great photo!

I think you're right to an extent, when he misses chances he generally misses them in a bad way, and the stats obviously need a lot to take into consideration considering the quality of the league and the style of attacker he is, but I do think he's a bit more clinical than what you've given him credit for. He's no Ole, I agree with you on that, but he's surprisingly clinical for such a young lad(even if we go on the assumption finishing relies mainly on instinct). Michael Owen for comparison scored 9 goals in 33 shots last season.

Interesting. Maybe he's more clinical than what I've seen from him so far? Could be just over-excitement at his big move to United making him snatch at chances. The same reason Diouf made such a hilarious bollox of that headed chance in his opening game.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes expects Javier Hernandez to emulate Ole Gunnar Solksjaer at Old Trafford

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes is expecting big things from new signing Javier Hernandez this season.

The young Mexican scored in United's 3-1 Community Shield win over Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday, and Scholes believes that comparisons to Ole Gunnar Solksjaer are not wide of the mark.

"He looks like an out-and-out goalscorer," the former England midfielder told MUTV.

"That’s not to say he can’t play outside the box as well, because when the ball comes up to him his touch is good as well. But he's a threat in behind defenders, and hopefully he’ll score a lot of goals this year.

"People say he's like Ole, and I thought that the first time I saw him in training. We did a finishing session and everything was in the bottom corner. He scores whenever he gets a chance."

Scholes has also been impressed with the speed with which 'Chicarito' has already adapted to life in England.

He added: "He comes on and looks lively. He’s adapted to the pace of the game already. He's capable of scoring goals and if he’s anything like Ole, we’ll take that.

Yeah i think Raees article proves what i've said a couple of pages back, i'm not sure where the view comes from that he's not a composed finisher. He actually looks like the most natural finisher we've had at the club since Ruud. If you gave him 10 clear cut chances at this point you would expect him to tuck away 8 of them. I'd expect him to run riot and possibly get a hattrick against 1 side this season, he just seems to have a nack of making runs into positions that defenders find it hard to track and seems very composed with his finishing.

that was my initial thought as well! :D

It's 2008/2009 season. Edwin was on his unbeaten run and the ball went just wide. Cannae rember which game that was.
my guess would be united fulham
iirc we were 3-0 up at that time and it happened around the 65th minute

:D

If he scores against Spain would the explosion here be bigger than if we signed that googly-eye guy?

Why would it? Scoring for United vs Chelsea > Scoring for Mexico vs Spain. Or so I would think.

Because Spain are an even higher level of competition and Mexico are not as good as United. Playing for a weaker team and scoring against an even strong team ... you know might mean something.

Like I said, I'd much prefer Wes at right back. Walcott's equally is one dimensional. Do Lampard and Barry serve a purpose on the international stage?

lennon for walcott, carrick and barry in the middle, gerrard in the hole behind rooney. luckily hungary looks a bit shit so johnson and coles poor form doesnt matter atm.

hungary to win at 21/1 right now, surely worth a punt :D

I'm sure we'll play better in the second half, win and then all of a sudden the media will be talking us up again. In reality right now, we couldn't lace the boots of the likes of Spain or Germany.

Why didn't Ochoa play in the world cup?

The manager ... think there was a bit of controversy when he didn't get picked.

Anyway - doesn't look like Spain is playing that strong a line up as previously mentioned.
