He's reached no where near his potential so far, but how anyone can't see a very, very talented player in him is a mystery.

Thats an understatement

Hes probably been the one player that can hold his head up high from the wreck weve had recently.

100% this. The one positive from this season (apart from maybe De Gea) and flooded with negativity after a single average game when the rest of the squad has been average for the entire season.

It is quite clear how fans rate players these days, its nothing to do with watching a player play to make a decision.

Most fans now only look at stats because if anyone has watched sancho play lately, its obvious how good he is.

Wait why is Sancho getting bashed all of a sudden? Has been one of our most consistent performers the last few months after a rocky start to his United career, now he's back to being a waste of money?

Sancho has had about a month worth of decent form and been poor before that, the crying about him not being in the england squad is weird. Probably the same people who used to cry about AWB not being selected.
Doesn’t really explain Grealish inclusion then does it. He’s been good for about 2 games!

Smith Rowe has completed only 2 half’s of a game in their last 13 league games. So he doesn’t even have any form to judge by.

Do your research before cluelessly posting dude.

He was always a waste of money. A blip of half decent form is all it is - a blip.

I've thought this for quite a while now.

I don't think half of these online football fans even watch games, rather dig up whatever they can find on whoscored and drop stat bombs in their intellectual dick measuring contests on Twitter.

Genuinely think there is a large swathe of fans who only watch highlight reels and also expect any wide player to be an absolute pace merchant. Sancho started really poorly but has steadily got better all within a pretty restrictive system and without much attacking support - he’s the one player we have who actually looks like he has an elite ceiling.

There are some players you just have to watch to realise they are really good players, Sancho is one of them. He is so technical, he knows how to play football. Its that simple.

He is not the type of player that needs a certain formation, certain style like some of our players, he can adapt to playing pressing, counter, sit back.

Because Southgate hasn’t picked him I think.

I am overall happy with Sancho so far. Very slow start but that is to be expected from a young player in a new league. He is starting to produce, looks quality and can only improve. Made himself one of the few nailed on starters in our entire squad. Onwards and upwards with this lad.

There’s some right fecking morons in this thread.
I wouldn't worry too much. It may take a while but in the end the majority will accept (albeit in some cases grudgingly) that once again we've been absolutely rinsed by a club for a player who is nowhere close in value to the amount we ended up paying.

Oh you thought I was against his signing, nah I’m very much a fan of his pal. He’s already settled down after a shaky start and has been one of our best players the last few months. I think after having a season to bed in we’ll see him go from strength to strength. Next season we’ll see exactly why we paid £75m for him.

It is quite obvious that stats from the Bundesliga do not mean much in the PL. The last guy Mhiki who we signed also had great stats in the same inferior league. Hopefully Sancho will do better if we rebuild around him and Bruno.
Guess we should pass on the likes of Haaland, Nkunku, and Bellingham, then.

Nope, since they have the physique to prosper in the PL. Sancho is a talented creative player who is dependent on strong runners around him. We do not have that. 73m is too much for a wide forward who can't go past players. He is still young and he will improve but it is obvious that we lack the knowledge to buy players such as Mane, Salah, Jota, Firmino, Diaz for 30-50m and then develop them into top/world class players.

United have lacked identity for years and that has directly impacted their ability to then identify players that fit their identity. Liverpool's main forwards are all mobile, agile, strong, and pacey with the requisite level of technical ability.

Sancho can definitely go past players, especially in tight spaces. He's not the fastest or quickest player, but he has more than enough to get past a player then more importantly, play the correct pass at the correct time with the correct weight.

Sancho needs players who are on his football IQ level. Yes, he needs willing runners, but they need to run into the correct space whether that's an overlap, underlap, into space near or far post, etc. There have been more than enough times where it has happened, but it doesn't happen frequently enough throughout the team. He's 21 years old with zero experience coming into the Premier League and already been through two types of systems at United within 7 months, where at Dortmund, they have the same core principles year in, year out.

