager who admitted he couldn't take an injured RVP off against Newcastle cos he was worried about what the press would say. The manager who persisted with a poorly performing Rooney who he claimed was having trouble with striking the ball.

Mata as a number 10? Really, under Moyes? As soon as RVP is fit he'll be back in the first XI alongside Rooney and Mata will be on the wings. The likes of Hernandez, Kagawa, and even Januzaj have bleak futures under Moyes. He's not big enough to drop the big players. The others in the squad have next to no chance of getting regular games.
So we only need 2 strikers now do we?
Could be in even more of a mess next season then...we've already had our 2 main strikers injured together.
We've had 2 strikers down at the same time before, just as we've had 4 defenders down at the same time. Any team who wants to be fighting for the top honours has to plan for these eventualities and provide as much cover as they possibly can for injuries. The assumption is that Welbeck will be the third striker/additional winger/general utility man depending on tactical purposes. You can't really go into a season assuming your two strikers go down, any team in the world would be in trouble and Welbeck is a very good option in that scenario.

Sorry, the 2 should read 3 but I haven't got the edit post thing visible. You asked if we should only have 2 strikers, he said we should have 3.
Am I missing something?

Yes, that's what I'm referring to.
I'm confused by your post.
We need to modernise this four striker way of thinking. Other than PSG, who have Ibrahimovic and Cavani, no other team in Europe has two strikers as good as Rooney and Van Persie. Madrid has both Benzema and Higuain, who are nowhere near as good, and even they couldn't give both players the game time their talents deserved.
Bayern has two real strikers in Mandzukic and Pizarro. They will get Lewandowski and the former may even leave due to that. Madrid has Benzema and Morata. City have three good strikers. Chelsea have three quite poor ones. The need for a surplus of strikers is no longer required as teams look to score goals across the whole side. It's unfair of us to expect Hernandez to carry on like he is. Furthermore, it's actually unfair to criticise Moyes for not really playing him. We are overstocked in this department and changes must be made.
I would sell Van Persie for reasons I've outlined before, so if Hernandez was happy to remain as our third striker then fantastic. However, the reality is that if we improved in midfield and out wide, and got in some attacking forward players in the mould of a Marco Reus, I think we could go a season with only Rooney and Welbeck as strikers, and perhaps a promotion for the likes of Wilson and Henriquez. Our problems lie in the creating of chances, not putting them away.
Higuain plays for Napoli so did you mean to say Real had them instead of has?
