It will be tough for him to get a look in for England but he does seem to have kicked on a bit this season so you never know. It is very hard to look good in a team like Villa too.
Exactly, no Irishman would ever behave in such a manner......He was obviously always more English looking at this
Don't see Stephen Ireland at all in Grealish
If I had to compare more I'd say Steve McManaman
its such a kick in the teeth for Ireland though who helped develop him. No problem if he wants to play for England but he would've been signed as a professional at 16/17 where he has to make a decision on what team to commit to so why can't he commit to a country then. Unfortunately the answer is he wanted to have on his cv he was playing international youth football as it gives him more experience and is more valuable to his club. However he was probably not good enough for England at that point.

I dont know if its a fair comparison to say that us taking on the likes of Clinton Morrison or Matt Holland who had no chance of playing for the English national team is equal to England wooing a player we brought through the youth ranks. If anything its the fact we have taken the likes of Houghton, McCarthy and McGeady from Scotland that means we should just accept it.To be fair ireland have benefitted from a lot of players whom were not quite good enough for England over the years and they were happy to take them. I can see why Irish fans would be dissapointed but this was always the likely outcome.
Yep. He's that English style of dribbling no Irishman could hope to copy.
are there actually any Englishmen/women on here who are the ones saying he's shite or is it just upset and angry Irish? Personally chuffed to bits he's chosen England - whether he turns into the player he can be we'll have to wait and see but don't understand any Englishman on here coming out saying they don't want him for England etc.
a section of Irish Twitter folk have taken this with the good grace you have come to expect from the Internet.
Broken legs, "sleep with one eye open" "snake" the usual.

Anyone who doesn't rate him clearly hasn't watched him play outside of Match of the Day. He'll be at a top 6 side within the next two years.
Can't see why some are reacting so spitefully on Twitter and whatnot. He was born in Birmingham. His Dad was born in Birmingham and his mother is English as well. He is English.
Yeah that's why we've had such world class squads ..
he actually got called up to the England U15 first, but got sent home ill and Ireland quickly snapped him up afterwards....sooooo technically we called him up firstI can see why people are mad though, considering he's always represented Ireland as a youth.
Tell that to Bruce, Martin Keown and Gary Cahill.....Players who would have been remembered alongside the likes of Gazza etc but who no one will remember 20 years from now...Jonathon Walters, Ciaran Clarke adn Stephen Reid will have a bigger name in football 20 years from now than the likes of Grealish or Bruce will ever have sitting on the England benchI read somewhere that the Irish FA appoint a scout based in England with the purpose of finding talented young players who may be eligible to play for Ireland when they are older and this is how Grealish was reeled into this situation. They find them when they are young and impressionable and pull them towards there own nation. Though there is technically nothing wrong with this, I can imagine the English FA feeling irritated and might claim that this is potentially damaging for English football and will not want to lose their best prospects to another nation, which is why they have reigned Jack back in.
The Irish will quite rightly feel aggrieved that this kid has chosen Ireland from a young age and the country has shown a lot of faith in the lad (maybe a lot more than England). For Jack to switch allegiances at the final hurdle is a hard blow to take.
The English will argue though that he was born in England, it was an English football club in Aston Villa that invested so much in him and has the bulk of his career in English football, so maybe in a world where it is English football who gave his chance, then maybe he should offer something back to them.

On a serious note though, the development of his international career was done by him taking up a spot in the Irish teams
Ireland has suffered from large periods of immigration, proportionally huge number. I wouldnt be surprised if we send scouts over to Australia in the future.I read somewhere that the Irish FA appoint a scout based in England with the purpose of finding talented young players who may be eligible to play for Ireland when they are older and this is how Grealish was reeled into this situation. If anybody should understand the situation it's the Republic of Ireland fans.
On a serious note though, the development of his international career was done by him taking up a spot in the Irish teams. The inevitable threats of violence are out of order but I wouldn't blame a level headed fan for being a little bit miffed at the situation.

No they won't
You mention hair a strange amount.. Are you bald may I ask?
Nah....Will be though in about 10 years though I reckon

I think the easiest thing to do would be to say that if you play u19 or u21 football you can't play until 23 for another country. Which is going to be when you stop being Eligable for youth football.
There shouldn't be too many complaints from the Irish.
They're one nation who have no real right to complain about that.I can see why people are mad though, considering he's always represented Ireland as a youth.
