January Transfer Window

agree completely... I can see Kagawa being used as a make weight for someone else at this stage.
If there was a Dortmund player we fancied and Dortmund were willing to sell I could definitely see it.

Shinji Kagawa
Shinji Kagawa
He's in theory great
But he fecking ain't
Shinji Kagawa

Rooney will be free to go wherever he wishes in a year, Chelsea won't be our direct competitors for a while yet and he'll probably end up there in 2015 anyway. Getting Mata in and tying him down for 4-5 years could be crucial for us, I'd rather we did that than lost Rooney for free without a replacement.

Huh? We arent that far behind. Cmon. We just need to make some good signings in the summer and we'l be back up there competing with the other 3.

Regarding Rooney, the race for CL spots this year is too tight and the financial implications too big for us to just sell Rooney in Jan. If a deal is done, it'l be for the summer. As I said later, If Rooney has made up his mind to feck off to chelsea, I'd totally back a deal with mata coming here and rooney the other way in the summer.

Except we are that far behind. All we need are some good signings yet can't compete in wages or money with our competitors, have a man at the helm who has yet to win a major trophy and look capable of losing to anyone our confidence is so low.

We are that far behind and it needs sorting.

What an odd window. United looking rubbish and heading toward a finish noone thought possible and still very little sign of activity. We really should get a midfielder even if its a cheap low risk option.

No, we really shouldn't.

We've got Carrick, Fletcher, Cleverley, Jones, Fellaini and Giggs who are a match for any "cheap low risk option". The very last thing we want to do right now is bloat this squad with further mediocrity. We need world class talent or to continue til the summer with what we have and buy a proper player then.

I would normally agree with that and say that we have enough mediocrity in midfield but right now our midfield is not even mediocre. It really is rubbish. Personally wouldnt mind a "solid" midfielder who can help out for the second half of the season, or better yet, a young midfielder with definite potential but who is far from the finished product. Basically we need something new. It's just too stale.

Couldnt agree with Pexbo more. I was calling for a cheap low risk option (at least) last season but since then we have Fletcher back and looking good and we have bought Felliaini. We have the numbers now, what we need is quality or nothing. Quality that will improve the first team and boost morale around the place.

I think this summer is going to be very exciting.

Brace yourself, here come the Redcafe Transfer Window Memes.

Chelsea will also strengthen plus they'll have Lukaku back, they will have CL football which will give them a big advantage over us in the market on top of being able to offer better wages and fees. I don't see how we are going to catch up with City and Chelsea in the next few years to be fair, maybe someone like Klopp could do wonders in these circumstances.

One half story about Mata and people are ready to ditch Kagawa, what a shower of bastards.

When this Mata thing finally plays out and he is still at Chelsea in Feb we will be stuck with the reality that Shinji is inexplicably still playing backup to Ashley fecking Young.

We're four players away from competing for the title. If we prove to be as ambitious and aggressive in the summer as we're claiming we will then it could be done. I doubt we will though.

I think it'll be the same crushing, soul-destroying disappointment it is most years - though hopefully with some more quality gifs from the usual geniuses. Looking forward to it :D

Firstly, We havent lost out on the CL yet. The season has a considerable part remaining and the gap isnt big at all. Even if we dont, we simply have to keep the players we have which shouldnt be a problem and go out and strengthen the weak areas. If we do that, why cant we not be in the mix again for the next season?

That's an entirely different issue. If we still do what we've been doing and live in a cave refusing to accept that the market has changed, we wont be coming back quickly( if we fall out of the top 4). But, if we do accept that Manchester United's beliefs dont decide the market and we pay up and get top players, I dont see any reason why we cant bounce right back. I do agree about the manager though, Moyes needs to start delivering. If we continue the same drivel we've been serving up and fall out of the top 4, he wouldnt be the guy I'd trust with spending the money to get us back in.

Not at all. If we go in for a stop gap arrangement, we cant simply get rid in the summer. We'l be saddled with another Young on high wages for the next 4-5 yrs as that's the kind of contracts players ask for these days. Much rather we wait than go for another Fellaini at 30mil.

4?

2 center mids, 2 wingers, left back, 1 center half= 6 players

2 CMS, 1 LB and 1 Winger (or AM if we're not going to play wingers anymore).

We're not talking about making the team perfect, just good enough to compete. I don't think Arsenal are any more than four quality players better than us, for example.

I think Carragher made a good point yesterday. Things usually aren't as bad as they seem when you're anticipating a rebuilding job. A team that appears seven or eight players short can look an awful lot better with just three our four quality signings. For example, I'd imagine both our wingers and our defenders would look much better if we had two top CMS helping them out.

At the start of the season I thought Arsenal were miles away from challenging. A few good signings and suddenly they're league leaders.

I doubt we'l let all 3 of Vida, Rio and Evra leave at one go. Vida will stay imo.

Why would Vidic stay if somebody like Galatasary offers him a 3 year deal on more money, when we won't offer more than a one year deal. I would also add a back up RB to play when Rafeal is injured or suspended which seems to be about half the time. I do agree we don't need 2 Wingers.

I was thinking a cheap James McCarthy type option. But you're right, we'd be stuck with too many okay midfielders. Maybe a loan? I just feel like we need something different. We have no one in misfiled who can drive forward for example. Carrick, sitter, Fellaini, slow as feck, fletcher, better but less mobile than before and Cleverley, umm nothing to say. Jones can but most likely hell give the ball away after a few huge strides because he's not a midfielder to begin with.

Jones and Smalling can both play RB. No need for another. Specially considering Varela should be ready in a season or so to deputize.

If Vidic too leaves, we'l need one, I agree but I think he'l stay.

Unfortunately, considering the sheer numbers we have atm , our only option is to wait. There's no way we're getting a United quality CM on loan. Hope Fellaini improves or play Jones next to Carrick. Even Fletch back to 70% of his best would be our 2nd best CM as things stand.

People on here said Arsenal needed 6 or so players to compete for the title and look where they are now. 3 top class players (CM, Wing, LB) and we're good to go next season.

If numbers are such an issue to make us so cautious we probably should let a few go in the summer.

Four, I think. If we only get one cm we're still relying on Carrick a lot. Coming to the stage where he shouldn't be a guaranteed starter.

He's only 32 and he's player that does not depend on pace. While he's underperformed this season I think this is just a blip and he'll be back to his best soon enough.

And losing three players away from flirting with the bottom half of the table?

You're persistent, I'l give you that.

We definitely need to. Far too much deadwood in the team. The likes of Young, Valencia, Anderson(permanently), even Clev need to be sold. Even Fletch unless he makes a drastic comeback. I hate to say it specially in case of fletch but that's how it is. Giggs will retire so even that will free up space and wages. Then sign genuine top quality.

I really don't like Smalling at rb and I feel we are stunting Jones development by playing all over the park, he needs a long run of games at CB to reach his potential. However, I forgot about Varela, where is he now?

I dont like Smalling there either but with Jones and Varela in some time, we dont need to buy another just in case Rafael gets injured.

And I have no clue where Varela is atm mate.
