Got a feeling he'll score today. As the game opens up, it'd suit to have his pace through the middle.

Dunno why I'm so confident, probably the booze.

Are you a wizard?

Love the guy. I want him to start matches. Simple as that. I hope Fergie can find a place for him so he doesn't see too much of his career just on the bench.

I predicted a winner from him too. He should get more starts. Man I love this guy.

What this guy has in abundance and is something that is hard to learn is bottle. He will score really important goals and decide lots of games. Great attitude. Can't wait till he gets stronger and starts improving his on the ball play. Going to be a class player.

Profact: Half of the goals he has scored have been winners.

Theres only one Solskjaer. I don't think Hernandez is going to accept scoring match-winners and then sitting on the bench for the next 5 games. Players want to start matches.

Doesn't mean he doesn't have the same knack, which is a fair observation thus far ;)

During the summer people moaned about us not addressing our deficiencies, but Hernandez is the difference between this and last season's squad. He could well be the difference between winning and losing the title.

I came in here to say exactly this.

Chicha plays down Ole link

Sir Alex likened Javier Hernandez to Reds legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the Mexican’s late winner at West Brom, although the young forward was quick to play down the comparison.

“It’s great to hear and it’s good motivation for me, but I know I need to work a lot to be like him,” Hernandez told MUTV.

The manager's comments are understandable. After all, both Solskjaer and Hernandez arrived at Old Trafford as relative unknowns, both scored on their Reds debuts and both make finding the net look remarkably easy.

Chicharito is even earning a reputation as a super-sub, a tag Solskjaer made his own during his 11 years as a United player. Nobody has scored more goals for the Reds off the bench than Ole (28), although if Hernandez continues his incredible strikerate – Saturday’s header against West Bromwich Albion was his fifth in 12 substitute appearances – he’ll surely challenge that record.

For now, though, the 22-year-old is just happy to play his part as the Reds seek to regain the league title.

“The win [at West Brom] was very important,” he said. “We knew it would be difficult but we’re very happy because we’ve started the year with a victory.

“They did well to score and they had another opportunity with the penalty kick. They missed, which was good for us because we knew we could go on and win the match.

“If they scored we would have been a goal down and that would have been more difficult.”

Instead, Peter Odemwingie scuffed his shot and the ball trickled wide of the goal. Less than 15 minutes later, Hernandez popped up to head United in front and secure the points.

“I remember I was near the goalkeeper, Wazza crossed the ball, I moved towards it and headed it into the goal. It was nice to celebrate in front of our fans.”

Chicharito’s goal capped a memorable festive period for the Mexican, who, despite only playing 38 minutes of the Reds’ last three fixtures, described this Christmas as the best he’s ever had.

“It’s been different for me but I’m very happy,” he said. “This has been the best Christmas – I’m here with all my family and I’m playing with Manchester United.

“Now it’s important to get three points against Stoke at home [on 4 January].”

I thought the club would know better than to call him Chicha...

Hernandez now enters the top 200 goalscorers for the club and needs 15 more to break into the top 100. I'm betting on a top ten finish by the time he joins ######.

His attitude is very refreshing. Has already scored 8 goals this season which is excellent considering the season is only half way.

That's what his family/friends call him. It's not the same as chica if that's what you mean.

Winners
West Brom Away
Valencia Away
Stoke Away
Wolves Home

Other goals
Chelsea Charity Shield to make it 2-0
West Brom Home - opening goal
Stoke Away - opening goal
Wigan Home - second goal of a 2-0 victory

4 winners
2 opening goals
1 goal to take the lead

5 goals as sub
3 from starting

So 7 out of his 8 goals have come at important times in the game. He seems to have the ability of getting important goals.

I'm sorry. I like Hernandez but I do not see too many outstanding traits in him. Today I was delighted he scored the winning goal, but his touch and link-up play let him down on numerous occasions.

I am more excited about Welbeck. He can become a complete modern forward.

Great little finisher, brilliant movement, but he's very raw so we'll need to be careful with him. His alll-round game is still a bit short but he's learning all the time and he'll only get better from what I've seen. The important thing is not to raise expectations to the silly level of a few months ago when people were saying he should be starting ahead of Rooney.
