Dortmund were already going to make a shitload of money on selling him, the short term increase in wages doesn't cover the potential downside by not getting a transfer and the increased wages. Dortmund are the big winners, not Sancho.
If earning more money was Sancho's primary motivation, why not join United who can not only meet his salary demands but comfortably exceed them?
I actually think the £108 million quoted in football terms is a decent price, covid or no covid.

I don't think that is the case here. Dortmund sold Dembele for 120 who was not near on the level of Sancho at that moment. Ed just can't win among fans.

He is refusing to pay 120 mil up front. In this post covid era it is sensible thing to do. IF that info about our offer is true (70+30+20) then he really did what he could here.
I will repeat again. We need Sancho's help here. He needs to put transfer request. That is how and why Barca and Real are buying players quickly (Dembele, Mascherano, Coutinho, Modric, Suarez..).
It is maybe ugly thing to do from player but it shows player's clear intentions.

I don't see Sancho handing in a transfer request. I'm sure he's happy enough to go again for Dortmund and see what else comes next summer, It may work out better overall for him.
Dortmund have improved financially and are trying to establish themselves while making money, they can have a good stab at the league with Sancho still there and build a stronger rep as a force in German football. Dortmund have more flexibility than 5-10 years ago. Said this last year so not a surprise, we'll see if we cough up or look at other targets.

It’s difficult in Covid times because we don’t know when stadiums will be full again and things back to normal. I can easily believe we value him at this price but have been using Covid as a bargaining tool to stagger the payments. £108m is a big outlay when we’re missing some usual revenue streams.

I Think Woodward & boards are right about their finances...BVB is financially modeled in receiving transfer income every financial year. They can be *tough* on the stance regarding Sancho, but the numbers don't help.
I have also looked up their dividend history. 0.06 per share for the past 5 years but they only make 0.04 EPS during Q1-Q3.

Why are Bayern fans sticking up for Dortmund? They should be glad we snatch Sancho away. It's like we would be happy if Madrid were in for De Bruyne and they wouldn't get him, or Barcelona for Salah.

I read many posts from Dortmund fans (not on here) who really believe the deal is off for this season, which is silly or delusional. At this point the only real deadline is the closure of the transfer window. But I also read others saying Dortmund would be stupid not selling him for the asking price of 120M. I think it's still more likely to go through this summer than not.

Honestly, if I were a shareholder of Dortmund and they would sell Sancho for 80m now although he's got a contract until 2023, that would have me thinking about suing the club. Such a deal would be so ridiculously bad from an economic perspective that it has to be shady.
It makes absolutely zero sense for Dortmund to sell Sancho now unless they receive the asking price. If not, they can wait another year, profit from having a world class talent in their team and still make more from him. 120m is already a very low price tag compared to the likes of Dembele or Joao Felix. Sancho is better than both and he's British and players of that nationality are generally worth more due to the EPL rules.

I think it will, but it'll drag on as we do our best to lower the price (we ended up getting a great deal on Pogba from the original price - Juventus even ended up paying the agent fee).

A club like United draws most of their income through commercial and broadcasting revenue. They would have been affected, of course, but to a considerably lesser extent compared to the smaller clubs who survive solely on matchday revenue simply to stay afloat.

Most Bayern fans want an exciting league with exciting players. But we cannot play worse on purpose, so we want that our competitors get better. We already lost Werner, it looks like we're losing Havertz and Thiago and the only comparable player coming into the league is Sané. I want Sancho to stay at Dortmund. I want Dortmund to really challenge us for the title. Because our (international) development in the last ten years was also due to the fact that Hoeneß couldn't stand the fact, that Dortmund made us look like fools in 2011 and 2012.
If Dortmund manages to keep Haaland, Sancho, Reyna, Bellingham (and Moukoko) together for 3 or 4 years, they could not only win national titles but also be a dark horse contestor for the CL i think.
Also...i just can't hear the "Bayerns farmer league", "One horse race league" stuff around here and elsewhere regarding the Bundesliga anymore.
So yeah, i want Dortmund to keep their best players.
