I will be gutted if we don't sign James, especially after the early summer links with him. He's probably my favourite player currently, an absolute entertainer who I feel would light up the Premier League. If our original plans were to sign Griezmann as a #10, I can't see many other options that are of the required quality to improve upon Mata/Mkhitaryan.

Agreed, no better alternative on the market for Griezmann than James. I think he would do really well here if played as a 10 behind Morata.

Never been a big fan of him. Don't get me wrong he's good but I won't lose sleep over us not getting him. At least we'll get Griezmann.

..........feck.

I really would like James but we shouldn't be paying over 40m for a player that can't even get in Real's squad.

Strange argument? Real have the best squad in world football at the moment based upon results. Half there bench would walk into a lot of Europes top sides. Fee shouldnt be avoided because a player cant get in Reals squad, more a case of whether they could get in ours and though I dont think that he is what we need personally.....he would still walk into our side at the moment. Not just that, but a premiership where Pickford is £30m, Djik touted at £60m, Keane £25m, Lukaku £100m.....shouldnt be paying over £40m?

Refreshing to see someone with the same opinion about Hamez.
I'll tell you more, he would become a legend here. He has the "son of a football God" aura about him. Like some greats of the past.

Colombian media trolling. English and Spanish media never linked him with us, not even the most suspect ITK, tells you everything really

He'd be a quality player for us and fit in well with the Spanish contingent given the language.

But seeing the way Pogba steamrollered England tonight, with Kante holding, it would be a shame to shackle him. I'd still like to sign him, we need to match Real in Strength and depth if we want to get back to 1999 or 2008 standards

Dembele though yum

You are assuming I'd be happy paying those shocking prices

It would be a travesty of the highest order if we forked out £70m when Dembele is available for roughly the same price.

I suspect there isnt much interest in him thats why all sorts of clubs are being linked to him. Unless he takes a pay cut and real sell for cheap, there are better options on the market. His lack of pace and mobility will mean the big english clubs will pass on him. The italian clubs cant afford him no matter all the nonsense in the media and so that leaves psg. Not sure if psg need him since i dont watch them, but they are his best bet. Not sure if they are stupid enough to pay more than 40 euros for a reject that real want to sell though. If they think abit theyll realise they are the only bid out there if any and hard ball real.

Real will fleece us again, thats why we wont be buying him, i doubt we would buy him for a decent price anyway. We would spend somewhere around 130m pounds for him and Morata, and we have still some other positions to fill.

I really feel that we should be in for this Guy. excelletn passing range, set piece specialist (which we need) and can score from range. He gives us something extra that we need from a no10, especially as all our wide players (martial, mkhy, perisic, lingard) and strikers (morata, rashford) will now have pace to get in behind, which leaves James in the middle to pick the pass.

We need to be tactically diverse enough to play 433 and 4231 plus I think it takes the reliability away from pogba from midfield.

Morata (rashford)

Perisic (martial) James (mata) mkhy (lingard)

Pogba (pereira) Fabinho (Herrera)

It's expensive, but that looks like a properly class team, that can mix tactics easily. Weak link is lingard, but that can wait till next season!

#assuming we get our targets!

[/IMG] Reason why most big clubs will pass on him, for every Hollywood pass and highlight reel goal he scores with his left foot, there are situations where his extreme one footedness makes him a liability. Just not good enough at the highest level.

I'd rather United spent big on Deli Alli.

That is just nonsense. There are so many terribly one-footed players in football history that had very successful careers including left-footed players like Savicevic, Suker, Robben, Vieri, Rivaldo, Messi and Maradona

Everyone is for the right price. Spurs would probably demand upwards of 70M. He'd be the perfect Rooney replacement IMO
I think this window will prove that is just not true. Look at Southhampton knocking back 60 mil for Van Dijk. Look at Everton demanding 100 mil for Lukaku. Premier league clubs are awash with money these days, they don't have to sell for any price, and even if they did accept silly money, there's no guarantee they could find an adequate replacement in time. You're behind the times if you honestly think Spurs would take 70 mil for Alli, he's up there with Mbappe and Dembele as the best young talent of his generation and Levy wants to keep all his starts for the move to the new stadium.

Of the players you have quoted, Messi, Maradona, vieri arnt one footed. Their weaker foot is still deadly they just don't use it that much and that's due to their excellent technique. Rivaldo and robben are but have brilliant quick feet that allows them to create their own space. They also have good acceleration which James doesn't. The rest I haven't watched.

Go watch the clip I posted, it just shows poor technique and decision making. I will be posting more of these in the coming days. World class player my foot!

You can post all the clips you want, but it doesnt change the fact that your claim "most big clubs will pass on him" is arrant nonsense.

The reality is that Monaco paid €45m and Real Madrid paid €75m to sign him with his one-foot and shows the folly of your pursuit.
