What I said in the quoted post is that things are held against the goat claim not the person, and that any goat claim for any manager would have to face the respective managers shortcomings. More something to do with the idiocy of goat claims than anything else. There is no goat.

On fraud watch after yesterday.
Between 54th and 64th minute they had 3 big chances: Haaland hitting the bar, Onana saving Walker's long range shot and Alvarez missing that big chance. But other than that period I think we didn't let them many chances. After our fantastic FA Cup win it further cemented my mind that Pep is the most over rated Manger of all time.
Imo the most defensive minded Manger out there. How do you have 72% possesion and only have 5 shots on net. We had 28% possession and managed 6. I don't buy that we parked the bus or had a low block or whatever their excuse is and that's why. Let's face it Pep's team passes the ball around until they can pick the perfect pass to finally get that shot on net. Backwards and sideways are more the norm then forward. For every pass forward there is 10 sideways and back.
But how effective is that tactic when you have less shots on net and 72% possesion? Seems like it's defensive. Alot of Time wasting in there. Add to that that you need all the best players in the world and you got to wonder, is Pep really that great of a manager?

I'd hate it if my team played like that. There's no risk, no excitement.
He buys the best players in the world so of course they're going to dominate. But it's just so dull.
I think that's it exactly. Because he has such good players at his disposal in every position, with backups just as capable he can play his same old same old. Plan A. Which is dominate possesion. (How can you not dominate possesion when you have always had the best team and players) Keep passing the ball around until their is a opening or the opponent makes a mistake.

I just feel like if he's the best ever, I should enjoy watching his teams play more than I do.
There is of course no objective best ever. Football management has way too many variants and different approaches to how to do the job. The requirements and job descriptions are different from country to country. What different cultures and clubs prioritze and look at varies greatly also. That's not even getting into the specific conditions of each era. Management and coaching are abstract and rely on a lot of things that can't be measured concretely. Trophies and statistics are reliant on so many other factors than the quality of the manager alone.
Having said that, there are people who have done things that stand out. For me, what makes something stand out is its rarity and uniquness. I don't think what Fergie did with Aberdeen stands out because there have been others who have done incredible things with an underdog. But what Fergie did that is unique and makes him sit deservedly as one of the all time greats is the consistency of winning and skill to adapt through different eras as well as building a monster of a club from a very low point. That is very rare indeed and to me qualifies him to sit at the VIP table. Others who I think have done things nobody has are Rinus Michels, Sacchi, Cruyff and Pep. I might be missing some names but the one common denominator between these people in the legacy they left. We can spend the whole day pointing out what they haven't done or how they had condition X or Y that helped them but the facts remains to me that they are or will be spoken about decades from now as one offs, and that makes them in the list of 5 to 10 GOATS in my opinion in no specific order.
Why is he considered a success at City? Like they don't want him to ever leave. League win is expected with that squad. Only one CL in 8 seasons and choking so many times shouldn't be viewed as a success. No CL with a super Bayern team either.

Hard to say, he's the best league manager ever that's a fact. The way he set up teams, the control and style they have is top top class. I don't think there's a manager that stamps his fingerprints onto teams more than him, he's totally world-class.
Now he did manage a great generation of players at barca, possibly the best midfield ever assembled and he had the goat at his peak so hard to say if it was him, the players or a combination of both.
On Bayern he did what every other manager had done, won everything domestically but failed in Europe. At city he's been impressive locally but again in Europe just one title. With a squad that plastic as feck, with loads of dirty money injected and probably the greatest/more clomplete squad in football.
Looking back at titles league wise there's no one who comes close, but there will always be that stink of city's dirty money on him. Is yet to be seen if he can have success on a team without injecting loads and loads of money.

To be fair to him nobody won that many BL titles in a row before, not even with Bayern. Usually Bayern won one or two titles and then somebody else won the next. Always somebody else, between 2003 and 2013 (the decade before he arrived) we saw Bremen, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg and Dortmund (2x) win the league. Not dropping a level in the league was new and special. Although I fully agree on him failing in Europe with them.
