and he'd played what 7 minutes before tonight? WTF has Southgate been thinking?

He's very good on the right but looks more natural on the left.

A cracking player, if you can't see that you are either trolling or a sandwich short of a picnic

It’ll be interesting if Sancho drifts to the left as much when Rashford is playing or if they stick to their wings. With Sterling, they swapped wings a few times & he ended centrally at times too. Hopefully we’ll see that fluidity at United too, especially if Greenwood is playing up top.

Dunno what Southgate is upto

He's hardly given Sancho any minutes this tournament, then chucks him in at the quarters. Showed no faith in him to the point he didn't even make the squad to begin with. Then all of a sudden, with hardly any minutes under his belt, he's in the 11?

Clueless.

Clueless :nervous:

He’s gonna be brilliant for us - equally good on the right, left or middle. Commands the ball. I’m sure him and Rashford will just swap sides constantly and be given the licence to do so.

He's got to be a nailed on starter up front with Sterling and Kane after this performance.

Decent game, but clearly only the 3rd best United player today!

I don’t think some realise the player we have on hands here. £73m is an insane snip for a player of this quality.

He’s so lucky he’s had a golf course to operate in whilst he stays on that left hand side.

He had a good game, showed his particular qualities - likes to pass and go, runs in behind and when given space will carry the ball.

However the one major limitation of his game was also on show - he doesn't beat players from a standing start, he tried a couple of times but was really slow with the ball and didn't get past the defender. I've thought it for a while but I can see us continue to struggle against low block teams that sit back as we still won't have anyone that can really take a defender on and consistently beat his man.

You would think, but we also thought that of Grealish after his sub impacts! Sancho definitely provides the best balance though and by far the best right winger in this England squad IMO. Shown his quality today with his overall game, even if he didn't create any chances himself.

He's class, get Grealish in for Mount behind those 3 and England have a ridiculous attack.

Honestly this is just such a weird take as it's something that he can do and has always done. Each to their own but I completely disagree based on watching loads of him since he joined Dortmund, as he shows exactly that quality. Even the one time he tried that today he got past his man but then the defender got back when he tried to take it in the box.

I beg you shut up. Imagine saying Sancho can't take on and beat defenders consistently. Wtf. How often have you watched him play?

All this wanting to look and sound smart on the internet got you guys typing up the most ridiculous takes on this forum as if you work for buzzfeed or something

The heat map of our team next season will have only Bruno and AWB maybe on the right side of the pitch

I'm talking about today, he tried 3 times to dribble from the right and failed. He managed to dribble past two guys when he was in the centre and had space. Go rewatch his game highlights if you want.

I'm just giving my opinion I don't know why you have to constantly quote every single post that says anything slightly negative about Sancho. He's not a perfect player. The likes of Neymar, Hazard, Bale, Mane were fast dribblers, Sancho is not on their level. Even Nani was a better dribbler.

The state of your post. Relax. I'm talking about today's game. And yes, if you want, go watch his highlights against PSG and Spurs in the CL if you want to watch him fail to dribble past his man. You'll see soon enough for us anyway.

Honestly wasn't that amazing. You can clearly see his qualities and I'm so excited about him but he didn't do enough to be considered a certified starter next time round. I think he'll be on the bench.

How can people say Sancho wasn’t that good. Easy to see who doesn’t know anything about football.

Took players on, got bums off seats and made things happen. Lovely performance

i can't believe we finally got a winger that plays with width, Cavani going to be making crazy runs inside the box

I think he'll be very good on both sides. He'll combine excellent with Shaw. Wan Bissaka isn't a bad partner either, especially with short play, his technique is very good.

Excited to see him in United shirt. He seems to be in very good shape and very confident for a player who only got like 10mins of game time before.

Compared to Rashford, Sancho is a natural wide player rather than converted forward.

Sancho looked very good technically. But what made him stand out for me was his decision making. If he had space he ran with the ball. If he didn't he went for the 1-2. He will do very well with Bruno and Shaw when he switches flanks.

While AWB isn't as good on the ball as Shaw, he still makes runs into forward areas much more than Walker did and that should help Sancho put some weighted balls in the box for a cutback. Exciting times ahead.

I quote posts I disagree with and explain why I disagree with them. Not saying he's perfect. Very weird to put Bale in that group of players, he was literally always a kick and run winger who went past players for pace, not dribbling unlike Neymar or Hazard. Sancho is literally that type of player.

I quote posts I disagree with because very clearly there are many who haven't seen him play. Anyone who has watched Sancho played regularly knows one of his biggest strengths is his dribbling. So its weird (or flat out wrong) to call it a limitation.

A bit harsh but yes, his 'best' moments when dribbiling was in open space, on the transition or from 1-2s. He's not going to beat players as well as the likes you mentioned on the right wing but the other stuff was encouraging to see. With Bruno, Pogba, Fred and Cavani/Martial/Rashford to interplay with, hopefully we won't need to lament the potential issues of outside width on the right.

As for the bolded bit, Nani on form was the best in the league and had a world class 18 months for us. Don't use 'even' because Nani is a really high barometer!

I always struggled to understand the excessive fawning over signing Grealish this summer when it was clear we were bringing in Sancho. All the things people say they want from Grealish, this lad does and is even better in some aspects. We really do have a great player on our hands. It won't happen immediately but slowly he'll be given the keys to our attack and everyone else will have to fit around him.
