Should we pursue him? No. BUT if he's offered to us by Madrid of their own accord at a fair price then I would accept.

I know the story is naturally going to be BS like always, but how can a pre contract be signed?

He isn't out of contract this Summer

He's Colombian, they aren't the wimpy types, generally South Americans have plenty of fight in them. Whether the weather would effect him though.. can see him struggling in the cold.

Is this story really true?????!!!!!!!!:eek::eek: I will totally explode if it is! WE are SIGNING James!!! ROD!!! Ri GUE Z!!!!!!!!! Awwwwwwww!!!!!!!! GOD.

Mourinho would not buy a player if he does not think the player is mentally up for it. We all know that is something Jose sets as a very high standard, (even though he´s transfer history is perfect). James i obviously a class player with alot of talent, but fitting him in would be a bigger problem i believe.

Yes. Why? Because our best player (Pogba), in my opinion, plays much better in a 433. When he plays in a 4231, he's just as good going forward, but defensively, he's a liability, at times.
and your opinion should be taken over Mourinho's?

Even if your assertion was true (which is not), cant you simply pair Pogba with solid DM or Pogba improves defensively. At Madrid, Makelele was the only ball winner in the midfield and they played with two overlapping fullbacks to boot.

South American media makes the sun look like the BBC. Hopefully they are bullshitting now too, I don't want him.

Completely agree about Keita

I did not know Keita prior to this season, but as a Bayern and Bundesliga fan i have matched more than 10 games of Leipzig this season and i can only confirm your opionion. Keita is already a very good player and has the potential to be an absolutely amazin one. The description of an "attacking Kante" is actually quite accurate.

feck it I just want some potency around our attacking 3rd now. I'd fecking settle for Ryan Babel right now if it meant we would start playing good football.

I mean...it wouldn't.

But I feel the same regarding our utter lack of fluency. We must be the worst "big club" in Europe to watch.

We need quality players who can link up with Pogba and other new arrivals. I wouldn't say no. He still impresses with little time he gets.

Anyone else think this transfer may see herrera benched? If we're movjng to a 4231 to accomodate james like a lot of people believe, then pogba would be in the two. It doesn't work very well with them both in a 2, so that would suggest an alternative partner for pogba coming in as well.

If I remember correctly Woodward's been after a South American star for awhile, he wants to make commercial inroads
It's not the same though. James looks to want to come here.

Di Maria's preferred destination was PSG.

True, but I think it was more Di Maria didn't want to leave Madrid at all. Im sure no player does, but Rodriguez hasn't been a starter for 2 years; so likely to come without di Maria's baggage.

He'd be another expensive disaster here.

As others have said fairly confident this is bollocks thankfully.

It looks like the Colombian media have belatedly picked up stories from Europe a couple of days that linked him with us and recycled them with a new twist. Mendes needs to find a buyer who will pay top dollar for him and linking him constantly with us will help that process. I don't see it happening as Pogba will obviously be our No.10 when Rooney goes. Then we have Herrera behind him along with a newly signed defensive midfielder such as Matuidi or Naby Keita.

The smart money would be on PSG landing him.

The only way this really makes sense to me is if we're selling Mata and signing a rightwinger with pace, let's say Douglas Costa as an example.

Martial, Rashford and Mkhitaryan as 3 options for the LW and 9 spots with James and Costa fighting for the RW spots and James playing as the 10 when we play 4-2-3-1 with Lingard as the spare depth attacker everywhere.

But I'd rather spend the money on a proper wide attacker and then just grab a cheap 9 like Defoe on a free for the year to backup Martial and Rashford.

Dont think I could stomach this transfer, my father always whines about having to call him Hammez endlessly during WC's, now its going to be every fecking United game. :(

But is Pogba going to be his Cambiasso?
No, Pogba is the CM not the DM. Cambiasso was the DM while Motta/Stankovic was the CM.

Madrids freezing in the winter months even colder than here sometimes

and why would we want an average player like Douglas Costa who at 26yrs cant displace a 34yr old ribery? In 14 starts + 8 subs he has only 4 goals and 3 goals. Even when Bayern beat Hamburg 8-0, he could only manage one assist despite playing the entire game!

Apologies if discussed already

I don't understand how this notion of Adidas demanding James take the 10 shirt could be true. United have a contract with Adidas signed three years ago or whenever, so would Adidas have inserted a clause regarding this situation back then and if so how would such a clause be worded? And if it's something that has come up in negotiations for the James deal now then I don't see how it can be any more than a request than a demand from Adidas. After all James is a free man and Adidas can't stop United from buying aa player.

Maybe I'm thick or maybe it's just clearly bullshit and I'm silly for even taking it seriously

One possibility is a clause in James adidas contract associated with the #10. He has won the #10 since his last season at Porto.

Fellaini doesn't do anything useful for a CM.... not an odd swap at all.

Scoring goals in semifinals isn't a bad trait. He is clumsy, prone to the odd brainfart, and altogether not that good, but I don't think you realise how important he was to relieve pressure against Celta (particularly away).

It's not pretty I know, but "punt it to Fellaini and get the second ball" is far more effective than "punt it to a bunch of midgets and invariably lose the ball".

So Eto'o was joining the box and leaving Maicon taking the flank back and forth ? That looks exactly as our plan at the start of the season with Mata and Valencia.

He can deploy Griezmann in this position then, a RW on paper but joining the box leaving Valencia to take the right wing position while attacking, with James at Sneijder place in this formation and Rashford up front and it will look exactly the same. Will still need a high quality DMF to cover behind Pogba.

Looks very encouraging.

Or ya know we could get some control in there and not punt it at all, we should be able to play our way out of defence up the field with the quality and money spent on our squad.

I'm tired of playing to always counter the oppositions gameplan, we should be forcing them to change and play our own game win or lose. 433 or 4231 whatever Jose fancies but play to attack and score goals not pick a starting 11 filled with players who will 'do a job'.
