Reminds me so much of Ole. Baby faced assassin part 2. This guys special I just know it. I know Fergie will bring him on 70th minute against Newcastle and he will grab a goal. We're lucky to have him.

What exactly has Pato done so much better than him?

he has accomplished almost a 1 in 2 scoring record with one of the biggest clubs in the world (who really don't provide that great of service anymore) in the last 3.5 years whilst being over a year younger than hernandez.

hernandez looks promising, pato has shown it at the top level.

pato is also much better on the dribble than hernandez has shown. Hernandez looks lethal playing off the last defender, exploding on thru balls, shooting, etc.

But pato can do all that plus beat a man or two. His dribbling ability sets them apart. All this while still being younger.

No need to try to compare the two. Fergie was in for pato (on a MUTV interview from the gaffer himself), but the milan bid blew everyone out of the water at the time.

For the record when I mentioned Pato this part of Chicharito's game was all I was comparing.

Can any of you Wiki admins go to the Chicharito page and change his picture from his Mexico jersey to this.

Hernandez is 1 yr 3 months older than Pato. Pato is far the better player at the moment but they are different players. Pato likes to come from deep or wide whislt Hernandez is better through the middle.

I am worried about Chicharito being as effective when we play against the smaller teams who sit very deep, giving him no room for his runs.

He's a good header of the ball as well. He can shoot with either foot and we've seen even in a crowd, can be very quick to get a shot off. He isn't just about getting in behind defenses with pace.

Even with tight packed defenses, that he is always on the move and that will either open up space or at least tire out defenders.

@DVeng I'm trying not to get too excited but it's difficult. I think if Chicharito got 15 goals I'd be happy. But I expect him to get 20+

From Ben Hibbs Twitter.

It sounds like a bit of a muppet comment to say a new signing with no time to adapt might do that but the thing is, I actually agree with him. He has the tools to make a real impact.

I actually think he's going to be a bit like a young Owen. Other teams will call him out and say he doesn't have much to his game but he will annoy the hell out of them by being a bit quiet before suddenly bagging a goal or two out of nowhere.

Those goals will all start to add up...

That is a big target for quite a young striker in his first season at United, but it'd be brilliant if he got around the 15 mark, and he definitely looks capable of it.

J. Hernandez stats: Country 17 games 10 goals
Clubs 65 games 27 goals (Chivas+United)
total 0.45 goals/games

A. Pato stats: Country 9 games 2 goals
Club 87 games 42 goals (Internaciona+Milan)
total 0.45 goals/games

therefore above United fans who states that Pato > Chica are wrong.

To be honest mate that's a bit of a silly comparison.

Pato is a Brazilian international, Chicha Mexican.

Chicha also played his trade for Chivas...in the Mexican league, whereas Pato for Milan in Serie A. You can hardly be comparing Mexican and Italian football. Heck you shove Bobby Zamora in the Mexican league and I bet he'll return a impressive goals:games ratio.

That being said I do have high hopes for our bandit.

brother some above compare them before I just looked at the stats...the last 2 of his Country goals were against Argentina and Spain period

Pato can play in more positions and is a better dribbler. He's also much more creative.

TBF Those stats do not tell you who is the better dribbling wizard and who creates more. For me anyway their styles are too different for the comparison to even make sense.

Is Pato that creative? Whenever I've seen him he's seemed to a player who is great on the ball but not a creative striker like Rooney or Tevez.

As for the comparison, it is too early to tell, but I'll say one thing, Hernadez is a proper goalscorer and he's done what he does much better than Pato has at the international level. That scoring rate for a team like Mexico is amazing.

I'm impressed with Chicharitos precision when he scores. The ball is most of the time in the corner of the goal. Seems like a very lethal and precise finisher

Macari is currently talking him up, big time on Sky Sports. "The most exciting player we have signed for years" apparently.

He also said something along the lines of "his goals will shoot us to the title." I should point out, this was during a live debate, between Macari and Cascarino re: who will win the league this year?

Personally, I would prefer it if expectations were lowered, somewhat.

I'm with you.

Bound to be some ups and downs ahead. The bigger the hype now, the bigger the backlash later on.

The expectations that have grown from a couple of decent goals in a WC, and a few pre-season friendlies is bizarre, quite frankly.

But then again, I'm much more confident than I was when we signed him based on what I've seen, so I can definitely see him making an impact this season. With the delivery from wide we've got he won't lack for chances, and he looks the sort that will always be in the right place at the very least.

Yeah I wouldn't quite agree with that part, but cascarino's an idiot and needed taking down a peg or two. Should really have spent more time rubbing their 3-1 defeat in his face. Notice he would take the £1000 bet either.

One thing I have been very impressed with, is his nerve. Take his goal against Spain, for example. He had plenty of time to run things through his head, and lose his bottle, but he picked his spot perfectly. Neither the occasion, nor opposition seems to phase him. Perfect mentality for a striker.

Good point. He reminds me of Ole (I know, I know) a bit in that he seems to take a very simplistic approach to finishing (unless he falls over and volleys the ball into the ground and then 'faces' the ball into the net). There's nothing showy or high risk about what he does, from what I've seen. It's about hitting the ball cleanly and getting it on target first and foremost.

To be fair, his intelligence, movement and finishing instinct is obvious to see, pre-season friendly or not.. So I think the hype's justified. He's got me proper excited, that's for sure.

Glad you added that proviso.

I don't really care if Pato is better, if we're looking at effectiveness, Chichigoal has all the attributes to succeed here.

But for my first 11, Pato would definitely be my top pick due to having more technique, the ability to hold and dribble the ball and his flair. Chicha is still effective never the less.
