Jadon Sancho - Chelsea (loan) watch

I came here to echo what others have mentioned: I believe he would have been ideal in that inside forward role. Beyond Amad, we really lack technical wingers in the squad. Rashford and Garnacho thrive when they have space to operate, but Sancho brings a different skill set. He excels at receiving the ball in tight spaces and can skilfully manoeuvre out of difficult situations. Additionally, he provides that creative spark we desperately need in the attack.

But he's done none of those things since he came back to England.

That's a lie but we'll agree to disagree.

Ok slight hyperbole. He's very very rarely done any of those things since he came to the PL and certainly not on a consistent basis.

Even his assists at Chelsea weren't in anyway impressive. It's not as if he was skinning people and putting chances on a plate.

He's done at United, thankfully.

He's absolutely shite. He will score tomorrow because that's how the world works, but regardless, he is shite.

“he’ll revert to type” kills me because he was one of the most productive wingers in Europe before United. So maybe the type is him creating goals and United was the anomaly?

Good to see him doing well, I’m always happy to see players get their careers back on track
Kinda seems like he's reverting to type.

As stated in the post you quoted "maybe the type is him creating goals and United was the anomaly?" I mean, he was one of the most productive wingers in europe at one point, for a few seasons, and he started well at Chelsea, seems to be struggling now, but maybe?

Depends on your definition of “started well”. His contributions in those games were wildly overblown, IMO. I watched a lot of those first few and it was a lot of the same we saw at United. Only a couple of great (almost solo) finishes gave them this “productive” narrative the media ran with.

Alas, wasn’t long before he’s found himself struggling for game time again. Guess we’ll see, maybe we were the anomaly or he’s just possibly not suited to this competitive league. His second time back at Dortmund wasn’t a resounding success either.

Did he really start well? I suppose if you purely look at just stats? Watching him he’s the exact player he was here.

Think of it like this. The intent is to link every possible news item to United in crisis storyline since that gets the maximum traffic. The media wanted Sancho to start brilliantly so it can be tied to us and they analyzed the "assists" as a stick to beat us with. Watching Sancho, he was exactly what he was here and I doubt he will ever surpass the mediocrity.

this is what I said, yes. Agreed

edit - I guess the floor was in hell after United, and that contributed to the assessment of "started well"

Basically this.

Yep agreed, I get why the media do it, baffled why people on here would agree with them or believe he’s reborn.

Anybody looking to create a narrative that he was he’s been a player reborn is just looking for attention and clicks. I did think his cameo debut at Bournemouth was excellent, and he was good at home vs Brighton but apart from that he hasn’t done anything noteworthy. He was terrible vs Liverpool. So overall a very mixed bag. Some good, some bad, some average.
