Is Sterling the best english player at the moment?

He has been consistently contained with some element of comfort against Utd over an extended period now.

Would love to see a showreel of all his misses v Man. United down the years. Just comical finishing seemingly every season, he must wake up in a bad mood on derby day.

He's a ManUtd fan, thats the only logical explanation. I remember at least 3 sitters he has missed against us.

as I put in the City thread it took Ian Rush years to score against us, 92 I think was his first goal. Goodness knows how many games it took him.

just one of those strange things that happens.

I don’t really think he’s all that special anyway. Awful against us as per.

Is he actually a "great" player? I've always thought that's ludicrously overblown, especially in this City team.

No surprise that he's dropped tonight after his performance in the derby.

A hilariously overrated footballer. Diana Ross had better technique in the 94 World Cup opening ceremony.

Not even close to the same level of Kane, Grealish, Sancho, Maddison et al.

Bit of a prisoner of the moment post for me here. He’s a very good player who hasn’t been at his best this season but he’s been consistently good for two big clubs at the highest level for a while now. I can’t go with him not being as good as Grealish, Sancho and Maddison when he’s on his best form. Those three have still got it all to prove when they get to big ponds

Was really confused for a minute. Until I realised there's a PL match on tonight.

He dislikes Sterling for some reason

Not even the best English lw at City right now.

Pecking order should be Foden, Grealish/Rashford, Sterling, Sancho.

Wonder if Gal will drop him from the England XI. I’d be surprised as he’s always been one of his pets and he has a lot more ‘experience’ than a lot of England players. We didn’t have the options in his position previously. It depends on who actually gets to the Euros with all these injuries but with everyone being fit it’s hard to justify him starting.

He’s too much of a confidence player for me. He gets stuck in a rut for a long time it seems. This is why I’ve never fancied him as a protagonist at the very elite level.

I always found him overrated- at his best he was a tap in merchant.

Really want him dropped from England's first 11.

Why so much focus on him lately and none on mane? Who’s been worse for longer?

Feck me, Foden above Grealish, Kane and Rashford? You’re smoking some strong shit.
One of them is not like the others. Since when did Kane suddenly play on the wing? Obviously Kane is up top, did that really need explaining? Anyway, Foden has had a better season overall than Grealish or Rashford and unlike them, can play on the right. So yes, he should be one of the first names on the teamsheet if Sterling is still blowing hot and cold.

thread title above, seems you were talking about who should play right wing for England, although no-one was quoted so tough to understand.

Grealish has better stats this season in a much worse and lower scoring side so bullshit has Foden has a better season. Grealish is currently a much more proven and superior player.

Train wreck of a season. Southgate will still start him this summer though, and it will hurt us.

How did he get a full 90 today!?

Pep is desperate for him to find some form. He's one of our only goal scorers despite his lack of ability to kick a ball (and today control a ball, pass a ball, walk with a ball, pick up a ball, run after a ball and look interested in a ball). Think Pep was hoping one would go in off his arse or something and give him a boost.
