Possibly but he does not offer the link play and other play those two bring.

The same sort of play that has seen them and us as a team struggle to break defences down away from Old Trafford? Seriously, the time is coming where SAF is going to have to make the call over this kid and just let him play and do what he does best...score goals and win games for us, simple as that.

If we signed some one like Xavi or anyone with a Scholes like ability to pick a pass Hernandez would be an even bigger goal threat.

Reminds me of a young David Villa but not as strong. Hopefully his career goes the same way.

And we always seem to look more likely to score goals when he's on the pitch, not just from Hernandez himself but the aura of fear that defenders succumb to when they have to deal with his pace and movement in behind their backline.

That's exactly it. In a football world where pace means so much, our team isn't the most dynamic around. I don't know if Berbatov's and Rooney's movement upfront doesn't match that of Hernandez in terms of yards, but it surely doesn't match him in terms of clever runs, not to mention pace. Giggs and Scholes are two geniuses, and Giggsy can still do brilliant things with his quick feet, but it's now brains that play a big part in their football and Scholes is far more static than he used to be.

That's why Nani (and Valencia) are so vital. And Evra and Rafael. That's why when Anderson has a good game, we tend to look a different team. Because those lads - and Hernandez - make us a lot more dymanic, pacey, add better movement, making it far more difficult to the opposition who keep losing our lads when they try to mark them. That's why a midfield consisting only of the likes of Carrick, Fletcher, Scholes and Gibson, lacks something.

That's why, while I enjoy it when Berbatov and Rooney both play well and their football together can be lovely at times, I doubt I'll ever truly believe in their partnership. Great when they are having good days, poor when they don't, while some basics in Hernandez - the pace, the movement - will have an affect even on a crap day.

Valencia were the main ones to be mentioned as rivals when we signed him. And then again with some rumours that they wanted to take him on loan. What a replacement for Villa that would have been

I thought he made a huge difference with this pace, a quick pass over the top would be the undoing of wigan and so it proved. All our strikers need to have the ball played into them. I think he reads the game well and plays to his strengths.

I really believe in two years he could be the best striker in the league, and one of the best in Europe. He has everything to be the best in my opinion.

Also the amount of flick ons and headers he wins for someone his size is ridiculous, he's got an Evra like leap on him.

Was talking about this with a lad at work today, how he manages to out-leap players a lot taller than him. I've decided he has spring loaded knees. It's the only realistic explanation.

Keeping Owen on the books can only help his growth. You see a lot of similarities between the two at around the same age.. Great runs coupled with fine scoring positions.. Anyone who wants Owen gone is crazy!

The nicest 'celebrity' I've ever served was a young footballer. Strange to associate footballers with manners, I know.

He walked towards me, and as somebody who's son is a fan of the team he plays for I knew who he was as soon as he spoke to me.

At a hundred miles an hour and clearly flustered he said "I was wondering please if you could help me Miss. Do you sell - I'm sorry, I cannot pronounce it in English. Tagleeeteeelea. I'm sorry. That doesn't sound right. I can write it for you.....oh but my spelling not so good either. Is OK. Thank you anyway."

I quickly reassured him I knew what he wanted and I'd show him where it was.

The whole walk around to the pasta aisle he apologised for not being able to find it himself, for 'troubling' me and even for his pronunciation.

When we got there it was like I'd taken him to a case of buried treasure. his face lit up and he said 'Oh this is it. Yes! Thank you so very much Miss.'

Then he pulled out a 5 pound note and said 'for you'

I laughed and asked him what it was for and he said 'A tip. Because you help me so much.' When i explained that we can't accept tips and it's not generally customary to even be offered them, he blushed and said he was confused with tipping because it's very different where he's from - but to know that he was very grateful.

I finally told him I knew who he was and that my son was a fan. He was very pleased, and we talked for a few moments about his team and then we said our goodbyes.

I told my son when I got home and his face lit up, although he was annoyed at me for not getting an autograph! I didn't even think to ask!

The next day though, I was called by name to the customer service desk - and who stood there but my mystery footballer. He must have read the name on my badge. It turned out that he'd brought my son a signed shirt and even brought an unsigned photo with him so that he could dedicate it personally to my son once he'd asked me for his name.

Truly nice person.

His name? Most of you probably won't have heard of him. Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez.
Bless. Seems like a lovely bloke.

I bet whoever helped him find the tagliatelle has got huge knockers.

Next time I ask someone at my local grocery store for help, I'm going to show up the day after with one of my shirts, signed with my name, and say "here, this is for your son!" and then run away.

The global support for him is scary at times. In a YouTube video of the Blackpool match, the highest rated comment is:
berba second goal was nice but he could have pass it to chicharito

In another video of the United team in Manchester Airport and Berbatov stopping for a photo, the two highest rated comments are:
I agree I so would of taken a picture with Chicharito Instead

damn i wopuld've taken a picture with chicharito

 Poor Berbs.

Anything I tweet about Hernández as well gets about 5 times the amount of retweets as any other United player's stats.

Have I mentioned already that I love him?

And to think I was mocked by some when I got his name and number on the back of my shirt at the start of the season. All I got was 'Javier who' and 'another flop for United'.

He can be the difference this season, quite clearly he's showing that.

He's too fecking good to be true. He must murder kittens when nobody is looking or something.

Jesus the boy is also a saint.

Javier Hernandez is prepared to be patient in his pursuit of a regular starting berth at Manchester United.

The Mexican has settled quickly in English football, having only completed a switch to Old Trafford last summer.

At 22 years of age it was expected that he would take longer to find his feet, but he is now considered to be an integral member of the first team.

His route to the United side is currently blocked by Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov, but he continues to give Sir Alex Ferguson plenty of timely reminders as to what he has to offer.

A two-goal haul in Saturday's 4-0 victory over Wigan helped to underline his value to the side, but Hernandez insists he is in no rush to become a mainstay in the starting XI.

He told The Sun: "I have no problems being on the bench. I understand that football is a team sport, not like golf or tennis.

"So you have to help your team when you play from the beginning but also when you come on from the bench.

"We are like pieces of a jigsaw and the boss decides how to use us.

"If Ferguson picks me for the starting line-up, that would be great but if not, that's fine too."

Who taurt Owen? Never really believe in that crap to be fare...

Its like when the whole of England went crazy because Beckham was joining Madrid and getting the train with Zidane and Figo like all of a sudden he would be doing step-overs.

Interesting that Sir Alex said today there's a good chemistry between the front two, they made it easy for him, and yet earlier in the season he was saying that Rooney and Hernandez couldn't play together because their play was too similar.

Suggests that Rooney's current more creative role wasn't planned maybe?

That or he didnt realise how good Hernandez was and so he was pigeon holing him like he did Michael Owen

Well I guess SAF was banking on Rooney continuing last season's form. When it didn't materialise, he found a more suitable alternative.
