If Dave wants a big name signing then just do the obvious thing and sign Draxler. He'd be fantastic and is available for the right price. I really hope we aren't chasing another lost cause!

He's two footed but mostly uses his left peg, plays the odd game for Schalke on the right. Tall, skillful, likes to run with the ball. Has a trick or two, dribbles a fair bit and is pretty ruddy fast. He's utterly class IMO, going to be a huge star.

I'm sure Woodword is conducting urgent transfer business right now that will be concluded an hour before the window closes.
I think they will be more alert to consequences of feck-ups now. Who are we genuinely expecting? Herrera? Would that do us? I think with Evans, Jones, Vidic & Smalling that we're well covered for CB. So, a LFB and a CM?

Add Sandro to the list of LB's. I'd be happy with any of those 3 tbh. Shaw probably my preferred option because he's so young and English, but Sandro/Coentrao would be great. Rakitic for me is a must buy, if we aren't seriously considering him as an option then we need to bump Ed/Dave on their heads!
I'd imagine we're after an Atletico Madrid player since Dave went to the Calderon himself - probably Koke, but why would he move in January considering their position?
Probably trying to engineer a summer move or enquire about his availability. Besides it was a good match to watch considering Porto have some decent young players.
You evil muppets. I've been reading the last few pages and now I'll be extremely disappointed if we don't sign Coentrao, Rakitic and Draxler, with Shaw and Barkley arriving in the summer.
We could do with wrapping up our transfers way before deadline day. By the end of January we could be out of the running for the top 4 spaces.
If we haven't done anything by mid next week then I expect nothing to materialise. If we're still bidding for players with a week left to go of the window then it's clear to me that we've learned nothing.
Agreed. It's the biggest January window for us for a long time. It's obvious we need to bring in players to boost the squad and give us a lift. By the summer we could find ourselves behind Pool, Chelsea, Arsenal and City over signing potential targets, now we're still probably just about in contention. Hopefully the club has identified some targets and will act pretty swiftly - and be prepared to pay over the odds. Haggling over £5 million for Leighton Baines on deadline day is what I expect to happen though.
This will end in tears.
I actually read somewhere that he lacks pace for a winger, but he's fast you say? I just cannot warm to the idea of having slow wingers at United - Beckham wasn't quick, but otherwise we rely on speedy wingers for counter attacks. Giggs quick (when young) or Young quick (when rubbish)?
I'm resigned to Moyes saying there is no value in the market, also from past experiences i rather not get my hopes up on any deals until i see something on BBC.
I'd take any wager (if I wasn't a cheap bastard) that we will not see any signing of significance this window. Anyone we really wanted we'd have by now - I mean if we really really wanted the player. Looking back at the Moyes comments, it's clear that we are still entrenched in "value" signing. In a utopian world we'd sign players for what they are "really" worth but, what we believe reality is, is far from reality. Any player we really want is going to cost significantly more than the value we seem to place on them, especially in the January window.
We've probably tried to do our business before the window opened but, been turned away. Moyes may be a bit too meticulous in trying to identify the right target but surely by now he has 1 or 2 solid targets in mind. Now we'll spend the rest of the window bidding no where what it would take to get our targets and then we'll be left with "we were close but, just couldn't pull the trigger". In our delusional reality "close" meaning we were about 10-15 mil of the asking price.

He ain't slow! I remember a goal last season when Schalke countered from a corner and slaughtered the other team. He scored from that move and sprinted like a maniac.
Good, I'm only asking as I haven't seen him play. Will he improve our left side? It's been rubbish attacking wise, and defending wise. It seems to me that Evra has had to take too much of an attacking responsibility with little help offered in defense.

You guys should go for Cagliari's Radja Nainggolan. 25 years old, all around quality midfielder with his strength being more on the defensive side, very aggressive, and Cagliari want to sell. I'd take him to Juve in a heart beat and we are loaded with quality midfielders.
