Is it time Amorim promotes some of the youth?

Is it fair to throw a young player in at this moment? Nothing is working for the team. It would be extremely difficult for a young player to get in and perform in this situation.

That said, I can't see some of these players keeping their place the entire season. That would be a crime against the fans. If Amorim and the staff see that 1-3 youth players can be part of the future, then slowly integrate them the coming months, so they have a bit of experience next season. Build towards the future, and forget the present shit-show.

I’d be tempted to throw Collyer in the midfield - I think he’d do more than Casemiro (doubt he would have performed worse last night). We most certainly have youth that would be better than Zirkzee in both positioning and passing based on last night too.
Our best youth are in the U18s and maybe too soon for the first team.

A red card is better than Zirkzee

No. It's the worst possible time to be promoting youth players. A non functioning team that's been losing games is not where you want be putting young players in.

Let these senior first team players go through this storm and see who comes out the other side.

Shiter than a Case/Eriksen CM pairing?
probably, since the step up is huge. But even if not the best case scenario is that they’ll bring some energy for the first games and then fade and take a confidence hit when we still don’t work as a team. Would be a waste. We can’t rely on young talents to drag us up from the mire.

Who are the players from the youth system that could make a difference? Where could they play?
I think Ibragimov could be a quality 10. He's a grafter, great technically and has decent vision/finishing.

Besides Collyer (who is fairly limited on the ball) i don't see a center mid that could come in right now.

It’s easy to say with hindsight, but I find it hard to believe a youth player couldn’t have done a better job than Casemiro/Eriksen did. Even one of the centre backs moving into midfield might’ve been better! Casemiro is done at this level.

I agree, I was just being facetious. We're fecked either way. God I'd eat your hand off for Herrera right now

As of now we need some energy and workrate in the team. I'm not sure what the fitness status of players like Collyer, Gore or Amass are but if they are fit I'm pretty sure they could provide us with some of what's missing. We certainly are not going to get that with the current overpaid first teamers.

We need physicality, athleticism and some height, if any youth fits in this category then giving them 5-10min to start with with a view to integrating them in first team as the season goes on should be priority as I don’t think we can go on spending another 100-200mil to buy players in jan

If we have no incomings in Jan, he will have to at least promote some to the squad. Who do you think is ready.

Play the kids is the most tiresome refrain for bad teams.

For all the patting ourselves on the back that we do about the academy, is it actually turning out top prospects at a rate comparable to City/Chelsea/Liverpool? That’s a more interesting question in my mind.

i wouldn't pile a load of them into the first team at this specific point, however some of them (Obi, Mantato, Fletcher, Ibragimov) cant be any worse than what is already on the pitch.

I wouldn't be surprised he's already looked and thought not yet, putting some kids in at the deep end could damage there progress . Under 18s have some realy good ones. Obi Martin plus a few others .

If they aren't good enough then why bother? I know there's this weird logic on this forum where people think "it can't be any worse", but actually, it can

The biggest problem the team has is that gets bullied physically every game. The youth aren't going to help with that at all.

It's a problem, but not the biggest. Constantly giving the ball away in the opponents half is the glaring problem. If there's a fix to that in the youth team then, by all means try something different.

If and when we get to 40 points, feel free to experiment with youth.
Not getting relegated is the utmost important but also highly unlikely.

We can’t give up on the season because not climbing in the table will have negative consequences in the transfer market. We may miss out on transfer targets and/or be forced to overpay to attract them.

Feel like Collyer/Godwill/Fletcher are all on the fringes, surprised Amass hasn’t been called upon but he’s still 17 and may not be physically ready for the PL currently, would like to see him get a shot if this Dalot rubbish has to continue, it can’t be any worse.

I see Arsenal have started playing another 17 year old. Is there any of our youngsters physically ready for a similar cameo apart from the big CB?

Nobody even close to Nwaneri, this kid is a generational talent.

Disappointing, no wonder there was reports that Amorim wasn't impressed by the U21's when he came to the club. However they did turn up when he came to watch. I was particularly impressed by Moorehouse, hoping he keeps improving.

Cole Palmer is a generational talent for England.

Seems like Gore and Amass will be loaned this window, otherwise they might be included in first team squad.

Collyer is the one who is consistently selected for Matchday squad, might be ready to be given cameos in CM alongside someone like Ugarte, Collyer seems to be the energetic type but I don't know what is he like on the ball.
