Jamie Carragher

She's not gonna shag you mate.
this isn't directed at anyone but seems appropriate

It's quite funny that people are criticising Carragher when there's a poster on this page who is cheating on his wife.

You don't think I know? Oh I know

There are milions of thing worse than someone making a joke and banter.
It is not nonsens saying that he made a joke. Something they've been doing previously.

Aren’t jokes supposed to be, you know, funny? The soft lad Jamie was the only person here who started laughing at his own “joke”. Nobody, with a brainless, found this remotely funny.

I know Jamie is from Liverpool, he has been a Liverpool fan since he decided to stop supporting Everton and Liverpool fans in general have a different perception on reality, to put it a bit more bluntly - they aren’t very bright.

But this does not excuse making this sort of comment about a work colleague, his bosses need to take action.

Maybe it is for Carragher. People react differently to different things and have different humour.

That is up to her. Just answer with some funny comment back. What is inappropriate for someone don't need to be for another. If Carragher thinks it is ok with those jokes so be it. Like I said, they have been joking around every time they were on tv. For example Richards have been taking it and laughing it off every time they were at him.
Surely it's up the person on the receiving end to determine if its appropriate banter or crossing the line, not the person saying it?

Worth saying I don't think CBS were too happy with it... On the "best bits" they cut right before it... so yeah.

I don't imagine he'll get fired, probably just asked to apologise and tone it down. Or actually they'll make a joke at his expense about it tonight.

I think carragher is someone who loves to give it but reallly can’t take it, he’s stood there in an Arsenal shirt and is really trying to deflect from that and come out with the most inappropriate belter that went down like a lead balloon. I wish people got stuck into him more, his head would go on live tele
This. He proved it years ago when he was taunted by a United fan and ended up spitting on a teenager. He's lucky Neville takes it quite easy on him most of the time.

Banter isn't unilateral, you get this yes?

Saying "it was just banter" for the person making the jibe can vindicate so many scenarios, whether it's maligning ones character like this example, or bullying etc.
If this was just only time I would understand. But they are doing it all the time. Joking around. This isn't case of bullying. It was ment as joke. Some people think it is poor choice of joke. And some don't care. It is okey to think both.

I don't think it is funny either. But I don't think it should be looked at like worst thing people ever heard.

You are right. But they have been doing it through their show. Joking.

He's a completely different person around Keane. He's not as brash and turns into a mouse.

She handled it quite well but what way to wreck a relationship. If it's a crap gag, the damage is done and, if it's true, why on earth would you say it live on air!

Is he trying to reference the "flirting" with Henry or is he literally just saying she's cheated on her partner?

It comes across terribly either way.
I think he's just made an outlandish comment he thought would get a cheap laugh. You can tell from the reaction he hasn't read the room very well, he's put his colleague in an uncomfortable position on live TV because he's being an idiot.

Who's lynching? People are criticizing it. Hardly anyone is calling for him to be sacked.

Well, do you think he should be sacked for this?

Don't you think taken to the side and talked to..."Jamie, you are an adult man, don't be fecking stupid with your asinine jokes"...should suffice?

No, I don't think he should be sacked. It was inappropriate, but not a sackable offense in my opinion. Maybe if he got a warning and continued to act like that on screen, but so far it's still an isolated occurence.

They are literally never giving any sort of banter that questions character. The context of their banter is about relative sporting achievements, not about maligning a personal life.

Thats why for example, Henry doesn't banter with Charrager about spitting on kids.

As already evidenced, it's not banter. Literally no one took it that way apart from Charrager.

Time to close this website then.

Carragher was a better defender than any of us and yet we talk about how to win the league. Jamie Carragher was also a better player than Mourinho was.

How good someone was at football doesnt mean anything about how much that person knows about football. Paul Scholes comes to mind as an example for that. World class player, worst pundit.
We're not being paid to post on a forum.

This.

I probably agree, I was just wondering if he could maybe excuse it as shit delivery of a joke about her dynamic with Henry.

This isn't always the case. Very recently, Kate was making a joke aimed at Henry relating to Valentine's. There have been jokes made in the past referencing Kate and her past boyfriends. The banter is very schoolyard and unlike what you would see on any other professional Sports network.

Not excusing Carragher, but it isn't particularly surprising that a line has been crossed due to the nature of their banter. They are constantly acting like kids.

Literally every clip I've ever seen of that coverage is some sort of joke at the expense of one of the panel. The whole set up seems designed for them to pull out TikTok/Instagram clips that can go viral, so it's not surprising that we've reached a point where someone has crossed a line with a joke.

Micah Richards has said that they're given more freedom "to be themselves" on CBS than when they work for Sky/BT/whoever. As it transpires, Carragher being himself is Carragher being a massive tosspot.

It was an incredibly unfunny, cringy joke but the overreaction on here is a little wild

That classic Scouse wit on display.

Apparently the last bastion of great humour in this country yet are the usually the most thin skinned, unfunny people.

We need to make a list of other potential jokes Carragher will make in the future:

"I still think we can win the league. My hope is still alive!"
"Unlike your dog who died last week!"

Cringe monster. Saying Kate Abdo isn’t loyal to her fiancé on live tv. Look at Richard’s reaction.

That is a really really weird one. Hope he gets booted for this, pretty strange private joke put on live TV.

How is it an overreaction?
Because this hasn't happened in a vacuum. The show's whole shtick is that they banter with each other, it's not like it's a serious show and he's said this out of nowhere.

He definitely crossed a line but all the calls for him to be sacked for it seems a bit over the top.
