Unfortunately i've got to criticise his touch again. It's infuriating how often it let's him down and ends moves for us. In goalscoring situations it's usually sharp but his general play still needs work.

His touch and his balance (a bit like Park) are problems for him.He slips too many times

I refuse to criticise his touch when everybody knows that it's a huge weakness for him. What I would criticise is why he was chosen to play against a team like Bilbao whereby he will be shown up massively. Personally I think Welbeck and even Berbatov are much more suited to a game against a team like Bilbao.

So are weaknesses off limits for criticizing? Especially when it's a skill that's vital to a player in his position.

He looks to have lost a lot of confidence really. He was able to make space for himself fairly easily at times during the game only to double back on himself and although his shot led to Rooney's first goal it lacked any power or conviction, he just swung a leg at it. I'm one of his biggest fans but looking at him tonight he looked just not to be 'there'.

All the usual stuff aside I can't understand why he was taking so long to shoot. He had some great chances on his right foot which were begging to be belted and he worked it on to his left again and again for no reason. I still think his best role is as an impact player and whilst I think welbeck is the future he's still a bit raw. If fergie doesn't trust berba anymore then I think we need to look into getting in a more refined striker, whilst welbeck is deceloping. It's not a priority but if we can find someone we should. Personally I hope fergie is tapping rvp up big time.

But we all knew this, why would Fergie play him when he must know it too? Well, it's obvious that he is there to poach goals, his ability at doing that outweighs his poor ability on the ball, hence he is chosen.

What is the plan, we criticise Hernandez' touch in every game that he doesn't score a tap-in in, but we forget it when he scores? It's just boring to hear the same obvious criticisms after a loss, when it's totally obvious yet ignored if he scores.

I agree Chief, I thought he had some good moments in the game and did pretty well for a player who's played in fits and starts this season.

He actually looked decent at times - but the one thing that disappointed me was...he had 2/3 opportunities in the match, where a shot was on, but he didn't pull the trigger. He overcomplicated things, and ended up being bundled off the ball or the opportunity lost.

He's a finisher, give him the ball and he'll score you goals. Dont expect the new Roberto Baggio out of him. He's not the kind.

Our fans always have to find someone to pick on; Hernandez is the latest.

Gibbo is gone. De Gea is finding his feet. Victims are sought.

I fecking hate the vast majority of our fanbase, the vast majority of their opinions are formed from behind streams or tv.

:nono:

24 goals in 31 matches Wayne Rooney is THAT guy.

Needs to sort his touch out, had an ok game yesterday, but like before his first touch denies him so many goal scoring chances. I think he wastes 2/3 chances a game due to it.

At least he's not getting flagged offside 600 times a game recently.

He is off form and yesterday, Berbatov would have been the better choice. He's not been playing well recently as his allround game suffers. If Hernandez doesnt get fed with balls all the time, he's lost up there.

His play with his back to goal has improved drastically. Was quite pleased with him, even if his performance wasn't perfect.

Played well last night. Could've scored and he not tried to come inside on his left on one occasion. Still his passing and build up play was much better and he did look dangerous.

He was incredibly wasteful in the box. He didn't play well although I accept that his build up play was better. That's coming from an extremely low base though given that his performance against Norwich was embarrassingly poor.

No doubt that Welbeck is first choice to partner Rooney at the moment.

I though the played well until the time came to shoot/pass in the box. He seemed to try too hard to make the perfect space to shoot and got closed down and lost the ball. I think it's probably a confidence thing, when he's on form with a run of games, he's the best finisher we have. I think he'll get a decent pre-season and he'll be back to his best next year. He needs a rest, so I hope Mexico don't pick him for the Olympics, he's not had a summer off for ages.

Is anyone else get the impression that he's trying TOO hard at times?? It's as if he feels like he has to do something brilliant everytime he gets the ball otherwise something terrible will happen.

His link up play needs to improve, drastically. We can't afford to have him in the team as just a goalscorer, his all round contribution needs to be better.

He's having a difficult season, but I think that's undertandable.

I have faith in him, he's still a bit of a rough diamond, but when the edges have been polished he'll be top notch.

His all-round play is coming along, some great crosses and link-up play today.

He made a huge contribution to our attacking play today without scoring a goal. Not often you can say that about him.

Very good contribution and opened the game up. Funnily enough, Rooney's goal was a typical Chicharito one.

Now his all round game is improving his finishing has gone to pot :wenger:. Great to see that he is obviously working very hard to improve his weaknesses.

Has assisted three of our last four goals now. Isn't his best, but it's obvious that his overall play is improving.

Crazy that'd gone totally over my head. Certainly more to the man than goals but still he was a much more dangerous player after he hit the post than before. He's a striker and striker's thrive off of sight of goal. He played well today but if he'd have scored he'd have hit a higher note. Guaranteed.

Thought he was brilliant today, his link up play was great and the shot that led to Rooney's goal was a great effort, as well as the one that hit the post.

Was the cross for Young's header his? Because that was a cracking ball.

Peach of a cross to Young when it should be the other way round (and reckon Chicha himself would have converted that). Great to see him improving his all round game
