Our academy prospects are not better than the mid and bottom table teams first team players (some of our first teamers aren't either...), stop lying to yourselves. Every time we hype these youths up and push managers to play them only for it to inevitably back fire when they play poorly and start getting abuse.
Have you noticed every single post you make is negative about United players; and you have no suggestions to improve the side? An neutral might even think you were a Liverpool fan.

How about "Every time we hype these youths up and push managers to" sign better squad players it will inevitably work when they play better and stop getting abuse?

Really happy to see him get a game. Tough place to play but hopefully he can make a case for starting over Matic and Fred in the future.

He's been around the first team for a while though not involved as heavily as today. I hope he feels confident to express himself straight off the bat because he's been around the first team for as long as he has. He's certainly good enough.

I don't think such a hostile place is the ideal place to give a debut to a teenager but it is what it is and we need him to perform and confirm himself as a first team option as we are so thin. He certainly needs to take his chance.

Partizan 0:1 Man Utd
Ok today but still looks like a 17 year old physically, this season too early for him imho

Also, sort your hair out

Nothing wrong with his hair, do you want him to be like Lingard? Garner should be focusing on his football, this hair BS that people talk about is absolutely needless.

Green as anything. If the sixth group game is a dead rubber, then he could play then. Otherwise, nowhere near ready.

Did ok for his first start on what appeared to be a challenging surface. A bit sloppy at times, letting the ball run under his foot and giving away possession in our half. A good learning experience for him.

It was a difficult game for him to make his full debut, and a few passes didn't come off but you could see what he was trying to do.

Did okay for his first game. Kept it simple but you can see he is a good passer. Puts the correct pace on his simple passes to team mates unlike some of the rest who cannot keep a simple pass on the floor without bobbling it.

Average performance. Solskjaer didn't do him in any favours by having him play alone at the base of midfield while McTominay, Lingard and Mata all went forward.

I'm surprised people are happy with his performance. I don't know if it were the nerves or what but he never asked for the ball in the centre midfield, didn't attack any spaces when the 3 centre halves had the ball and was quite sloppy in possession.

Looked very nervous which is understandable. Instead of branding him "not ready" we should give him more game time to evaluate that first. Only experts on here can make up their mind in 60 minutes of game time.

Didn’t play well but it’s not easy to make your debut in these conditions.

Wasn’t great but our 50 million pound Brazilian hasn’t performed any better so...

It was crazy giving a teenager a debut in midfield under those circumstances. Almost like it was deliberate to give him fame time in situations where he was likely to struggle so as to justify further exclusion from the team. It's either Ole overrated him/underrated the team or simply threw him to the wolves. I though the right way would have been a few 10/15/20 minute cameos building up to a full debut in a more settled setting.

Hate saying it but our club right now is not the best place for these youngsters to play and develop. Our squad is a mess and we expect these young players to be our savior. It's good they are getting the experience but apart from Mctominay all of them are directionless. The whole system is a flawed one.

Young players need the right guidance and be coached by good coaches. He's screwed, we're leaving the key years of his development in the hands of a novice. Same for AWB, Chong, Gomes and Greenwood. They'll be the same players in 3-4 years time, and a part of the 'problem'

Absolutely. Ole wont make them better, thats for sure.

Are you sure? I think the fact he’s actually giving them game time is the number one major factor in young player development now they’ve come through years of intensive coaching. These lads will be far better next year for the experience they get this year. As for being a novice, ole isn’t a novice he’s been a manager for several years and was even our under 21 coach wasn’t he?

So it was good for Williams to start cause he had a good game. But in the same time it was horrible to start Garner.
How does that work?

Williams at least had Maguire, Jones, Rojo and Romero to play with who could guide him. Garner had McT and Mata in a hostile environment and hasn't tasted first team football this season whilst Williams had been getting some minutes.

Different positions? Playing left back is a lot easier than being part of 'the engine' of the team.

Not much more minutes. Mata is a veteran just as Rojo, Jones and Maguire are.

Great to see him play and despite what others think, will have done him the world of good playing tonight.

He’s got a very bright future, hardly a standout performance but at 17, he didn’t look out of place and will in time be a key part of the future midfield.

I won't sugar coat like a lot - he was pap. Doesn't mean he'll always be pap, but he was tonight.

What happened to bringing youngsters when they were semi-ready? Is that not a thing anymore?

Hopefully it was mostly nerves but you should be somewhat used to playing on a reasonable platform before playing in an important game right?

That was a job well done tonight. Two kids involved in a European away win. I wouldn't underestimate it. Garner was fine. Didn't look overwhelmed. It was never realistic to expect him to come in and replace Matic. But he's a talented lad and we'll see what level he reaches given time.

He was yes.

Plus we have many many coaches. Fans seem to think we are like a Sunday team, even most of them have 2 coaches
