Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Honestly it's probably some social media manager who retweeted something positive with Sancho's name attached without really thinking about it, or reading the whole tweet.

keep your common sense away from the transfer forum thank you!

ITS ON!!!

Hypothetically if Dortmund made it clear that they were not selling him this summer but would be open to a transfer next summer then which viewpoint would you be closer to:

a) We should wait a year for Sancho. He's the perfect player for our team and I'm okay with one more year of Lingard/Mata on the right.
b) Have to move on to another target. There's other good right wingers out there and I can't take another year of no attacks from the right.

In that case only one option due to how shite our right side is. Make a pre agreement to sign Sancho and then also sign/loan a temporary right winger for next season.

Or do something like city were they boughy Bernardo who is a perfectly good at wing and midfield.

We can't not have a right side again next season. It simply isn't an option. We make games so hard for ourselves literally only using one side of the pitch most of the time.

He is clearly worth the punt.

He could be a superstar. Real crowd pleaser.

When's the last time we had one of them?

He's the real deal. People doubting him are the same ones who were doubting Mbappe. If Woody messes this one up we riot.

Martial was playing under a manager that didn't suit him and something just wasn't clicking between them. Different manager can draw different qualities from players. It's not like Rashford was showing any type of development under Mourinho. He had a mostly decent first year with Mourinho. A standout game last season against Liverpool but really didn't play much in the 2nd half of the season. Then first half of this season was in and out constantly. Ole comes in, puts his faith in him and Rashford rewards it. Martial was playing well before his injury, but the injuries have been the biggest problem for him under Ole. People over reacting and jumping to conclusions because he had one bad game where he was half fit against Wolves now. Classic with people wanting to always jump on his back though.

Anyway, he's been a more regular goalscorer this season than his previous years. He always creates plenty of chances and that part of his game is always developing. Just been unfortunate with injuries.

You could clearly see Rashford’s striking technique improving. Just off that alone you are wrong.

"Excuses" Ffs. So what would you say for Pogba? He stalled and just was average for 2.5 years but suddenly developed with Ole? The manager being a fecking idiot has nothing to do with any of them stalling right?
Guess we'll say the same or Herrera failing to ever make the step up under Mourinho (despite winning the POTS in his first year, and then being dropped down to a rotation player). Or another great example of Mourinho's management, constant fecking about with Shaw. Are we going to credit Mourinho's "hard management" for Shaw, Pogba, Rashford, Herrera and everyone else now actually showing they are quality players the second he left? Or is it a case of Mourinho was the reason for so many of them to be struggling for any sort of consistency.

Yes Martial failed to push on after his first season. Saying it's some bs excuses is fecking laughable though. The shit that happened between basically summer 2017 to December 2018 is all a write off IMO. Nobody should look at any of the shit between those dates in terms of player performance/development/lack of development because it was one big cluster feck under a manager who doesn't have a clue on how to develop even the most promising young players.

Dont ever compare Pogba to Martial. Pogba has been way better and its not even close.

Salah showed development in Italy to an extent but was still inconsistent. He also showed development after he left Mourinho. De Bruyne showed development in Germany when he was away from Mourinho. Lukaku showed development in his game when he left Chelsea to get regular first team football instead of just being a rotation option. Rashford has suddenly showed development now that he's a key player. Martial was playing very well for Mourinho before we bought Sanchez, then got dropped in 2 seconds. Then he eventually worked his way back in this season and scored in like 5 or 6 games in a row and funnily enough was probably the reason Mourinho stayed an extra month or so. And then Ole took over and he was again playing well, but has been interrupted with injuries, and now had a bad couple of performances coming back from injuries. Hardly a shock. Crazy to claim on the back of that, that now he suddenly isn't developing at all.

Salah was improving and developing period. You are just looking for excuses.

All that to try defend a player who has not developed in 3 years. It’s always someone elses fault when it comes to Martial.

This is the Sancho thread

In my opinion Rashford's striking technique has regressed.

He relies on C.Ronaldo type of long range power shots because he was placed out wide as a winger under Jose & therefore Rashford himself changed his striking technique to match the position he was playing.
Rashford also became more selfish than he has ever been under Jose for the exact same reason; trying to show off from out wide - something he was rubbish at & still is. When he initially came through from LVG he was looking more like a predatory striker playing in the right areas at the right time scoring goals from heading, shooting without first touches, taking on a single defender to shoot etc.

Now he likes a combination of a winger and a striker and iss struggling to grow in to one role as of yet. Hopefully he does under ole.

What a way to spin progression into regression

Anyway, nice assist for Sancho tonight

If we don't sign him or at least make a serious attempt then I can't take anyone at the club seriously.

Not been at his best tonight it’s fair to say, but he’s stayed a threat all night and regularly been double marked. No surprise that sterling has had plenty of room because of this.

Anybody who can not be at their best but still get an assist is a sign of a top player.

very creative player. i like creative players who can set up others. how many assists this year?

He's good but not 100mil good - £80mil plus add ons should do the trick

Who cares what he costs? It's not my money.

Really hope we spend a large wedge on young English players this Summer. Sancho, Rice and Wan-Bissaka. Sorted in those position for a decade.

I would love that to be our summer recruitment.

Add in CHO for good measure.

It matters because we don't have unlimited funds and we still have other positions to invest in.

Yeh but you nor I know our finances. If we spent 300mil on Sancho I wouldn't care. We wouldn't do it if we couldn't afford it.

I know that's an extreme example, but we place way too much emphasis on how much a player costs. You're saying 100 is too much, but 80 plus add-ons is ok. 20mil is nothing these days.

Very unlucky not to get the goal, seems like Raheem took all the luck today. Good composure on the ball, doesn't rush decisions especially when there's no passing option. Really good signs for an 18 year old.

Smart player, doesn't overdo the individual play, understands how to work within a team shape, very composed and reads the game well. Mentioned it in the other thread but he had a few dodgy first touches that surprised me, for those who have watched more of him, is that something that happens often with him?

Fantastic for his age. No doubt.
