This, Wayne, is why you trust the managers judgment when he decides not to splash big money on an established star.

His composure is superb. Just a natural forward and he'll get a lot of goals for us in the future. 6 already

He does see to have a good bit of maturity to him as well. In the last minute or so, instead of running with the ball to goal and potentially losing it, he held it up, and passed it out wide, wasting time and keeping possession.

Fergie seemed to want to dampen expectations in his post match interview.

I wonder who he had in mind when he said that the fans build up players very quickly?

Anderson? Perhaps it was just a general comment. He wants his(Chica's) feet firmly planted on planet earth for the time being at least.

I'd guess at Hernandez.

By god I'm starting to like this Mexican fella, be gutted if he buggers off to Madrid.

He's right though(if it was in reference to Hernandez), fans love to get carried away on a young, bargain buy who's showing lots of promise. When he has his first slump in form, the same fans loving him for being a steal at £7m will probably start the "value signing" whinging again.

The hype is going through the roof now. Need others to step up and take some pressure off.

Aye, could have been.

I'd guess at Hernandez.

Well clearly he's talking about Hernandez since the questions were about him but I thought it was pretty clear he was saying this is something the supporters have done in the past so I was wondering who else he was referring to.

My problem with that is he would have looked like a big signing if we waited until after the World Cup and had to pay millions more.

It'll be interesting to see if Ferguson steps him back from the lime light for a couple of games or encourages him to build his confidence and turn him into a new star at the club.

He is a striker afterall, breed confidence in him and his natural ability will breed the goals.

The way he dragged that across the defender and calmly slotted it away was beautiful, if that were a Macheda or any other young striker they'd have blasted it right footed as soon as it reached them, the presence of mind to take his time and pick his spot was the actions of a man far more experienced than Hernandez.

Good luck getting back into the team Wayne, Because right now your form dosnt deserve to be ahead of guys like this.

A tad too good to be lost in an obscure matchday thread.

Don't worry, I intend to milk it...

 Well, this is a good reason I don't do the player ratings thread when I've watched it on a stream, I suppose. "red and white smear 1: Great goal, poor keeping for their second."

Yahoo must have been watching it on the same stream: Manchester United v Wolverhampton Wanderers | Live | Score | Carling Cup 2010-2011 - Yahoo Eurosport UK

Wouldn't worry about it too much, the Sky commentators kept getting mixed up between the two of them too. Presume they weren't using that stream though

You could take your pick really, Macheda is probably the most recent young player who's been hyped up too much after a good introduction. Seems like Cheech has had a tough enough route to the top though, so hopefully that'll stand him well in keeping his head together.

Nah he's playing too well atm. And were desperate for points.

Talk about living the dream. The kid is making this look way too easy.

I usually hate when supporters go overboard about a young player, but Hernandez just has it. Only a few players have that sort of composure in the box.

He was the spark again tonight, almost made a goal as soon as he came on and then took his chance with effortless class.

Could be the best thing that happens to Rooney. Probably the first time in his United career that his place on the teamsheet is not automatic. The fact he'll have to start fighting for his place again might bring some form out of him.
