Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Kroos would have most likely been our best signing post Ferguson.

Hopefully Woodward learnt from that and silence in this case is something positive. If not, he can feck off and work with signing his obscure sponsorship deals.

Imagine if we don't get Sancho and the following few days we announce a new sponsorship deal :D

Just how much more talking can they be doing? At this point surely every avenue has been exhausted. It’s clear they’ve not agreed on something. It seems Dortmund want the cash up front but we want to pay installments.

you’d think eventually Dortmund will cave but in the mean time we need to get cracking with other deals.

I’d love to know what they talk about during these apparently lengthy discussions. I don’t see how it can possibly take the time it seems to take. I mean, how long can they really carry this on:

“How about this?”
“No.”
“Ok. This?”
“No.”
“Ah go on.”

I’d love to be a fly on the wall, just to see how they manage to make it last months.

It last months because there is actual millions involved and both parties don't just back down and throw millions away.
I doubt they are sitting together in a room the whole time, there will be stablemates and then leaving it for days/weeks to see who blinks first.

I suspect as you say the initial agreement is pretty easy, but it’s the payment structure and the clauses in the contract that take the negotiating. Woodward seems to be a fan of the balon d’or clause that he saw on football manager  I suspect the press haven’t a clue and even people like Romano have given up on it in the mean time.

whether the deal is actually done and Dortmund have just asked for time to get their finances sorted and get a replacement? All the chat constantly would only make buying harder for them also... hopefully it’s all an agreed front.

Did Romano do any reporting of Sociedad being interested in David Silva?

They just signed him after it was being reported him to Lazio was a done deal(something Romano also reported).

Or it'll be us who'll crack first and be thoroughly rinsed in the process.

I’ve made my opinion on Romano clear, I don’t think hes any more ITK than the rest of them.

Why are United not focussing their efforts on Grealish instead? They stand a better chance with him than pursuing Sancho.

He back tracked with some bullshit excuse that Sociedad gazumped the deal which was nailed on etc...

"total agreement"

"here we go"

"you love to see it"

Whatever you Billy Bullshitting cnut, esahnul and tribal football tell less lies.

I mean I don't recall him mentioning Sociedad having interest at all.

Seems like he got that completely wrong(D.Silva and Lazio).

Exactly, as per reports we've been having talks for over a month now. Whats new to say? Surely a dead end has been reached and someone got to give.

Yup and now he’s backtracking saying the deal was hijacked blah blah.

I’ve said for ages he’s a bullsh!tter

He has got plenty of information right. Just because he gets a few things wrong doesn't make him a bullshitter. No journalist who discusses ongoing transfers or potential transfers can get everything right.

I don’t think they are talking all day everyday. It’s probably correspondence here, bit of posturing, couple of days then more of the same.

I think we are letting them stew now on us potentially looking elsewhere, then we will go back in with our final offer. Let’s hope that offer will be enough.

You can’t say it’s officially off until United brief the usual British media that we’ve pulled out.

It’s the perfect cover isnt it. We could all be football journalists if we dedicated ourselves to twitter all day instead of doing a real job.

The guy just rehashes the established ongoing transfers, he tries to come off as having an authentic reliability but it’s purely through sitting on the fence until a transfer is more or less complete, then examples like today with Silva happen which highlight this.

I don’t know why people feel the need to protect him. I really don’t.

Jackie boy aint an alternative to the right wing, Sarr, Depay and Zaha are.

Grealish should be purchased as well as so we don't burn out Bruno.
I say so because I honestly don't see United signing both Sancho and Grealish, that's a massive bill. And apart from his attacking role Grealish is defensively better as well.

The established ongoing transfers only come to light because of journalists such as Romano. I do appreciate the point you are making and I do agree with it, just that I think Romano is not one of the journalists you are referring to. But fair enough.

Should we be excited that we haven't briefed giving up or worried that we aren't briefing we are still interested? Glass half full and all that.

Jokes aside, I think Dortmund will let him leave if we pay up. They'd be getting a ridiculous fee and no matter what they say, they are miles off competing domestically and in Europe, Sancho won't make a difference in that regard and at best they keep him for one further year.

He's worth 120m, i think if we can get rid of some deadwood we could justify the fee, but otherwise the lack of reports are getting worrying

To be fair, they are only 13 points behind Bayern, whereas we are 33 points behind Liverpool.

For sure, but my point was more regarding sustainability. They have a specific model that works for them but we are more capable of investing etc. to become competitive again. Whether or not we will is a completely different argument mind, but the point stands.

They know they ain't topping Bayern anytime soon, keeping him for one further year ultimately won't have much of a difference on their season whilst losing out on a ridiculous sum, is what I meant

What’s frustrating about this situation is the only reason we haven’t completed this deal already is because of Covid. Nothing else. If it wasn’t for Covid, he would be at old trafford already. The uncertainty in financial market is what’s holding it back.

It’s annoying because after spending:
£80m Macguire
£50m AWB
£50m Fred
£65m Bruno
£30m Lindelof
£80m Lukaku
£90m Pogba
etc.

Out of all that money we have splashed in recent years, Sancho is literally the best player we have had the opportunity to sign since we signed Rooney. I don’t even include Ronaldo because he wasn’t as productive as Sancho is at the time we signed him.

We may never get a better opportunity to sign someone who could take us to another level over the next 10 years because that “one” year we chose not to spend silly money is the year Sancho is available.

You may recall many of those players were going to take us to the next level as well. Nothing is guaranteed regarding Sancho’s continued progression.Let’s not heap too much on the lad’s shoulders.

Point is, he still have 3 years contract with Dortmund, and Dortmund is in no rush to sell, and they could even sell him for higher price next summer if the markets is recovering and there are more clubs who could afford him, who knows.
Besides, their fans could also argue that since we are so far behind Liverpool and won't be challenging them any soon, it won't make any difference of us signing him this summer either.
