That's not how it works. Why would the US pressure Egypt to loosen the reigns on an organization (Hamas) that both nations officially consider a terrorist organization ?

What does that even mean? Why would Israel wish to "reinvade" a peaceful neighbour? Doesn't make sense to seek a war after striking a peace deal, under less favourable terms.
You got your timetable wrong. Hamas had not thrown rocks long before the Syrian bloodshed. It launched rockets, fired missiles at school buses and murdered civilians in suicide attacks. Obviously those campaigns enjoyed wider support because they happened before Hamas "turned against the hand that fed it", i.e. Syria and Iran financing a war against Israel at the expense of poor Palestinian civilians.
And Hamas does have the capability to manufacture its own rockets in the GS.

The IDF spokesperson said that it was decided to approve a limited period of time on Wednesday between 10 am to 3 pm to allow Palestinians to stock up on essentials and fix infrastructure ahead of the continued military campaign.
The IDF statement reported that residents that were requested to evacuate the neighbourhoods of Beit Lahia, Shuja'iyya and Zeitoun will not be able to return to their homes after 15:00.

IDF forces identified some 13 Gaza terrorists attempted to penetrate into Israel through a tunnel from Gaza Strip.
The IDF forces attacked the group and some direct hits were identified.
According to the report both delegations are staying at the same hotel and Egyptian officials are maneuvering between the sides in order to form a ceasefire agreement.

It'd been better if you didn't brought up civilian deaths. More palestinian civilians have been targeted and killed by IDF then the number of Israelis by Hamas over the years.
