Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

There was such a feelgood factor after we got top 4. We really thougt we were going to build on Ole's vision but all we've signed is a rotation option. If we can't get Sancho then okay, but for us to have ignored the other glaring weaknesses in the squad is ridiculous. Upamecano was available for like £42m before he signed the new deal. All it needed was for us to be decisive for once, and move on from this wild goose chase. People were literally saying "move on" 3 weeks ago, but Ed who is closer to the deal than any of us couldn't figure it out.

Any of you guys who think this deal will still happen need to get your heads examined.

Both Chelsea and City could have bought him if they felt it was value for money. City walked away from the Pogba, Alexis and Maguire deal when they felt the price wasn't worth it. We have to learn the same and not overpay every time we want a player. Look at the kind of team red-bull as well as Bayern have assembled without ever over-paying.
Are you suggesting Chelsea and City have created their current squads without over spending?

I mean you could look at a list as long as your arm for failed and wasteful signings for both of them.

Seen Gary Neville saying we are looking desperate by not moving on and that it's clear we have no alternative.
Gary needs to shut his feckin mouth if you ask me.

Prime example of him knowing feck all about a situation and therefore only adding pressure to it by commenting on it in the press.

The club haven’t made a statement on the signing either way, so why he thinks he can talk on our behalf I don’t know.

He had a €60 mill release clause

Oh come the end of the transfer window I'll get my head examined.

The days of agreeing with Neville's opinion went a long time ago.

Perhaps the club feel they'd rather go with Mason on the right if they can't get Sancho. Who else really is available? they might go back in for Sancho in January instead.

Can't argue with any of that really however I'm willing to let it slide in this case as long as we end up getting him because he's worth the wait. Neville will be one of the first to heap praise on United if we end up signing him.
Could be co-ordinated with OGS to put some gentle pressure on the board?

Harsh but true

I watched the thing. To be fair, he came across more of a psssionate fan than acfually a guest on the show

Yeah bit sick of him to be honest. I’d rather him not comment on our business as it can come across like we are idiots when he makes assumptions on what we are doing.

It’s becuase he’s an ex player, the average reader may think it lends more weight to what are only his own opinions, not inside knowledge.

Shouldn't that be giving you the impression that the deal is very much still alive?

The journalists on this side of the continent have been consistent that if the deal is to be done, it will be late in the window simply because of how the market is right now and the size of the deal.

I'm not so worried about it being a PR disaster, however Ed won't like that, I agree in that sense.

I'm more concerned with having this hanging over us for pundits and papers to use as a stick to bash us with whenever we have a poor result.

On top of the existing problems we've had with the squad in this short off-season it will be just another negative issue to start the season with. Plus the most important thing is that, on the field, we feckin' need him.
That will always happen with United. We can win the treble next season and there will be plenty of made up negativity with Pogbas hair, Maguire more expensive then VVD but not as good, etc.

He was asked about it by the host to be fair. Don't think he would have no comment on it if he's given the opportunity to air what he thinks. Also don't think anyone thinks he will have any inside knowledge or scoop inside the club. The likes of Rio and Evra i reckon have more knowledge on that than him

He knows exactly why we haven't moved on and it's not to do with not having other targets, it's because we genuinely believe we can get the deal done eventually. Right or wrong, that's pretty obviously what's happening and I don't really get why he's banging this drum. We won't look desperate any more than Liverpool looked desperate holding on for VVD, or Chelsea buying Havertz after a long negotiation. If you genuinely want that player more than any other, you push it as far as you can in terms of getting it done and if that doesn't work, you pull the trigger on one of your backup options. Why settle for, say, Douglas Costa with a few weeks of the window left when a bit of patience and perseverance might get you a genuinely top class young English player who would improve the side from day one and have plenty of scope to train on personally.

How about a couple of the Glazers dip in to their personal funds for the club. Sixty from the club and sixty from them. All these cnuts are rich until it's time to spend their own money.
I fecking long for the day Woodward and Judge are no longer at the club or at least operating in their current capacities. They are just not very good at their jobs and football knows it.

Tbf he’d probably criticise the club if we did move on and settled for second or third choice targets.

He has all the answers as usual.

He's doing his job. He's paid to comment and provide opinion.

The weird thing is he was just on a podcast and praising us taking our time as it showed we weren’t panicking... he’s contradicting himself in the space of days

Yeah he's become a nuisance. He should recognise that whatever he says can be misinterpreted due to his previous links within the club.

Not to mention it undermines the manager if he's suggesting we are 'dithering' or being indecisive. Even if that is the case!

He should be more than aware of the press circus when it comes to United, just say nothing if you know nothing.

I think Ed is waiting to see if fans will be allowed back in the stadiums or not, if there's another flair up and fans can't get back in for a while, i wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen

And then if we do move on and settle for a lesser player the club will be accused of no ambition. There’s no alternative to Sancho because he’s the best young player around with Mbappe and we’ve identified him as a player who can be key for us over the next 5/6 years.

I like Neville. Great player for us. But I don't know why he's regarded as an expert. His only management experience turned out to be a failure. I usually don't get too bothered at pundits who have failed at management expressing their opinions but the way Neville talks like he has all the answers really annoys me. He talks like Valencia didn't happen.

we need at least 1000 pages before Ed can be convinced to sign him
