How fast were they going ?

The reason I ask is everytime Ive spat out of a fast moving car it's either dribbled down my chin or got blown back in or ended up on the window of the side door.

Makes it even more impressive tbh. The mark of a seasoned flobber.

Another classic is when you throw a burning cigarette out of the window and it gets sucked in again in the passenger window behind you, landing in your passengers lap.

So what would be a fair punishment in your eyes?

He's been humiliated. Grovelled an apology and has fought back tears on live tv. His digital footprint will always have this incident staining it. Isn't that enough?

After that, society should be redemptive (we live in one) and not hound people to be destroyed over a mistake with zero lasting consequences.

And how do we know that Jamie doesn't have a history of being a scum?

How many people did he spit on that didn't have their cameras to record it?
If that was his reaction to a simple "2-1" banter when he wasn't even playing, what do you think his reaction was with much heavier insults from oppo fans while he was still playing?

Maybe that spit was his Kodak moment but to me it just shows that it wasn't a one time thing.
So you believe he's a serial spitter? Perhaps he is, although we can't assume everything that's caught on camera once is indicative of a multiple offender. I do tend to agree though it seems to be one of those traits that you either have or you don't. To spit directly at another individual is disgusting.

It's probably been said before in this thread, but all this technical talk of spit trajectory makes me think of that Seinfeld episode.

It is quite funny how Sky are making a point out of this, but on the other hand they repeatedly gave screen time to Rooney, Giggs, Gerrard, Lampard etc. all of whom did some questionable shit at some point of their career.

Were they Sky employees ? Jesus christ there are some seriously dumb people on here these days.

Are you having a shit day or something?

What, they did it pro bono did they? Not that it really matters, they're promoting people who have done some stupid shit and then decide to be outraged when another person they're employing does some dumb shit. Seems a bit silly that.

Pony option obviously the best and still losing it.

As annoying as Jeremy Kyle is, I find the idea of him reducing Jamie Carragher to tears on national TV very appealing. A very fitting punishment indeed.

The young girl should of course receive a pony too.

Carragher is only ashamed because he was caught on film, not because he did it in the first place.
Even if he isn't sacked, his reputation is shot.
Can you imagine Brian Clough, Jimmy Armfield or Paddy Crerand doing anything like this?
I found it quite funny watching him on sky news absolutely disgusted with himself. It's like he was watching himself and saying, "now there is a twat". We've been saying that for years.

I'm pretty sure Paddy Crerand landed himself in trouble for spitting at a player during a match in the 1960's.

Very good!

I’ve spent 5 minutes trying to think of anything nearly as good and I couldn’t.

The nearest I’ve got is Gobbie Fow, la (to shamelessly plagiarise your oeuvre).

Apologies.

I've just watched the video clip. He deffo is a good spitter as he got it out his own car as he leans forward ( instincts for lads from Bootle as they love to head butt ) . You can see the spit curving away from the other fellas car though. I reckon it got their side window and not his.

Seven out of ten for effort.

Given his record as a player its a wonder the hocker didn't end up blowing back and ending up in his own face.

I think Ill give him the benefit of the doubt. He lost the head and I think he's genuine enough in his remorse ask apologies.

Not condoning spitting at all. It's disgusting.

Are you a Seinfeld fan? If so, kudos on this post!

Yeah, I'm old :) For me, Seinfeld re-wrote the rules of sitcoms. No big plots, just the little everyday thoughts going on in our heads, mixed with a touch of social faux-pas. Of course, Curb your enthusiasm probably took it one step further.

Excellent. I love both (Seinfeld has moments of genius comic writing I haven’t really seen in any other sitcom) but, (I’m sure you’ve seen it) if you haven’t seen The Larry Sanders Show, may I humbly insist you watch it forthwith. Absolute genius, in my eyes...

I just cannot fathom what was going through his head. Why the fcuk did he not just keep the window up and turn the radio up or something?! Incredible reaction.

It's a different this case. Media is not all about serving good image like other service. Evidently by Sky hired a bunch of professional bullshitter as pundits. Carragher performance is not keeping the channel ethnic but. It's different from politician, activists, good boy/girl pop star... version of public figure
'

 I know he is a scouser but thats a bit strong

Ahh, no I haven't actually. Thanks for the tip :)

Proper disgusted by this when I read it. The dudes gone down to rock bottom position alongside El Hadji Diouf, Barton and Johnson for me now with regards to footballers I'll no longer watch, listen to or read any of their ramblings. Just hope Sky sack him and LFC distance themselves from him cos it's reprehensible and can't be excused or apologised for.

Shit, I wouldn't even do that and I'm not a multi millionaire with media training and in the public eye constantly so you can only put it down to the fact he's scum and done a fairly decent job of putting on a facade for the cameras. What the feck posseses a grown man to spit at a young girl just baffles me, over a tiny bit of banter that's as tame as it gets compared to what us fans face on a daily basis. If one of us did this we'd be banned from the ground for life and pilloried in the media, he's just been suspended and there's some fans even defending it? Not me, I'm a fan of the club, not filthy gobshites.

Good post. Think you've about summed up my feelings. I liked Carragher so I'm disappointed he's done this to himself but I can only assume the bulk of people here trying to sweep this under the carpet have never experienced being spat on themselves.

Cowardly and disgusting thing to do. I don't see any coming back from it personally and as much as I like his punditry I think he has to go.

Great examples.
