Israeli - Palestinian Conflict

I find it hard to really say who is right or wrong here as it has become virtually impossible to distinguish between who is saying the truth and who is just spewing propaganda. It's also really strange that every news station these days seem to have an agenda that is pro one side or the other leading to at least a lot of heavily biased reports.

Russell brand responds to Sean Hannity, puts the cretinous bigoted sack of shit in his place....in a mellow and friendly manner :)

Why is it that Hannity invited him on? Was it was a tenuous means to stage a 'debate' or did Geraldo just not go along with the script?

Obviously to show how fair and balanced his show is. The hateful bald guy and the angry woman ranting against Hollywood were obviously too much in agreement with Sean, so having Geraldo on was to "balance things out".

Is the British embassy open on Sundays?

Shockingly even for me, it's not Israel I've given up on but this thread.

I don't really have any complaints. You just can't know how it is until you've lived through it so there's no point bothering, really.

You should apply that to your opinion of the Palestinians then.

Fatah are the Al-Aqsa martyrs. They got exactly what they deserved.

I recall you attributing the rise of Hamas to power to Fatah corruption rather than radicalization of the Palestinian society. Changed your mind, or perhaps this current version better fits.your 2014 agenda?

Fatah corruption and the failure of Israel to negotiate in good faith. When all the negotiations only results in more settlements and oppression why vote for party prommising more of the same?

So, we're still in a stalemate where on one hand we have Hamas putting the lives in danger of the population they are supposed to be fighting for, and on the other hand we have Israel, a so called civilised democracy, continuing the indiscriminate killing of innocent civilian population on a massive scale. It really does make you lose faith in humanity.
Par some niggly truths, but respect to this part

And then it's the Jews accused of playing the holocaust card...

Look, living in a country that saw out the highest percentage in Western Europe of Jews being deported to death camps you should be able to understand why I wouldn't put the security of my nation in your hands again. Am I supposed to compromise the defense of my children from genocidal fundamentalists because you lot sent Jews to death camps?

So this justifies your own genocidal on the Palestinians?

The main thing I've gathered so far is that both sides are very good at coming up with new, interesting and unique ways of being totally wrong.

Agree that it's very hard to get any unbiased information as both sides seem very happy to spin things their own way. Basically any time someone puts forward an argument I'm immediately disposed to take the opposite point of view as I've started assuming they're biased.

Virtually everyone in this thread is biased.

This thread is so hard to keep up with.

There is no God, so pretty easy to figure that out.

This is simply illiterate. The comment I quoted began with the words, "If there is a God...".

Good way to turn a bit of fun into a dig which doesn't even make sense in the context of the conversation. You really need to stop allowing your hatred for God to erupt nonsensically any time you see or hear a reference to Him.

And you wonder why so many call atheists arrogant and annoying.

Please stop.

Why is it illiterate exactly?

Why is it a dig? Do you believe in him? If so, no need to be offended.

You've taken a bit of fun and took it personally.

I dont hate God. You need to relax and not be so uptight about this.

Don't generalise atheists. They are perfectly fine.

Back to topic, I see the USA have funded some $200m to Israel for iron dome. How do the general American public feel about this?

So your post doesn't have any meaning attached to it then? You also stated "God doesn't exist" so I find your reference to atheists as "they" as though you don't identify with them really strange.

I don't think it's possible to be as dead wrong and more patronising than you are.

That's probably the heart of the matter that there is no side really "in the right" in this "war". At least not those parties that are intend to fire rockets onto each other to keep the conflict going as I still think the majority of Israelis and Palestinians would actually like to live in peace and not fear for their life every day. Most people usually try to get along with each other but there always seems to be a minority intend of keeping this conflict as hot as possible and unfortunately they always succeed as they are in control of the weapons and information.

How very arrogant of you.

Again, you've taken a bit of fun and taken it personally. Lighten up.

Now stop taking this thread off topic with your whining.

VIDEO: Finnish reporter sees rockets fired from Gaza hospital

Aishi Zidan, a reporter for the Finnish paper Helsingin Sanomat, filed a video report from Gaza's Shifa hospital in which she claimed to have seen a rocket fired from the area at Israel.

After Israeli press caught wind of the video it went viral, prompting the journalist to urge: "Don’t use me as your propaganda weapon."

The reporter responded to the video through a post on her Facebook page, writing: "Don’t use me as your propaganda weapon.

"I spent a night at the Shifa hospital in Gaza two weeks ago. I was covering the situation in Gaza for my newspaper.

"My story was about the Palestinian civilians who were victims of war. My article started with a story of four little boys who were killed on the beach the same day. The Shifa hospital was full of women and children who were victims of this ugly war. I described their stories in detail.

"During the night someone launched a rocket somewhere behind the hospital. Now this sentence from my article is spreading in the pro-Israeli medias. I mentioned this in my article because I’m a professional journalist. I try to cover the events truthfully as I see them and I strongly condemn these kind of actions.

"But I find it very disgusting how this one sentence was taken out context to be used as an excuse to target civilians in Gaza. My story became quickly a tool of propaganda. The people sharing this story are not even trying to understand the situation as a whole. They are just looking for excuses to Israeli actions in Gaza. I refuse to be part of this kind of propaganda."

Missing Israeli is dead, says IDF

The Israeli military says a soldier reported missing in Gaza on Friday is dead.

Hadar Goldin was believed to have been captured by militants during fighting, leading to the collapse of a ceasefire shortly after it had been declared.

The Israel Defense Forces said it had determined that Lt Goldin, previously considered captured, had died.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has said the operation in Gaza will continue according to Israel's security needs

Ironically you're doing the very same thing she mentions in the last sentence...

The difference is the Jewish folks don't send their kids away with a blessing to blow themselves up and become martyrs for God. At least I'm unaware of any such occurrences.

Ironically you're doing the very same thing she mentions in the last sentence...

I don't understand what her point is. She is reporting from a hospital full of injured people which is an absolutely horrific experience. At the same time Hamas is launching rockets from the hospital grounds and Israeli media a using her report only to underline that this is still the threat and the difficulty they're dealing with, namely the deliberate firing of rockets from civilian areas, schools, hospitals, etc. How is this 'propaganda'?

In fact, people should have rushed out to the parking lot and fecking chased them away. Not a word of condemnation from the reporter either.

I'd be interested in having your opinion on this video; Mr. Molyneux highlights some interesting points that makes this worth the watch.

We've all got internet mate we can get pictures likes all the time

The first pic is of Arab kids getting their Hamas/Hizballah indoctrination and military training in motion.

The rest (perhaps bar the tank one) are of right-wing settlers participating in a regrettable one-off event on independence day. That their kids are indocrinated I have no doubt. How wisespread these ugly scenes are in the two soicieties you could learn with that internet of yours.