Not compared to most top wide forwards. Salah, Mane, Jota, Mbappe. In which games in the PL has he beaten any defender by pace? 9 times out of 10 he runs at the defender for a few yards, stops and passes sideways or backwards. A 40m player with a 35m English tax. Similar to Maguire and AWB.

He averages more dribbles per game than all the players you mentioned except Mbappe who doesn't play in the PL.

Jota, 40m, 13 PL goals
Sancho, 73m, 3 PL goals

We have terrible scouts.

We have even worse supporters.

Jota - STRIKER, 25 years, 4.5 years in the prem, 18 months at Liverpool.

Sancho - WINGER, 21 years, 6 months in the prem.

At least be fair.

He’s 21 and not the finished article. Nothing wrong with that, give him another season in the prem at this level before we can say anything at all. He’s improved alot and hopefully we get a manager who can bring the best out of young talent.

The discussion on this thread is genuinely mind boggling. Seems the agenda pushers who were conspicuously absent when Sancho started playing well are back with a vengeance now that he's been left out if the England squad.

It's so transparent as well.

This thread reminds me why I’ve been lurking on the forum for years without creating an account.

Sancho has looked very good of late. Not as much as i thought he would, but he’s young and it was his first year in a new league in a dysfunctional team. Who cares who Southgates picks or not.

It's useless comparing our players to their peers at City or Liverpool. We are so far behind them in how they operate on a footballing level, not just on the pitch, but also at recruitment and overall football operational level.

It's obvious to everyone that those two clubs have a clear and defined playing style. Their coaches drill and refine that philosophy and they sign players they know will suit their way of playing the game. They have a clear idea of who they want and definite back up targets in case they miss their first choice.

United, on the other hand, have had four permanent managers and one interim in the last eight years. Each manager had a different philosophy and vision for how their teams should play. So we're left with a grab bag of players who were signed for different systems and now can't play to the structure Rangnick wants because their strengths don't rest in the same area.

As for recruitment, it's pretty obvious we're miles behind. We wanted Grealish the summer before last but couldn't afford him. Instead.we went for Van De Beek. A decent player, but someone who is so wildly different in skillset that it really makes no sense why we went after him instead.

The signing of Sancho is one of the only positive moves we've made in recent years. He's someone that has been drilled in a possession based style of football during his time at City, and also someone versed in the counter pressing style favoured in the Bundesliga. He started poorly here, but his form in the last few months shows that he'll eventually be well worth the initial outlay.

We can't scout players and we can't scout managers, that is a very fair statement. Or do you think we got fair deals for Maguire, AWB, Pogba, Donny? Only 1 of them started on Tuesday. Do you prefer Sancho at 73m over Jota at 40m? Liverpool can only compete with City since they have outstanding scouts and a board which can identify a good manager.

I think we are absolutely shite at recruitments, probably the worst in Europe. But this is the Jadon Sancho performance thread, not the United recruitments thread. And on the topic of Jadon, your comparison and evaluation of him vs Jota was flawed on multiple levels. I don't care if he is worth a Jota or not, what I know is that he looks highly promising and it's a bit early to judge his ceiling.

Smith Rowe has had a much better season than Sancho overall, 9 goals in the premier league compared to Sancho's 3, and just like Grealish he can also play in a central role which gives Southgate more tactical options. Grealish's all around game is more polished as you'd expect since he's a lot more experienced so it's not at all surprising that Southgate prefers the more seasoned player. United players don't have a divine right to be in the england squad, Sancho has been poor most of the season so he's got nothing to complain about. He hasn't had a better season than either Smith Rowe or Grealish. It's the same juvenile crying everytime the england squad is announced and a particular united player isn't in there. It used to be AWB that people were crying about not being in there, despite the protestations of the red tinted spec wearers Southgate was spot on. The people who complained about it at the time won't come on here and admit they were wrong though.

So you do not care if we paid 45m, 73m, or 108m for Sancho? I don't think Liverpool have paid 73m for any player even though Allison and Dijk were close.

I agree that he is young and has shown great improvement the last couple of months and will be a better buy than Pogba, Maguire and AWB.
