Israeli - Palestinian Conflict

It's all about context in that "Israeli-Palestinian violence":

Go figure that the "five wounded" were the victims of the stabbing, and the "two dead" were their brainwashed attackers. I guess the distance helps the WSJ not get too emotional in its reporting. After all, when you hit the West Coast you get this:

The sub-headline seems to think that Palestinians dying aren't even worth putting in a headline, if you are looking for ways to spin the news.

I believe border clashes in Gaza are not as dramatic for most US readers than violence in Jerusalem. I bet you the continuous rocket launching from Gaza doesn't get a mention. Should it?

I have no intention of entering a long debate. I was just pointing it that the headline and what it says and leaves out can be spun multiple ways.
But if it makes you feel better that the WSJ is part of a worldwide covert/overt anti-Zionist conspiracy, go ahead.

Forget long debates, and conspiracy theories. Do you think the headlines provide a balanced account of the events in Jerusalem? A simple yes or no would save the trouble of long debates. You can also get away with "not simply" balanced/unbalanced.

Fwiw, both headlines are 'bad', but, always, deaths will get more prominence than wounded.

You are avoiding my simple question. Instead you are choosing to start a long debate, which is kind of an answer I guess.

The headlines we are both providing are incomparable. In both cases a headline cannot give the full details, but it is easy to see in which one (or in fact two) the headlines are blatantly misleading.

If you think a headline that says "conflict between 2 sides, 7 dead" when all 7 are from 1 side isn't just as misleading as what you put up there's really no point going on.

I had no issue with that, but avoiding a distinction between attackers and victims (WSJ) or reporting of "Israeli violence" that kills "Palestinian teens" (two of those went out to murder Israelis) (LA Times) is bad journalism at the very least.

But I feel that's going to be a long debate so we can stop here.

I would agree if it wasn't for that one side starting the clashes by bringing down the border fence, rather than getting shot because there is a conflict.

Nothing to do with the subject but I'm sure I can quote a lot of moronic statements from yourself but I won't waste time doing that. Also won't waste time arguing with a 50 yo jewish supremacist and I'm not even sure you're jewish.

Thank god there's a new generation of Israelis that want change that's why Portman's statement was very encouraging.

Facebook to beam Internet to Africa with Israeli satellite

IAI’s AMOS-6, operated by Spacecom, which will earn $95 million, will expand Facebook’s Internet offering to 14 Sub-Saharan nations.

Facebook announced Monday that it will use the AMOS-6 communications satellite, manufactured by Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI) (TASE: ARSP.B1), to provide Internet access to Sub-Saharan African nations as part of its internet.org project.

Strong message or not, I suggest you boycott Facebook and the internet.

Stay classy with your debate guys. Your arguments won't have more credibility with personal insults and name calling.

I've already edited posts. Next time you'll be banned from this thread or even the CE forum.

Thanks mod, but this is still ageist to an extent.

That's the thing you master the most : crying and whining while having having all the military power and backing in the world you still get humiliated everyday by a handful of pathetic stone throwers. The world needs a new generation of Israelis with another mindset so the quicker your generation, that is now governing the country, disappear the better for the face of humanity.

The other side didn't steal a land. The other side is opressed. The other side doesn't have nuke weapons and white posphorus.

Just like in caricatures, you make an exaggeration in certain features to make a point. The mention of Hoess is an exaggerated example where you can find a good side in every evil. I just saw a German drama called Generation War, where you identify with the characters be them a German Jew or a Wehrmacht soldier. This is all good in TV dramas, but in real life there is no place for moral relativism of this sort. The political situation here is complicated, and I understand different people prefer various narratives. I still reckon stabbing people is plainly wrong, but each to their own I guess.

The woman is Israeli btw. No oppression, apartheid or any other "context"

Arab Israelis are discriminated against.

You lot use the old Rhodesian excuse. Sure they are better off here than in any other African/Arab country.

Discriminated minorities shocker. British Muslims are discriminated against too. Would that justify another 7/7?

All we need is some like that on the other side, and we're half way there.

The other side didn't steal a land. The other side is opressed. The other side doesn't have nuke weapons and white posphorus.

The other side don't leave in an open air prison ghetto where every aspect of their lives are at the whim of an oppressive racist separatist gov't.

Settlers throwing pig intestines on a dead Palestinian that they killed. Stay classy.

Fecking hell, that's appalling.

Zionist settlers are up there with Islamic extremists as the most obnoxious elements within the Middle East.

The people trying to resuscitate the stabber are also Zionist settlers. The feckwit who puts that piece of un identified meat on the terrorist may well be a settler two. Are they all ISIS-like then. Mind you, I really doubt that is pork we're seeing there, as religious Jews are not allowed to touch it.

Was Mandela justified?

The discrimination of Israeli Arabs are of a much greater level than any minority in the UK. Even the Irish in NI were never treated as badly as you treat Israeli Arabs.

Come on guys! No country, religion, public body, or institution can legislate for the stupidity of individuals or rogue groups. Criticising government policy is perfectly reasonable.

Other:

All that above action didn't happen in a vacuum though. Context is crucial and you provide none of it.

Come on Uzz, they didn't just randomly walk up to that woman at the bus stop and shot her. We've already went through all this before.
