How good are Matuidi and Fernando (Porto)? Both their contracts are expiring this summer. Are they worth a punt? They wont cost much, which means the risk is low.
Matuidi from what I've seen would be perfect for us as a defensive midfielder, I rate him pretty highly. Great energy, isn't useless on the ball like some other midfielders of his type and is very good defensively. Been saying for a while we should go after him. Didn't see as much of Fernando but from what I've heard, he's decent but not that great.

Young, Valencia, Cleverly all had limited talents so you can't really ''blame'' them. They shouldn't be starting at this level.
The idea that a lot of the players are underperforming is ridiculous. They are simply past it (Rio, Vidic, Evra, Giggs), averagely talented (Valencia, Young, Cleverly)... or just plain shit (Ando, Buttner).
The best thing about Moyes is he is under no illusion to these facts and is keen to bring in real top players.
I know we can improve enormously in terms of our first 11 and squad depth. That's been the case for at least 5-6 years. But it's one thing for a manager to identify weaknesses in our squad and quite another to get a team to perform. Moyes, so far, hasn't managed the latter to anywhere near the level they should perform at. Hopefully he can start to show that from now on

Does anyone think Cabaye's arrival at PSG may signal an exit for one of their midfielders, Pastore or Moura?
Neither is really related to where Cabaye plays - Pastore is an advanced midfielder and Moura is a winger. Matuidi is the one who will get the chop in all likelihood but I feel he was going to leave at the end of season anyway.
He could be a decent purchase if better midfielders aren't available. A stop gap signing but a good one at that and could be a valuable back-up option if we sign better players in the Summer.
He's crap. One of those 'scores a lot of goals in Holland but can't cut it anywhere else' types. I couldn't believe how shite he was for Gladbach, expected much better from him.

Matuidi? I don't really know much about him, you could get more feedback from people who watch Ligue 1. He's apparently pretty decent.

Unlikely imo. Moyes is clearly looking at players that immediately come in and improve us and I think its too late for that sort of quality now.

I think we are done and with some of the injured players returning, we are stabilising. Mind you, I'm over the moon with the acquisition of Mata and I really hope to see the team spring to life now.

Coentrao would be an excellent signing but I don't think Madrid are going to let him go without getting a back up and they have already identified a new left back who is likely to move there in the Summer (Moreno from Sevilla).

We are in need of a quality centreback, left back and organising midfielder. Too many for the summer, so may as well get the job done now, even if it costs a few million too many.

We still need a top class CM by Friday if we are to go all out for the CL. I thought Mata and a fit RVP & Rooney would be enough to get us to 4th but I honestly don't think it will be, if we play Jones and Giggs we are going to lose more games this season. We are already a stage where we cannot afford another slip up but the 3 superstars are only 3 players and cannot make up for the others. Can those 3 win us matches on their own and help us keep enough possession in games as well?
