Scoring goals for fun
Hear his name being sung
Viva Chicharito

The guy is a goalscoring genius. His touch isn't great, he's not a great passer or dribbler, but give him the ball in front of goal and he's clinical. He's a world class finisher.

So john and Scholesy, do you yet think he's not good enough? Even if his dribbling ability is not the best when you got predatory instinct like he does, who cares? I'm sure no one complained about Ruud banging in goal after goal.

One chance today, one goal.

His touch is very good, but he's still a bit raw and erratic at times. He'll shown one outstanding piece of control and then let himself down with another. This consistancy will improve

His touch is very good, and he hardly ever gives the ball away or misplaces his passes. He doesn't do long passing, but technically he's quite outstanding.

You people always seem to think that a predatory finishing instinct and ball control are mutually exclusive.

If he keeps working hard and develops other aspects of his game he could easily become a top scorer in the next few years. Easily the best player we have brought in the last 2-3 years.

That'll be Jim Lawlor... He had help from a friend of his who played for Mexico

My point is he's nothing special outside of the area, but his finishing is so quick and accurate that it makes him deadly. Quite often, particularly with his back to goal, the ball will bounce up off of him. He hasnt got a trick to beat a man either. What he does have is pace, quick feet and a deadly eye for a finish.

I dont think that a predatory finishing instinct and incredible ball control are always bed fellows as you appear do either.

Match made in heaven this.

Loves United, and if he can keep growing and we can keep afloat after Sir Alex leaves we'll be seeing a long illustrous career, methinks :)

Have you seen how Rooney controls it?!!!!

And what does that sentence about bed fellows mean? Look at his attributes objectively and you'll find that he's got a delightful way with the ball at his feet. Short passing is excellent, would fit right into the Barca team.

And a good touch, that's proven by now, to me... Gets the ball sorted for himself quickly to get a good finish off. I hope you do realise that saying he has a poor touch is demonstrably wrong ;)

Otherwise I'll agree that we haven't seen him dribble much or do anything exceptional, dribbling-wise but I'd say that United as a club seem to tell players to keep it simple at first, get to grips with the Premier League and your role in the team... And then start adding strings to your bow. Some players are an exception to this, obviously... I wouldn't have to tell you who the stand-out example of this has been in the past decade.

He has a good touch and quick finish when the ball is coming from behind him or to the side but with his back to goal he doesnt bring it down as well as our more natural footballers. He is, however, a better finisher than them all. Stop acting like Im shagging your wife because I offered a +/- critique of his game. Im delighted with him. Just offering an opinion of his overall strengths and weaknesses.

He's not a natural footballer because in your opinion he doesn't bring the ball down well enough with his back to a defender.

Jesus christ you're a spack.

He does everything so quickly, theres no messing around dallying on the ball. Everything is 1-2 touches and I agree with the others that have said it, he's be sensational at Barcelona in particular.

Saying that he's not doing too bad for us either so I'd like to keep hold of him :D.

I'd err on the side of caution when reading into people's tone on forums if I were you. I wasn't telling you you were an idiot, I was just saying that the touch remark is one that you'll find virtually no support for on here, and I can be proved wrong on this if anybody here'll want to second that claim (Scholesy doesn't count ;P eee! Couldn't resist... last one...)

So ya. Whatevs, chillax, smoke an ampersand, bruv.

I'd agree with that. Happy as can be for the fella scoring another, and fantastic that it was the winner. However, having a poacher like that incurrs a cost. He really contributed nothing much in the first half, and with Owen and Obertan hanging around up front as well, it's like we were 3 men down, which surely contributed to why Anderson and Gibson had such problem completing a pass. Seemed to me that once Owen dropped deeper and pitching in, Chicharito finally started getting a touch here and there. Honestly in the first half, he barely touched the ball. Unless he collects the ball in a dangerous spot, he's usually not up to much more than laying it off.

None of this takes the shine off his phenomenal scoring touch. Superb. He's a great asset, but really needs to be paired up with a more consistently creative front man.

He was very good. Lately, his touch looks much improved.

I don't like that he feels the need to berate his team-mates whenever he does not receive a pass, though. It's needless and not helpful.

This kid is class, and at his age the amount of important goals he's scored this season its remarkable to think how much better he can get.

He's already attained an impressive level of consistency. It seems like he's highly likely to score whether he starts or comes on from the bench. So I trust Sir Alex to use him as often as he sees fit because he's ready for any challenge now. It's up to Rooney to start finding the net, in addition to being a creative force, because more starts will come his way at this rate. If we need goals, we know we can turn to him to deliver.

He definitely looks more than just an option.

It's just a shame his dribbling is mediocre.

He's 22......he's not the finished article. We couldn't ask for more at this stage in his development. This is his first season at the club. We'll work and develop him behind the scenes and we can trust he'll try his best because that's the kind of lad he seems to be.

Dobba's comment was made tongue in cheek btw, if you haven't realized it yet.

He has scored in pretty much every competition that United have played in this year.

His touch seems to spring to life near the box. A pass occasionally bounces off him about 40 yards out, yet as often as not he'll control it perfectly when he receives it closer to goal. Very impressive given that he's still got a fair bit of strengthening up to do physcically. I've been fairly impressed with his passing too. Hardly Berb-esque in terms of creativity, but he's generally laying it off quickly and accurately when he receives the ball with his back to goal. You can't ask for much more at this stage of his development. Remember how drastically Ole and Andy Cole improved their all-around games after a few years with us, to the extent that Ole became a very good right sided player at one stage? If Hernandez can make those sort of improvements he'll be phenomonal, and even if he doesn't as you say he'll still be a superb goalscorer.
